He is coming. A dark knight from the hellish gates of Grixis. A dead warrior incapable of pity or remorse. A killer without equal. He takes no side and covets no kingdoms, the Act of War is pleasure in itself. Death itself stalks the land. He is coming ... Thraximundar
excerpt from https://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/stf/34
Thraximundar to me is the definition of pressure in Grixis, In my opinion no other commander in these colors can put as much solo pressure on any one target. The biggest downfall to Thrax as a Commander is that he can get expensive really fast. I find building a deck that he makes better to be more efficient than building a deck around him, unlike other Grixis commanders that thrive more with a deck built around them. Thraximundar is a very cutthroat kind of guy, he can and will put fear into your opponents.
The Boy watched from the hill, until the smoke rising from the city blocked his view of the destruction. With each life taken, he could feel the Maelstrom expand with more energy - just as he wanted. Of course, there would have been easier ways to accomplish such destruction, but it wouldn't have been nearly so whimsical. Besides, Thraximundar was such a beautiful creation, so perfectly suited to mindless carnage, that Nicol Bolas didnt mind letting him run wild as he pleased, with a gentle nudge in the right direction. The dragon let his illusion of the little boy evaporate into the acrid air and resume his natural shape, with Thraximundar sweeping toward the green jungles of Naya, Bolas spread his wings and soars into the darkening sky.
Even Bolas found the beauty in the Chaos Thraximundar creates. "So perfectly suited to mindless carnage" The Zombie Assassin can ether be summoned to show someone that no matter how strong their situation is, it can go bad fast. Or He can be summoned for the Mindless Carnage, swinging randomly at a table to cause the Chaos that I for one absolutely love. I would have to agree with Barniellos in the Story forums that Wizards really messed up when giving Thraximundar his type. Assassin does not fit well as he is more of a Beserker, He isn't selective on who he kills, Everyone deserves to die in his eyes.
Who is Sirgrizz
My name is Cory, I am a 26 year old married man that has played magic since my big brothers got me into it when I was in elementary school. I have been a long time gamer with mainly playing World of Warcraft (still play regularly since the game came out) and Magic. When I am not playing games I am ether watching Bad Movies, Drawing/Painting, or Working on Cars for extra money. I took a long break from magic right after high school and sold my collection (greatly regretting now) for money to party with. After moving back to Iowa I got back into playing some magic when I found MTGO. It quickly got old as It lacked what I enjoyed most of all from Magic and that is the social aspect of getting to know people. So I quit playing mtgo and just played WoW for a bit.
After getting married I started finding myself some free time right after work, I remember a few friends that I work with told me about a comic shop that they go to and I thought I would go check it out. Walking in to see alot of people playing Magic and display cases full of singles. I knew right then that I was going to get back into Magic.
To start things off to build a card pool up I bought a fat pack and a few starter decks I also mainly played Drafts that happened every Friday night, was horrible at it but I ended up getting alot of cards building some fun Casual kitchen table decks. To find myself really unable to play them as most of the people who played regularly at the shop played Commander, sitting and watching some games I quickly fell in love with the format. I loved the social and casual aspects of the game, The fact that you can sit there and actually talk to people instead of play play play. Shortly after, I built my first Commander deck and havent looked back.
Currently I play the decks that are in my Signature, I still draft every friday night and I dabbed a little into standard winning a few FNMs to find myself not having fun and going back to drafting.
Deck History
I started playing Thraximundar in April of 2013, I wanted to get into Commander as it was what everyone played casually at the LGS. How I decided on Thraximundar was pretty simple, I played alot back in shards and I had a deck completely built around him and his sacrifice abilities and when I got back into Magic he was a prized item I had. I wanted to play him but I have always been someone who didnt want to do something someone else is doing, thus after some checking I found out that no one at the shop played Grixis colors. Sealing the deal on my choice of Commander and Colors.
Thraxieatsurface happened one day right after I built the deck, Someone playing a political game said to the other guy "I would be worried about him, Thraximundar will eat your face" making everyone laugh which in turn caused the guy to hit me hard, In response I put all my efforts into Making Thrax eat his face. Over and over again I said Thraxieatsurface hitting the guy for a total of 30 Commander damage and ever sense I felt the name fit the deck.
