One night laying in bed my Wife looked at me and asked why havent I made her a EDH deck to play. I said that she can always play one of mine but ya that was a invalid arguement. So here we are, The Wifey's Deck. She plays casually and this deck has been built for her/by her to play well against my decks. Generally she wins against my Thrax Deck, and Doran is a 50/50, generally very long games.
As I post this I really wish my wife would let me rework this Deck, Alot of cards I see could easily be replaced but she likes it how it is and the only cards she will consider are new cards from Theros when we unpack them, Im not allowed to purchase singles for this deck.
But with that said, any and all suggestions are welcome, I would be happy to take them to my wife and see if she will do it.
I'm sorry about the wifey's decision not to change cards.... Because Sunforger would be a great addition. Really I think any and all R/W decks should be playing Sunforger. The color combo lacks so much CA and tutors as it is.... Otherwise, it looks pretty fun.
I think she'll warm up to new cards as she sees them. If she ever gets the chance to see how some of the deck's current choices stand up against obvious improvements personally, then I bet she'll swing around. Let her have a look at Knight Watch versus Conqueror's Pledge for example. She'll open up to improvement if she understands why they are, in fact, improving the deck. Just my two cents from experience in a similar situation.
I agree, lol She refuses to play at the LGS mainly because she is really shy. So how she sees it is if the deck is good enough to beat my decks it doesnt need changes
About Sunforger, I probably could get that equipment in but wouldnt I want alot more 4cmc Instants? If that is the case I could see it not working out to well.
Perhaps build another deck that is similar that can showcase some of the more efficient cards, so she can see first hand the potential of them ... and then play it against her.
Certain cards can be talked up when you play them. Don't be shy to "inception" her, lol.
Build it to directly defeat her deck, then end the game with "feel free to use anything in here, I'm going to take the deck apart anyhow ... I just wanted to test some things out" or something. =)
This way, the card choices are her decisions, not you telling her what to do. Pretty good strat for everything in marriage, imo.
I would be happy to do that if it wasnt for the fact that White is the cards I am lacking the most of, they are so expensive, for me to build another would be to costly.
So as I am constantly changing my EDH decks for the better it has gotten to the point where my Wife's deck doesnt stand a chance. Thus my Wife has given me the go ahead to make changes to the deck. I have done quite a bit of changes. But still would be open to suggestions
Two of my favorite cards in a Gisela deck are repercussion and furnace of Rath. My own build goes heavy on damage based board control, with cards like earthquake, chain reaction, and blasphemous act, but either of these enchantments combine with Gisela for massive damage.
That said, repercussion won't do as much in this deck and damage based wipes would backfire, as it seems to be focused on aggro and token production. In this build, repercussion would make it impossible to prevent damage by blocking, so if that has been an issue, I still recommend looking into it. Also, Furnace of rath quadruples damage output with Gisela, with its drawback being negated by her other ability.
Depending on the number of players this deck typically goes up against, there may be another option to push into more aggro. With as little artifact ramp as it seems to have, swapping the general to Aurelia, the warleader might better fit this deck. A slightly lower cost, and still doubling up combat damage on the turn that the general is cast might speed up the clock enough to threaten the other deck(s?) again.
That said, it makes this deck more of a target during opponents combat. A lack of damage reduction and less profitable (less damage) to other players without Gisela might not work in kinds of games played.
As an overarching note, the curve seems a bit high and/or the ramp seems a bit low. If the problem is that other decks are outpacing this, some more ramp like boros signet, or tithe may be worth considering.
