The concept of this deck is to be a multiplayer burn deck. Burn is traditionally weaker in multiplayer, due to having to face down multiple opponents and running out of gas. The design of this deck utilizes damage-all-player spells to circumvent this shortcoming.
This deck is alot of fun to play, and definitely speeds games up. I have piloted it pretty successfully in many multiplayer games, from 3-8 players total. The bigger the group, the better it plays.
Give this deck a shot if you are tired of games taking HOURS to finish, you like trying to take on the whole table at once, or if you are tired of hearing that red is the worst color in EDH.
Stay away from this deck if you like creature-heavy builds or don't like drawing attention to yourself.
Lifelink equipment + Heartless's ability = a ton of lifegain, negating the downside on your own life total from his ability.
Ton of "deals damage to all creatures and/or players" spells.
Smoke/Blood Moon/Ensnaring Bridge/Silent Arbiter to inhibit the opponents' effectiveness.
Furnace of Wrath/Gratuitous Violence + Heartless's ability = instant lose for anyone who has an even life total.
Kuldotha Phoenix is a very solid blocker or attacker, and considering that almost a third of the deck is artifacts, achieving and maintaining metalcraft isn't too difficult.
Brittle Efigy/Chaos Warp because EVERY deck needs spot removal.
Fortune Thief is awesome for the surprise win.
Staff of Nin/Chandra, Pyromaster handle card advantage (along with Well of Lost Dreams and Druidic Satchel) and help put your opponents on even life totals, or you at an odd life total, for the Heartless/Gratuitous Violence combo.
Aether Membrane is the absolute best defensive creature mono-red has at its disposal.
Angelheart Vial/Druidic Satchel/Golden Urn/Pristine Talisman/Paradise Plume/Trading Post/Well of Life for the life gain. Perfect scenario: You are at an odd life total with Heartless and Furnace on the board. Tap Heartless for his ability; kill off all opponents with even life totals. For those remaining, remove counters from your Angelheart Vial to bring your life up to three, play a kicked Molten Disaster where X=1.