This deck has had 3 major overhauls. First was from my very clunky good stuff deck that almost every person starting out did, the deck worked really well if the right engines were in play and when I say engines I mean just thrax.
After getting my butt handed to me I upped the card draw and made the deck work more without Thrax (was tired of paying 20+ mana for him) The deck was solid, alittle clunky but worked more times than not.
The final (current) overhaul was brought on from the Commander 2013 product, for some time I was interested in making a Grixis Spellslinger and when the new commanders got previewed I took advantage of it and built my new deck. But when I built it I found that alot of cards I wanted for the new deck was in my the Thrax deck at the time. Sitting down and looking at my Deck I started remembering the Theme I first tried. Knowing more about my meta I started looking on how I could make Thraximundar the head of a Feared deck that he deserves. After alot of help from this site I have gotten to a very happy place with the deck. So much that it only sees play against a cutthroat meta on Mondays and when someone just does something that pisses me off.
Pros and Cons of this Deck
Pros
Playing Thraximundar gives you a aspect of gameplay that gets you around shroud, hexproof, regenerate and indestructibe all the while not getting rid of your permanents with a boardwipe. Making people sacrifice has it downfalls though, it is not as effective as targeted removal as it puts the choice in the opponents hands, but I consider that a pro.
In a political game, its removal that has that sense of "hey atleast I didnt get rid of your commander" where as targeted removal targets the most threat. Along with that you can even take it a step further, when someone has to sacrifice a creature they didnt want to, to save another one. Thats when other sacrifice effects become even more useful, taking the mindgames even further as they have made a hard choice for nothing. That is when your inner villain may Mwahaha
Also along those lines decks that greatly depend on Tron tactics this deck loves, they rarely have many in numbers making the choices even more limited allowing your deck to control the aspects of game play all the more.
This deck as a whole was designed to work with or without Thrax on the field, you do not need your general to make a impact on the game. This deck as a whole is very good at control pace of others and keeping itself in the game. Thrax is the tool to finish and he Finishes in style.
Cons
There are very few things that Grixis colors do not have answers for, but one of them is Enchantments, The Achilles Heel of this deck is a good Enchantment/Pillowfort deck.
Another con to the deck is token decks, not as bad of a match up as Grixis Colors does have some board wipes, but the fact that the player tends to have plenty of sac fodder making the pressure less effective.
Ramp....Grixis hurts when it comes to excelling your mana base to keep up with the decks that ramp alot. Its not a horrible con as we are lucky enough to have plenty of mana stones out there that allow us to keep up, but you find yourself to be pretty dependent on the stones.
You will Enjoy playing this deck
-If you like removal and hate all the tools out there that keeps targeted removal at bay.
-If you like kicking the feet out from underneath people, What I mean about this is this deck is great at stalling/stopping combo players from going off and putting them on the Defensive.
-If you like Card Draw, Black/Blue both have plenty of card draw to keep those hands full
-If you like decks that are not completely dependent on the general, but still likes him on the field.
-If you do not mind being the target
You will not Enjoy playing this deck
-If you like tokens, this deck just doesnt put out alot of creatures to swarm.
-If you like Ramp, as I said before Grixis colors lack in the Ramp aspect and depend greatly on Mana Stones
-If you like Tron decks. Thrax doesnt depend on a bunch of equipment/enchantments to make him scary. If you like that aspect I would suggest you go another direction
-If you like playing nice, Grixis is evil, your going to do mean things that will paint a target on your head.
There are quite a bit of tips and tricks to playing Grixis and I hope I can help some people out with the things I have learned.
One of the biggest tricks to playing Grixis colors is making sure you slow people down to your pace, once you get the mana to take off its hard for other decks to keep up with you but if they get a head start its no fun playing catch up. So with this I have a few tips to help slow down the game for you.
The first thing I see most people make is the mistake of is using Sacrifice effects like targeted removal. Saving them for threats when sometimes its just best to get a small threat off the field to slow the tempo of another deck down.
Do not be scared of losing life, you have to keep the pressure on, you can focus on staying alive when your less than 10 life otherwise you should always be attacking and doing whatever you can to take away other people's life. I cannot count on my hands how many games I have won with less than 10 life just because I kept the pressure on turning the tide in my favor.
