I shifted through my bulk collection to make a deck to play with a budget edh playgroup. I have a small budget(like $10?) that I can work with to improve the deck. This group does not play with planeswalkers, sweepers, or any card priced over $5, so please keep that in mind.
Sunforger (and some spells to find it) are pretty much a must for Anax and Cymede. It gives you the spells to keep triggering them, and that's even outside of giving you a toolbox. This means trying to have a Stonehewer Giant around, and probably a Mistveil Plains to keep providing you with the best spells, as well as a way to get Sunforger back if it's destroyed.

I would try some enchantments like Flickering Ward, Crown of Flames, or Ghitu Firebreathing. All let you trigger your commander's, and other heroic, abilities off multiple times, and in the case of Flickering Ward let you often swing through for the final bits of damage.
