I've been thinking of making a group hug deck for a while now and realized one day that everyone in our group loves Howling Mine effects. So I thought, why not make a deck with Kami of the Crescent Moon? The goal of the deck is to make everyone happy with free cards and fly under the radar long enough until you can combo out or have enough mana to mill everyone with "draw x" effects.
Please note that this deck is still in the development phase, any feedback would be more than welcome.
Strategy
For the first few turns of the game, our goal is to play effects that make everyone in the table draw cards such as our commander, Temple Bell, Prosperity, etc. This contributes to our game plan in several ways:
It helps us dig into our combo pieces
It helps burn through our opponents' libraries to make milling them later in the game easier
It makes us a less likely target because we are helping the other players
It makes us a less likely target because there are more threatening players because of our help
While our opponents are hopefully preoccupied with each other, our next goal is to build up our mana with artifacts such as Gilded Lotus and Gauntlet of Power. At this point, we should also start tutoring for our win conditions using our various transmute cards and our artifact/instant/sorcery tutors.
If we find ourselves under attack, we can use bounce effects such as Capsize and Evacuation, which will not only slow our attackers down, but may also cause them to discard additional cards at the end of their turn, assuming they have full hands because of all our draw effects.
Once we have all the necessary resources and it seems like all the other players have used up most of their spot removal/counters on each other, we can proceed to win the game through the means listed below.
Make everyone draw their libraries if all our opponents have less cards in their library than us. Otherwise, draw into a Feldon's Cane to shuffle our graveyard into our library.
Generate infinite mana and use it on a "draw x" spell such as Prosperity to draw our entire deck. We can then use cards like Stroke of Genius to finish off any remaining players. Alternatively, if we only have Stroke of Genius or a similar card in our hand, we can use it to draw our entire library and then use Blue Sun's Zenith to kill an opponent, and then any card that makes us draw exactly one card such as Jace Beleren to reuse Blue Sun's Zenith.
Laboratory Maniac
Generate a lot of mana with mana doublers such as Caged Sun and by copying them with cards such as Copy Artifact. We can then use "draw x" spells to draw into Laboratory Maniac and inflate our hands with the help of cards that remove our maximum hand size such as Spellbook. We can then cast Laboratory Maniac and proceed to deck ourselves with more "draw x" spells and/or Windfall.
Psychosis Crawler
Very similar to the strategy above, except that we use Psychosis Crawler instead of Laboratory Maniac. We just need to draw enough cards to kill our opponents. We can also clone Psychosis Crawler with cards like Phantasmal Image to make our opponents lose twice as much life.
Fantastic, would not want to play against it... but then again... that card draw... makes me want to hug you... very well design concept. However, know that players are not so naive and will attack you once they get a glimpse of what's going on. And most players will guess just from your commander. But keep them drawing cards to aid their own struggles against other players, and they might not care.