Do not be scared to lose your creatures, there are some token producers to keep away from you having to make the sacrifice, but in the end of things remember if its going to slow down your opponents more than you, then you need to do it. There are some recursion in this deck that you will be able to use over and over.
Use your board wipes early, the concept once again is to slow down your opponents, the exception to this is against token decks, you want to save the board wipes for when you are about to send alot of damage toward the token deck.
The main point of the tokens in this deck is to protect you early and to act as fuel for the Engines that are in the deck that really get pumping when you can feed multiple tokens at a time.
This deck needs atleast 3 mana and a maximum of 5, only keep a hand if your going to be able to lay atleast 3 sources within the first 3 turns. Otherwise your going to want to Mulligan. What hurts this deck the most is keeping a hand that lacks the mana to put things out.
Thraximundar plays a huge role for this deck, he is the fixer. The deck often works just fine on its own and when he does get summoned at that point and time he is just a Finisher. But what Thrax does best for this deck is being summoned when you have no answer for what is going on. More times than not when Thrax gets summoned it becomes a momentum shift which is alot of what you need to slow down people enough to find the answers to the problem at hand. Having Thrax out and swinging puts pressure on opponents to answer him quickly before he gets out of hand which also takes the heat off you more so to answer your commander.
Final Tip/Trick I have is no matter what have fun, I see so many people playing Magic getting stressed and bothered about what is going on at the table that they end up making mistakes and playing their deck wrong. You die oh well its a game shuffle the deck and try try try again.:nod::thumbsup:
Card Discussion & Synergies
The core theme of this deck is making your opponents sacrifice their creatures, the Cards below help achieve that goal, some require other tools for the Engine to Work.
Thraximundar The main man (or zombie) himself, his abilities to come out swinging, get bigger and badder the more sacrifice that happens.
Sheoldred, The Whispering One & Nefarox, Overlord of Grixis are both solid creatures that compliment Thraximundar so well. If Thrax was a King, Sheoldred would be his Queen and Nefarox would be his right hand man. But back onto why I picked them, the Sacrifice triggers that happen from both of these to are very strong. Nefarox generally solo swings until Thrax comes out. Sheoldred generally never attacks her utility is to keep creatures coming back and keep your opponents creatures limited in number.
Mimic Vat One of the best engines in the deck. I find this tool to be a great choice for using 4 Slum Reaper & Fleshbag Marauder. Also great to use for those Creatures that you just dont want to leave just yet.
Keldon Twilight is a very nice card I found while searching sacrifice effects, this is great for this deck as more times than not if I have creatures on the field they are attacking, this makes it so that the people who like to try to build up a army before swarming really hurt themselves. They can ether swing and generally lose their creature or they can sacrifice a creature. Ether way win/win.
What I classify as good stuff is the Cards that really are not exactly one thing, they have multiple uses or are just the stuff that you really want in every deck such as Board Wipes, Some Counters, Some Tutors. The things that make the world go round.
Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker, Liliana of the Dark Realms are the planeswalkers that I chose, Nicol Bolas utility is unmatched, he has answers for everything I need and when it comes to it Liliana has been very useful with her Land Tutors.
Avatar of Woe this avatar has been a favorite card since I played back in the day. Only to be surpassed by Thrax, Avatar of Woe comes in great use for those moments I do need that targeted removal.
Cruel Ultimatum the cost of this card almost makes it not worth it until you actually cast it. Everything that happens is such a momentum shift it is a perfect tool to kick people's feet from under them.
Sepulchral Primordial & Grave Betrayal is everything fun about taking people's creatures from their own GY and using them to do your bidding.
Grave Titan & Massacre Wurm were both at first included as just black good stuff, until I realized the potential both brought. Grave Titan's tokens act as wonderful sac fodder and chump blockers allowing you to still keep the pressure on with the huge 6/6. Massacre Wurm is a key tool against Token decks and getting him out with all the Sacrificing that goes on, He gets lethal Quick.
Deathbringer Thoctar with all the creatures dieing on both sides this creatures utility is much welcome, need direct damage to take care of a threat before it gets out of hand remove some counters. I like to think this is more of Thraximundar's Hellish steed over the Dreg Reaver
Master of Cruelties Mr.Middlefinger to life gaining decks, this demon's presence is even more of a momentum shift than Thrax most of the time. I like to drop him early to put the game at a stand still until I can build more resources and make people use up removal on him.
