I was putting together a stax deck, and originally had it run by Kresh, when I realized how much of a better choice Sek'Kuar is due to making tokens to feed the deck with.
I know that there are some things that can come out (such as Greater Good) and a few of the more specific hate cards could be moved to my sideboard, but until I have some more key pieces they'll just sit there filling up a slot.
Hey, sorry, I took for so long to review this list.
I would over-haul everything and take out the cute cards like random hate cards. The only hate card worth running is Pyrblast + Red Elemental Blast (For blue-heavy metas), Carpet of Flowers (Blue), Contamination/Infernal Darknesss (Anti-Green), and that's it!
From my understanding of EDH, the most common colours to be facing is Blue/Green, so main deck hate for it would not be bad.
If you want to focus on tokens, run only a few token production to feed whatever your cards are.
I would take out all the fat like
- Shauku, Endbringer
- Avatar of Woe
- Defiler of Souls
- Mycoloth
- Inferno Titan
- Engulfing Slagwurm
- Vulturous Zombie
- Irini Sengir
- Scythe Specter
- Lavaborn Muse
- Slum Reaper
- Cunning Lethemancer
Those creatures can go; keep the creature list to 15/16 at most, and run more utility creatures that feed off sacrifice effects like Braids, Smokestack, Contamination, etc.
I see that you could at least include 3 Wood Elves type cards; there are plenty, just look on gather for the full listing.
Goblin Welder, Squee, Goblin Nabob, Stranglehold needs to be in every Red/X EDH because they win you games if they go unchecked.
Where is your card draw? I understand this isn't a blue deck, but card draw + mana development leads you to winning the game.
I'd suggest running Sylvan Library, Phyrexian Arena, Dark Tutelage, Dark Confidant (Just proxy it, it's worth the money once you get it in your possession), Graveborn Muse (Phyrexian Arena #1 essentially), Anvil of Bogardan (Combos with Squee, and any form of graveyard recursion. Those belong in any Jund EDH deck, the rest is up to you.
I would run more sweepers if you don't care about your board; at the very least a single Damnation, Life's Finale, Decree of Pain, any Black Wrath of God. a single piece of mass removal in the form of Jokulhaups, Devastation, Obliterate (If your deck can recover as fast as mine does). Lastly, this is your call, Oblivion Stone, All is Dust - this is your opinion.
I would include at least 3 reanimation spells because you never if can win off another players' mistake. They discard Jin or Magister Sphinx on turn 2, and can't reanimate it. You have Animate Dead, Reanimate, Necromancy, Dance of the Dead in your hand. They are never dead since creatures will go the graveyard some point in the game.
I'd suggest running 3 of these Reanimate, Animate Dead, Make Mannequin, Dread Return (Flashback, combos with Squee, Nether Traitor, tokens - great card overall), Dance of the Dead, Necromancy, Hell's Caretaker (combo re-animator card).
Remember, Stax in EDH is not Stax in Vintage or Legacy. You have more space to roam and more math involved to build this deck. You won't always get a turn 2 Trinisphere into a turn 3 Ruination.
I would run red's best land-hate cards for non-basics as well.
- Blood Moon
- Magus of the Moon
- Ruination
- Shivan Harvest (This will win you the game against good/bad players)
Tutors as well, I don't see many or any. You have lots of access to tutors in your colours, this deck is part black. Demonic Tutor, Diabolic Intent, Signal the Clans (Creature Intuition in Standard), Entomb, and any form of land tutors like Farseek, Expedition Map.
This deck needs to be able to deal with every type deck you might face.
Any more questions?
A few of the cards in there are filler I'll admit, but I currently don't have the resources to spend on a bunch of high expense cards, but I'll make note of those cards for later on.
