I got my hands on the Release day promo Tromokratis recently, but pretty much just threw it in my trade binder and forgot about it. Then one day I noticed that it was a legendary creature and I wanted to play it. After all, this was an 8/8 sometimes-hexproof 8/8 that makes blocking REALLY painful all for 7 mana with NO DRAWBACK! Seriously, this guy is so cool and one of my favorite cards in the set by far, and knew I had to do SOMETHING with it...
That something was an EDH deck, of course! Now, I didn't want to make anything too strong or competitive at all with this one. I just wanted a cool themed deck idea built around Tromokratis and his undersea buddies that can jump out and swallow a city whole. The deck utilizes a lot of leviathans, krakens, etc. as the finishers with plenty of bounce to support them.
Yes, this is supposed to be a fun little deck, so keep that in mind when making suggestions, but I do think it needs some touching up. For one, the costs of a lot of my cards to cast is pretty high, so I kind of durdle around and bounce the occasional problematic permanent until I can get in the game. That's the main weakness I've noticed so far, so any help for improving the deck while staying true to theme would be so helpful!
Without Further adeu, I present the deck in it's current form.
I too made a Tromokratis with the Release Day Card. PROMO-TROMO!
Icy Manipulator helps clear the path for Tromo. Tap down one creature and opponent can't block. Not to mention the other uses of tapping down permanents....
Keeping in theme of fat guys....You have 21 Creatures in deck. 7 of which are Krakens, Octopi, Leviathans, or Serpents. Have you given thought to Quest for Ula's Temple?