Solemn Simulacrum One creature that I feel is a must have in every deck that has a lack of ramp.
Phyrexian Metamorph the core purpose of this guy at first was to be a filler until I got a different creature I was after, until I found this guy to be so useful, making him a copy of creatures that are really hurting my opponents or copying another artifact when I need. This creatures utility is a much welcomed addition.
Increasing Ambition I personally do not care much for tutors, the fact that were playing a 100 card singleton makes it all the more fun to let your deck give you the Chaos, but from time to time you need that answer. Hence why I put this in.
Stranglehold was a complete meta choice. Alot of Tutors and Extra Turns happen and I feel that this answered them perfectly. I find myself tutoring for this early just to get out.
Whispersilk Cloak and Swiftfoot Boots the only reason why Lightning Greeves did not make my list is I do not really care for Shroud I like to be able to target my own creatures. Only reason whispersilk is in is for the unblockable.
Hinder & Counterspell are the 2 counterspells I run in this deck. When I first made my deck I had around 12 counters in the deck and I found them more than not to be useful. I feel that these two are all I need to reset the tempo in my favor.
Blasphemous Act, Decree of Pain, Starstorm and Nevinyrral's Disk are the Board wipes that I have picked for my deck. I feel to keep the tempo at your pace your going to need to wipe the board atleast once a game, and each of these will do the job.
Ophiomancer, Cemetery Puca and Reassembling Skeleton are creatures I picked to get out early for multiple utilities. Ophiomancer's tokens and Reassembling Skelly both act more of Chumpblockers and Sacrifice Fodder as they keep on coming. Cemetery Puca if he can get out early enough can find his way to becoming something really great and giving you a huge momentum shift.
In Grixis colors the biggest need is mana, with the lack of ramp Grixis players need Mana Stones to make their day easier.
Chromatic Lantern I feel this is a absolute must for mana fixing in this deck, I am never sorry to see this artifact in my hand and always sad to see it destroyed.
The 5 Mana rocks below are obvious choices for mana fixing and acceleration
Most people I speak to give me crap for running Cluestones, but the utility from them being mana sources and late game card draw more times than not have helped me greatly.
Card Advantage is such a huge part of Commander that alot of times you would rather be drawing cards than not. I have found even if I do not have my Reliquary Tower that I am ok with thinning out my deck for the better. When I originally went with Grixis colors Card draw was a major player in my deck. I regretted dropping most of it and tuned it down to the things that have helped me out the most.
Consecrated Sphinx This card is seriously broken, the times that I have gotten this out and it has stayed out for more than a turn around the table has netted me so much card advantage that it single handily gave me the game. Also a great card to eat up removal if you want to be sure when you cast your finisher they have to waste their removal on this guy instead.
Notion Thief Mr.Middlefinger to card advantage players. Its always fun playing this guy when someone plays a Brainstorm making them in response lose card advantage.
Brainstorm is the only single use card draw I could justify keeping. I think I wouldn't mind putting more in but I find that the other Card draw I have in this deck is doing its work.
Bident of Thassa this card may seem out of place but the fact that you get rewards for hitting your opponent is very political. Also at the same time a great tool for when an opponent is on the defense making them swing their chump blockers to only go in for a untouched alpha strike.
Grixis colors just do not have Enchantment removal, These cards were put in specifically to answer enchantments.
Spine of Ish Sah & Trading Post work stupidly well together saving the game for me. Yes it is mana exhausting but believe me its worth it. I have found Trading post more than Spine to be overall more useful.
Eye of Doom this card went in to answer enchantments until I got better answers. To find it to be alot of fun, giving people a chance to blow up stuff aswell made it alot more political and chaotic and more times than not they blow up stuff in your favor as they are just as much threatened by them as you are.
Rogue's Passage has more times been useful for the sheer fact that its nice being able to get through with lethal damage when they purposely put out chump blockers.
Volrath's Stronghold a huge tool for getting creatures back, nothing like doing this at instant speed making sure you get the creature/answer you need for next turn.
