I started playing Magic during Nemesis and played through Betrayers of Kamigawa. I was so severely displeased with the Kamigawa Block that I quit playing magic. I got back into the heat of things at the end of Rise of the Eldrazi. I drafted almost every week during Scars of Mirrodin and during that block I started playing EDH. Originally I was really against playing EDH because I didn't want to have to build new decks. My first deck was basically a Mono Black Good Stuff deck that I hated playing. Shortly after that I built my Sakashima EDH and I started enjoying playing EDH and everything took off from there.
Deck History
I built this deck because I was sick of the way our play group was changing so I just wanted something that I could have fun with. I don't win that often, but it is entertaining to see really weird and odd game states a I also don't worry about being really competitive and focus on winning.
Why you would want to play this deck:
* You don't care about winning
* You like completely changing the way normal games are played
* You enjoy shenanigans
* You like having fun
Why you wouldn't want to play this deck:
* You love winning and can’t take a loss
* You don't like other peoples shenanigans
* You don't like random combinations
* You like really linear decks
Strategy
The point of this deck is to have fun and just do absurd things like fatties on turn 2, make every draw 30 cards, and blowing up 18 lands in one turn. I generally like to accelerate the game until ridiculous plays are made and someone wins.
Now that the deck has Mind Over Matter, it can combo out. The best way is to get Temple Bell and Mind Over Matter in the same turn and proceed to combo out. You just tap and untap the Temple Bell till everyone draws their entire deck and you refill your deck by discarding Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre. If they attempt to stop the combo without using Split-Second, you just keep going in response to the removal.
Fun Stuff To Do
One game I cloned a Terastodon, took out 3 lands from one guy, then I kicked a Rite of Replication on and blew up another 15 lands. Good times.
Playing Tempting Wurm turn 2 then someone plays a Prime Time or other ridiculous stuff.
Braids is pretty fun too.
This will be updated with more stuff as I come across them.
I have board wiped, dropped Phelddagrif and beat the hell out of someone
I turn four turned a Braids, Conjurer Adept and put Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre into play and won the game with him.
This guy dropped Army of the Damned, flashed it back plus had a few more dudes out. I dropped Phyrexian Rebirth made a thirty/thirty and killed him with it. It was awesome.
Casted a Tumble Magnet and a Dismiss into Dream back to back and proceeded to blow up my opponent's dude. Getting killed my the illusion property is hilarious. Later I dropped a Wishmonger and continued to make my stuff unblockable(by giving my guys protection of the colors they creatures in) and blowing up there stuff. I won with this/these combos.
Stuff I Want to Add
I would like to add a Mystic Snake, just haven't decided what to cut.
Card Options
Counters - stops people from doing annoying and un-fun stuff.
Mass Removal - Keeps the game going and keeps people alive.
Dual Lands - I have a couple extra that weren't in other decks so I just stuck them in here. If you have them feel free to add them to your list.
Mirror Gallery - Stops people losing their generals due to cloning.
Anvil of Bogardan - I didn't add this because I don't like discarding and if I am forcing my opponents to draw they should have to discard.
Time Warp - Had it extra so I threw it in here. Its awesome to be able to drop another land or draw a couple extra cards.
Wishmonger - My play group has a love and hate relationship in my playgroup. Some people love it because it pretty much turns off spot removal which is really fun, while others get mad because their removal is gone.
Kederekt Leviathan - always fun to bounce the world. Have considered running Cyclonic Rift, but I like having a fatty and being able to Unearth it. Also a pet card, feel free to try other forms of mass bounce in your lists.
You might want to get rid of some of the excess spoiler tags in your thread. You shouldn't hide the decklist because its the best part of the thread.
For example, the section for the original thread should be under the deck history. Reasons why you would or wouldn't want to play this deck could also be under the same section. Card Options and "stuff I want to add" could also be the same tag.
You also don't want to make spoiler tags for things with so little text in them.
And last but not least, I'm not a stickler for rules... but you have to get your thread approved by the primer committee if you care about/want official primer status. They would probably tell you the same stuff I mentioned above.
OK Ill fix the small stuff, and I tried contacting them but they said I could just make a new thread, and when I inquired further I was ignored. So I just rolled with the knowledge I had gained previously. If I am wrong, please let me know and I'll go and redo the whole application process.
Err, Well, I'm not really an authority on this type of thing. I'm just trying to help you through the process It took me a while to get responses sometimes because of the level of applications and people just being busy. It was hard for me to be patient lol, but you might just wanna wait and see what they say.
I basically went to other primer threads and copied their layouts and tried to match their level of content. Now while I did mention not being an authority on this matter, I do have some experience with writing primers, poorly I might add lol. I know that when they get back to you they're going to tell you to add more content because they told me to quite a lot.
You'll probably want to do a card-by-card analysis. Write a short sentence or two about each card. I like to use the listing feature the forum has. This might be a little harder in a hug deck because some of the explanations can be as simple as 'for the hugz, dur'. But it might be possible to write a short paragraph explaining all the hug elements and then use some sort of "see certain area thing" in the space of a normal description.
Tempting wurm is great because for only two mana because you can get everyone's hands into play. This really speeds up the game and gets the fun going. Your opponents will be bashing each other while you watch with glee!
Here is the format
[1ist]
[c4rd]card name here[/c4rd][/1ist]
Just replace the 1s with Ls and the 4s with As.
This format really organizes everything and forces you to think about all your card choices in depth. This is my way of doing it, but there are many ways.
You are quite correct sir. Leyline of the Void isn't legal in bant colors. That is a super easy cut though, as Rest in Peace is actually much stronger and its actually legal in this deck.
Not sure if you want other pseudo-Tempting Wurm effects, but Hunted Wumpus, hypergenesis and Eureka are all great cards, even better if you are filling players hands up before you cast them. One of the things I run into in my Phelddagrif deck is long games, some have spanned 5+ hours, and as such a decent way out if players have stopped having fun in the game is Divine Intervention. Sometimes DI will even reinvigorate players with a will to win the game out right, kind of give them a second wind.

