MTG Salvation

2020 update. A few elements of pillowfort, lots of life gain, and a few win-cons. My playgroup doesn't have a ton of heavy graveyard-based decks, and we tend to frown on tuck effects as well. I'm feeling pretty good about my choices, but suggestions are always appreciated! Thanks in advance!

A few of my favorite picks:

• Enchanted Evening: not of much use by itself, but if it pairs with Sphere of Safety or Fountain Watch, it's outstanding.
• Paradox Haze: Double the upkeep can be somewhat dangerous, but in a deck like this with so many things happening on my upkeep, it's worth the risk.
• Psychosis Crawler: Pairs nicely with lifegain and Oloro.

Yeah, good call. I'd seen this card before, but I must have misread it, I thought it said only my upkeep, not every upkeep. This will go in for sure. As for cuts, I rethought my two Auras - I liked the idea initially, but in practice I'm finding that they act more like a Pacifism, no one wants to give me more life.

With that many creatures and enchantments, it might be better to run Unburial Rites over Obz Aid, and also look into Replenish.

You seem to be light on removal. Swords to Plowshares, Vindicate, Hero's Downfall, and Oblation (this being the best overall removal that is a must include imho)

You seem to have a very high curve - I'd recommend more mana rocks. Especially due to some of your X spells, and mana sinks (as in Greed and Blind Obedience


You lack basic tutors. Could take out some of your high end low-impact creatures and anti-synergistic cards (crawlspace).

Thanks, but most of the cards you mentioned are either pretty expensive, or tuck effects, which we don't use in my group.

I do agree with your point about my curve though, so I took Righteous Aura back out and subbed in Obelisk of Esper. Thanks again for your input.

Very much understand on price. There are cheap options and my point was that you need more resets and spot removal. One of the best budget removal on a creature is Archon of Justice

Why no to tuck events? I can understand generals, but it is one of the most powerful ways to deal with problematic cards. You can even be politically with Oblation ("Hey you are drawing two cards"). Or if they steal something of yours (let's say via Commandeer), you can Oblation it to put it back into your library and YOU get to draw 2 cards ;p

@Sword of the Morning... I just wanna say. I like your style ;). This deck has some really good budget options that i probably wouldn't have thought of myself. I'm definitely stealing some cards for my own Oloro.

I think it's good to play some counters in your deck. Fitting your budget -- Punish Ignorance (if you don't have Absorb), Fall of the Gavel, Offering to Asha, Overrule.