Grixis Options and Considerations
Now I do understand that what I play is not everyone's cup of tea, I also understand that Grixis colors can accommodate many other play styles. So I wanted to go over a few other Deck types that Thrax can helm. At the same time I would like to discuss other Commanders that could be used for this kind of deck aswell as others.
Thraximundar- As I said before Thrax can helm any deck in grixis colors and add that pressure when you need it. Decks that I have had success with and have seen played really well with him at the helm is a general Grixis Good Stuff. Alot of Good stuff can make for alot of fun/chaotic games which in turn is a flavor Thrax provides. At the same time if I ever would change my Thrax deck I believe I will take it Zombie Tribal. Allowing Thrax to helm it allows for the strongest synergies Zombies can give which in turn makes for very fun deck to play.
Nicol Bolas- The Original Grixis EDH commander, Nicol Bolas to me can be alot of fun if you want to take the discard aspects of Grixis into play, Of course Nicol Bolas would be a ideal commander for a good stuff grixis for flavor reasons.
Crosis, the Purger- Along the lines of Nicol Bolas but not quite as much flavor, Can be a strong commander for a discard deck in Grixis Colors.
Gwendlyn Di Corci- Yet another fun Discard general, this seductive legend would helm a very flavorful deck.
Sedris, the Traitor King- Sedris can be at the helm of any deck that has strong fatties, personally I do not like him for this deck as the creature base isnt as strong but he would be a solid choice for any zombie tribal and or any Deck that has good ETB effects.
Garza Zol, Plague Queen- I have considered from time to time to take this Legend and placed her at the helm of a Vampire Tribal deck, the card advantage + the getting bigger aspects screams fun
Lord of Tresserhorn- I have seen this guy helm many Zombie Tribal decks as those decks tend to be able to accept the repercussions from summoning this huge 10/4 for 4 mana. A very strong commander for Grixis colors allowing you to enjoy doing alot of different things that you normally wouldn't want to do in a serious game but hey in EDH embrace the Chaos.
Sol'kanar the Swamp King- You will be surprised at how much Health you will gain from playing this guy, Alot of EDH decks out there play heavy on the Black and it is always nice giving your commander evasion through the swampwalk. Other than that he is just a favorable body for the Grixis colors that can helm many different decks.
Tetsuo Umezawa- A great choice for a low costing commander who can do some solid removal. Targeted removal is always nice and allows you to get rid of the threats you need to get rid of.
Nekusar, the Mindrazer- One of the more contriversal commanders that came out with the Commander Precons this guy can get out of hand extremely quickly and I feel could helm any Grixis color deck allow for you and many other great card advantage allowing for funfilled Chaotic games. The deck built around Wheel And Deal can be very effective. If your interested in something like this I welcome you to check out my budgeted Nekusar deck in my Signature.
Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge- Another commander that has been pretty popular due to the commander precons, this commander can make some interested games last a long time and I have found the games I have played with her she works best in a deck filled with spells and sorceries so you do not hurt yourself so much when you cast her. A solid choice for spellslinger grixis deck.
7/22/13-Posted Original Deck that I played from 4/13-11/13 sadly I did not keep the deck list changes and I am sorry for that, but the deck was very clunky.
12/6/13-Changes from 2nd Revision close to the current deck listed. Alot of core roots was incorporated into the deck with more emphasis on making players sacrifice. Also with alot of help from ISBPathfinder and Blackvise the decklist currently listed was born.
12/9/13- Found that my meta has had a recent uprising of Enchantment based decks encouraging me to go into the route of artifacts that can take care of enchantments. Spine of Ish Sah, Nevinyrral's Disk and Eye of Doom were the additions that found their way into the deck. Taking out Dissipate, Cruel Edict, and Chain Reaction
01/10/14- I wanted to get Burnished Hart into the deck I feel it is a solid card and is a must have, I dropped Cemetery Puca. Clone effects are nice and its nice from time to time for Puca to become a strong Creature that gets destroyed but at the end of the day I found it to be more of a dead body than anything.
Cards in Consideration
Dragon Wings- a solid suggestion from ISBPathfinder that I intend to put into the deck sometime soon, the problem isnt so much getting the card as remembering to get the card and sitting down and putting it into the deck.