What I think was one of my best moments with my old Phelddagrif deck list was a Weird Harvest+Tempting Wurm pseudo combo. I weird harvested into a Tempting Wurm, dropped le Wurm and with glee saw how everyone took the chance to pull out their most violent fatties. Little were they aware of the Final Judgement I had in hand though The game was much safer after that.
Note: I'd drop Telepathy. It at best is a 1 costing bulls-eye target to your face. NO ONE who is a seasoned magic player likes their hands revealed, and they will make you pay for it dearly. What more, I've never found it to be worth taking up a slot in any decklist.
I decided to build a Hippo Hug deck after obtaining a Greek Questing (I know it's not legendary), and while I am still working out the deck, I was wondering if my mindset was right for this kind of deck, and if this was possible.
Basically, I want to make my 4 player EDH games into a game of Munchkin. I want to stay alive for as long as possible and then make deals with other players, and bribe them into helping me when neccassary. I don't want to win, so I will never be a threat, per se, but I do want to influence the game, and while making it pretty hard to attack me or want to (Norn's Annex anyone?). Really my goal is to pick one person, and either be open about it or secretive that I want them to win, while helping the entire table as well. Basically, if the person I want to win wins, I win, and more so, I want to make someone think about saving my ass when it comes to it.
Now, that wont mean I'll be nice about it. I've got mass destruction, I've got the new gideon to help me destroy face (Give someone a bunch of hippos to "Be nice" and then gideon ult after bouncing and replaying my commander.) and suture priest (Hippo burn!) but I dont think I'll win.
I was just wondering what your thoughts on that was and if what I want to do is possible, and maybe how a playgroup will look at it. I think I can see some people being very angry that I am choosing to "Team up" with a player, so i'll have to be really careful about how buddy buddy I get.
I occasionally do stuff like that. Like earlier his week we were in a 3 player game and one guy had an infinite hand size, as did I, so I used Trade Secrets on him and we both drew like 40 cards in one turn lol.
So I would think your strategy is rather viable. What I would do is get everyone's phone number and text them in game telling who your helping and what not(if you want to be secretive).