Liliana Vess or Liliana of the Veil both in my opinion would be better than the Dark Realms version of her unless I get a card such as Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth which for now is currently out of my price range and alittle harder to get over Liliana Vess
Vicious Shadows a solid suggestion that would be a great addition to the deck if I can figure out what card is not pulling its weight.
Cards on the Fence
Sadly in every deck you will find some cards that just are not pulling their weight, the goal is to get to a point where every card is exactly what you want. But I doubt that day will ever come in Magic the Gathering. Until then cards generally stay in the deck until I am certain they need to be taken out and I know exactly what is going to replace it.
Liliana of the Dark Realms- I love this card for the land tutor, but as Blackvise pointed out, he other abilities just do not do enough with only 9 swamps. My goal for this card is to ether get my hands on a Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth or replace her with another Liliana.
Grave Betrayal this enchantment has been in and out ever since my first draft, I love the concept of getting creatures my opponents own, the fact that it is so costly that it makes it extremely hard for me to play this over another card. This tends to be just a win more card.
In Conclusion
Thank you so much for reading and showing interest in playing Thraximundar, If you can embrace the chaos and have fun, you can't go wrong. If you have any suggestions or questions I would greatly appreciate them all and will give my opinion. My deck is greatly designed around my meta and I do not claim to be a expert in playing magic. What I sharing is the accumulated knowledge I have learned from others suggestions/teachings.
I have always been a fan of Dragon Wings with Thrax. You can cycle it and it auto returns and enchants thrax when he comes out. It just seems like useful evasion on a card you dont have to bother casting which is nice.
Personally, I wouldn't worry too much about sacrifice based removal. I would just use good removal and let thrax do his thing. He kills in 3 kills on his own and its mostly unreasonable to think you are going to speed that up to a 2 turn clock. If he sticks long enough that he is doing that well then you are winning anyways.
I feel like more ramp and draw could be good. I would also go more to targeted removal over sacrifice based removal personally. Thrax generally tends to be better off as a goodstuff style of control commander rather than building around him. That is my experience at least.

Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.

Thats is actually how the deck I just built it from is, Goodstuff with a theme around sacrifice. I really like Sacrifice concept, I understand what your saying but the fact that people have to choose which creature they have to give up makes me smile. I do agree with the Ramp/Carddraw but I cannot figure out what I want to drop to do so.
Curse of Shallow Graves -> Trading Post the curse gives opponents tokens to sacrifice to your edict effects. For that reason alone, I think I would scrap it. Trading Post acts as a sac outlet and you can cycle your Spine of Ish Sah with it which I find amusing.
Cruel Edict and Chainer’s Edict need to go, sorcery speed removal is mostly bad but these are edicts to top it off. They really need to go. Turn them into draw or ramp in my opinion.
Chain Reaction -> starstorm the reaction is very situational and you cant scale it yourself really. Starstorm came in one of the precons as well, its instant speed, and if it isnt what you need, you can cycle it. I like that you can scale it based on what you need and you can make it smaller than the p/t of thrax if you want. It could be very relevant as well if you do it for like 5 damage and then use thrax to force them to sac their big fatty after their small guys die.
I really like the idea of adding Olivia Voldaren as well. You can poke off the small guys and force them to sac better things with thrax. Or you can steal their creatures use them how you want, and sacrifice them to your own edict effects that hit all.

I seriously have like a man crush on you right now ISB thank you so much. For the first time someone actually took the time and explained what should be taken out and why and gave solid suggestions to put in.
No problem, I have tons of ideas if you like them.
Massacre Wurm is also a questionable card. I have seen it in total blow out situations, and I have sat on it all damn game before. I would watch the card personally as I felt that there were too many situational games where it didn't work for me to really include it anymore myself. If you find it killing a lot of things and doing a lot of damage, then it can be great. I found the results I was getting were not impressive enough often enough for my own likes for the card.
Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder -> Grave Titan I like the breeder but you dont ahve that many creatures on average. What I see is that it seems too likely that you cast him and have to wait a turn, and then situationally if you have a creature to cast might get creatures. Grave Titan gets tokens immediately, the tokens have some decent size to them, and you run some haste enabling stuff as well so you might get 4 2/2 tokens immediately from him. In this deck, I dont really see a quantity of tokens needed so much as just some tokens and I think quality tokens are better in this case than quantity. If you were running more off of numbers as a deck I could see reason for the breeder instead but I think all around the titan will do you better here.
Ophiomancer -> Reassembling Skeleton I hate to say it but the snake charmer is sort of slow to make tokens. Its also relatively fragile. I think what you are shooting for here is just something to give you tokens for sacrifice / blocking purposes. Reassembling Skeleton + Goblin Bombardment is essentially a bad fireball as many times as you want which I love. I think reassembling just fits a lot of gaps for what you are looking for tokens for.
Mortician Beetle strict beaters usually dont measure up so well for EDH. Perhaps bringing in something like Siege Gang Commander for this. The gang is a sac outlet and brings in token friends plus acts as removal which are all good things I think for this deck. I could also see just some general draw or ramp here too.
Serum Visions with most one shot draw effects, you want to be gaining net card advantage or digging fairly well with them. I dont think this one measures up in the long run. Recurring Insight could be a strong power draw option if you are looking for some power drawing. Its super cheap $$$ too which is nice. Fact or Fiction is always a nice low mana instant speed option as well with some good value on it.
Arcanis the Omnipotent - I like him but you also really need to push for haste outlets hard in my opinion. He is a huge target and its sort of sketchy if he will draw at all. I think Consecrated Sphinx / Recurring Insight will likely draw a lot more cards for the same mana. I usually dont bother including him in most decks because its a turn before he draws any cards and that sort of effect tends to be hated on quite heavily. His return to hand effect is cool but also extremely expensive to drop him in with the mana up to bounce him. Overall, I think he doesn't work most of the time.
Notion Thief I notion (lol had to) hes not bad, that is assuming nobody else plays a Consecrated Sphinx against you. In that situation they have the option to draw you out assuming you cant disrupt it before they draw you out. I like it more with the more sacrifice outlets you run because you can disrupt it with a sacrifice outlet. Loosing the game via someone forcing you to draw you deck would not be fun though. I like him outside of that but think he needs to be used with free sacrifice outlets ready due to this.
Cruel Edict I completely agree on, but personally I've got some good use out of Chainer's Edict. The flashback more than makes up for the sorcery speed, and as you're in the best colors for creature removal it's not too hard to make sure your edict effects hit the right creatures.
I still say he has too much spot removal and too little draw though. I left Gatekeeper of Malakir alone but I could also see removing him and keeping the flashback sorcery. You need to lighten up on your sorcery target player sacrifice still in my opinion.
@Jace, Architect of Thought suggestion, I think its on the high price currently due to standard play. Its a decent card but I wouldnt pick it up right now if you want to play arround with it. Itll drop in price again by next year at the latest when it rotates from standard.
EDIT:Puppeteer Clique has also never done me wrong. That card has some much advantage to it especially in a sacrifice based deck. Rez an opponents creature, use it, sac it, sac the clique, rez another creature, and you can sac clique again. It essentially gives you 4 creatures for 5 mana considering how many sacs you get from it. It also doubles as graveyard hate. Its one of my all time favorite black creatures.
Awesome! thank you guys I cannot stress how helpful this is....Most of the time at my lgs when i try bouncing things off people they tell me that its a casual format, play what you want.
I still sort of disagree with you. Sorcery speed edicts are just too slow in my mind. I would keep the instant ones over the sorcery ones. Cruel Edict needs to be the first to go for sure. I think the other 2 mana sorcery or the creature with kicker would be my other choice. The kicker one only hits one player as well and is hard to abuse so I could see that direction on the second one to cut but I really dont like sorcery speed one for one spot removal.
Awesome! thank you guys I cannot stress how helpful this is....Most of the time at my lgs when i try bouncing things off people they tell me that its a casual format, play what you want.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
Updated the deck using the suggestions, two cuts I just could not find myself doing was the Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder and Ophiomancer. There token production in my opinion is very valuable for the fact that I do not have many creatures in the deck. Allowing easy sacrifice fodder. I did increase my Mana Stones for a little bit faster get up....I almost feels like it is to much but we will see once I put the decks together. I feel if I dropped anything now it would be the Mana Rocks for Card Draw as I feel Im still lacking.