I like the way you think. I saw some other group hug decks centered around being a referee of sorts, making the game as even as possible, but I'm going for a more "You, win." approach. Also if I can get the entire table on my side, thinking I'm going to help them all, I can disrupt them by going "Nope." and pull out to my defenses last minute. Secretely I want to be the guy who stands by while everyone throws punches at eachother and then collects the betting money at the end. It's a totally different approach from my normal playstyle (Skytherix, Riku, Sharuum, Slivers) and I can't wait to try it.
My deck was budget based as well. I spent like prolly 60-70 on it(already had some stuff, excluding sleeves).
What you can do, which I think is ****ing awesome, is to team up and have people scoop to you. Like for example, a while back I was playing with a couple friends. One guy says,"Hey if you don't counter this, Ill scoop to you. So I said Ok. He Genesis Waves for 50, kills everyone, then scooped to me. I have had games where I have accelerated one guy and they kill everyone else and scoop to me to as well.
My comments on your deck:
Add Supreme Verdict and a counter package. Some people play some really annoying stuff. I would cut the ramp stuff, you can do a lot better things with the mana from your lands. You may want to look at Sylvan Primoridal. I honestly despise the card, but it can control some stuff that you don't like. Terminus is a great choice imo. Hypergenesis blows. Don't run it. Kami of the Crescent Moon is an all star. He should be mainboarded. In my opinion your deck looks too controlly. I'd cut some stuff and replace them with more group hug related stuff.

Haha, i can see that happening, especially with what i want to accomplish, which is to also make it hard to kill me. For instance i was 1v1 against my girlfriend playing slivers and was able to stall out for an hour before i exhausted all my boardwipes. I can see it where after someone makes the big push and just cant finish me off.
Honestly im not sure about running counters. Im using a small counter package in my sharuum deck and dont have very many counters available to me at the moment. I think i have a spell crumple and thats it lol.
Edit - I actually didn't see your recommendations before. I do agree that I have a few too many mana dorks, and and took out gyre sage for the selesnya Charm. I also took out Fyndhorn and a few other stuff you can see in the comments of the tappedout page. I also Added some counters, but I don't have a spare Hinder or Scattering Stroke.
Supreme Verdict is a no go unless I can trade for one on the cheap, as I'm using my only one in another deck. Also I do have a couple of board wipes already. Also not sure if you saw I took the Old Gideon Jura out and threw in Tamiyo. I like the new gideon for his ultimate, and ajani can place counters on an opponents creatures. I fully expect someone at the table to groan when I toss Ajani down just to "WTF" when I put a counter on their creature.
Most of the stuff on the maybe board I do not own yet, by the way, but are things that I would want for the deck that are not too expensive.
Ok guys here is an update. I recently learned that Trade Secrets is banned. Will probably be replaced by Fold into Aether. I still need to order the card. I also want to add Terminus to the deck, still need to acquire an extra one.
I want to say that Mind Over Matter is friggen awesome. Its so much fun to just randomly combo out and kill everyone. So its staying in the deck.

Card Options
Counters - stops people from doing annoying and un-fun stuff.
Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre - Stops you from mill combos like Tunnel Vision. You can also combo with him by using a Mirror Gallery and a kicked Rite of Replication. I have yet to do this.
Mass Removal - Keeps the game going and keeps people alive.
Dual Lands - I have a couple extra that weren't in other decks so I just stuck them in here. If you have them feel free to add them to your list.

Counsel of the Soratami - Sometimes I want to draw without letting everyone else draw.
Artifact Draw - Obvious use of these cards is to let everyone draw and accelerate the game.
Venser's Journal, Reliquary Tower, Spellbook - gives you infinite hand size so yo don't have to discard all the good stuff you are drawing.
Noble Benefactor - Essentially a Demonic Tutor on a stick. Always fun when he dies.
Ghostly Prison/Propaganda/Norn's Annex - stops people from attacking you, and especially deters token armies.
Kederekt Leviathan - always fun to bounce the world. Have considered running Cyclonic Rift, but I like having a fatty and being able to Unearth it. Also a pet card, feel free to try other forms of mass bounce in your lists.
Dismiss into Dream - Just added this. Makes everything die so much more easily and combos with Wishmonger and Tumble Magnet.

Other Lists
If you want your list posted in this thread, PM me the list and a small description of your deck and what makes it unique.

You'll probably want to do a card-by-card analysis. Write a short sentence or two about each card. I like to use the listing feature the forum has. This might be a little harder in a hug deck because some of the explanations can be as simple as 'for the hugz, dur'.