I like where you are going with this. Thraximundar is my first commander deck as well. I got a few legendary cards from a friend and built around him for my deck that is in sig. I took a more controlling aspect to my deck and then bring out my big guys for the win. I play in a fairly competitive meta but people do not generally play with tons of infinite combo/ruthless <T5 win decks.
Got the pleasure to play this deck alot this weekend. I figured out my appeal to making people sacrifice creatures....It is the fact that they have to pick, It's not my choice and yes there is a preference of what I would like to get rid of but the thing about EDH is every creature seems essential. The only decks that was able to keep creatures out all weekend was heavy Token Decks which is why I am in the process of looking for more things that can destroy enchantments....Assemble the Legion must not go unchecked anymore lol
I was actually just about to suggest Chaos Warp. Sever the Bloodline is another really good option imo; exile and token hate with flashback in your colors is hard to beat.
I tried Eye of Doom out for the first time last night and it actually wasn't that bad. The first time it went off was early game and I didn't really have a board state other than lands, so it was huge value. The second time I lost some irrelevant creature while taking out two swords and a Reaper King. The next game it got blown up as I didn't have enough mana to pop it the same turn. But, I had been getting hated out by Reaper King and it served as a lightning rod which allowed me to rebuild my board a little.

If combo should die before I wake I'll slide a Smokestack in every deck I play, roll in every shop wreck the Spirit of EDH.
I really like Aether Flash lol that might find its way to my Ruric Thar deck as that deck actually has fatties. This deck i feel would suffer from it if I find myself on the defensive, Im probably going to put Nevinyrral's Disk in and I might have to go down a route I was trying to stay away from....for the most part Ive been limiting myself to one tutor in this deck, I really dont like Tutors in any of my EDH decks but I guess if this is going to be my more competitive deck I might have to go down that route
Chaos Warp really is a card to consider but I only have one copy of the card and it will most likely be going into my Spell Slinger Grixis deck. I think im leaning towards the Artifacts that destroy those things.
Knowledge Exploitation - I like to think of this usually as a 7 mana Austere Command in Blue. Generally speaking, Austere Command is my target for it but it can be a versatile card especially if you are looking for outs for killing art / enchants.

I really am surprised you do not play Thrax ISB the knowledge of solid cards to support the Guy is amazing, Thanks. Also once again Thanks Blackvise, between you two my Thank Count has gone up alot in the last couple of days

I have played EDH for... like 4 years now and the one thing I am good at is rolling into new projects. I have built a Thrax deck like 2-3 times before in the past so I know some decent tricks for him. In the end though, I had an issue with him because my meta would kill him so often and wipe out my mana stones making it hard for me to recast him. I do really like thrax though but in general I have an issue playing such an expensive commander outside of green (my meta doesn't allow MLD for the most part).

That is probably the main reason why I only play my thrax deck when people are playing more competitive decks, people dont see what I am running constantly to fine tune their decks to beat it....It also helps that Im probably the only Grixis player in my area everyone else runs something with Green in it

Thraximundar is a very cutthroat kind of guy, he can and will put fear into your opponents.
excerpt from https://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/stf/34

Butcher of Malakir & Grave Pact Both of these cards were put into the deck to take advantage of both punishing people for removing your creatures and to work along with Sac Outlets such as Attrition, Goblin Bombardment using tokens produced with cards such as Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder. Also working well when you take cards from your Opponent with Spinal Embrace & Slave of Bolas
Twisted Justice, Far // Away, Syphon Flesh, Consuming Vapors, Tribute to Hunger, Diabolic Edict, Geth's Verdict, Chainer’s Edict are all of the one shot sacrifice effects. Out of all the Sacrifice effects out there I am a firm believer that these here are a the Core Group.

11/13/13-Updated my deck making it into more of a good stuff deck, the decklist http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=525392&highlight= the deck worked well but took a huge hit when I built my Spellslinger Grixis deck

EDIT: Puppeteer Clique has also never done me wrong.

Blatant Thievery - steal the token producers for yourself.
Knowledge Exploitation - I like to think of this usually as a 7 mana Austere Command in Blue. Generally speaking, Austere Command is my target for it but it can be a versatile card especially if you are looking for outs for killing art / enchants.
