Introduction
UPDATE: I haven't been maintaining this post for the past few months, but I'm back to working on this deck, and the under construction Primer as well. Criticism is very welcome!
I started making this deck when all I'd seen of Ghave was the image, name and a bit of the text box in the preview. It was initially a :symw::symb::symg: tribal fungus deck. When Ghave was finally previewed, I was really disappointed. A glorified Pentavus that's legendary? Regardless, I was determined to build a deck for him, because I'd always wanted a fungus general. I'm glad to report that now, I'm really happy Ghave, Guru of Spores is what he is. This deck is full of synergy, combos and some really fun shenanigans you can pull to get infinite saprolings, +1/+1 counters, life, mana and damage. The strength of this deck really lies in the redundancies in the list.
Ghave, Guru of Spores is truly the perfect :symw::symb::symg: combo general, because he allows for easy ETB/LTB trigger activation, generates tokens and pumps your creatures. I've found that even without infinite combos out, he can generate enormous advantage.
Algae Gharial: Gets around removal, infinite combo piece. Juniper Order Ranger: Creates multiple counters with each activation, which is useful when you don't have an infinite mana combo out yet. Twilight Drover: Not only does Twilight Drover create +1/+1 counters, it can turn them into creatures with flying. Works as a finisher with your combo active, or just flying blockers. Sigil Captain: Similar to Juniper order ranger, you get 2 +1/+1 counters, but they're both on the token. Golgari Guildmage: In a pinch, this guy can get you counters, but he's mostly in here for creature recursion
Pentavus: Your second Ghave. What's not to like? Twilight Drover: Makes flying tokens, plus it's a combo piece. Night Soil: This isn't in here specifically for token generation, but it does that too. Hoses graveyard strategies. Necrogenesis: This is your Night Soil #2.

Don't get me wrong, the combo is great. But don't the tokens you put out have summoning sickness? I don't think you can tap them to get the infinite combo you might be thinking of with Doubling Season. It is still REALLY good, but not infinite mana.

Unless I am wrong.

PS: Also, nice moustache.
If you are referring to the interaction with Earthcraft, you are indeed wrong, as a creature can be tapped to activate the craft even if it has summoning sickness.
Emmara is like the worst parts of Legends and Homelands got pregnant, aborted the fetus, tossed it in the trashcan, set it on fire and wrapped the corpse in a Dragon's Maze pack wrapper.
Have you considered adding some (or more) Persist/Undying comboing in the deck? In my opinion Ghave is the go-to general for said abilities, since with Ghave's abilities you can remove the +1/+1 counters from undying guys and add a +1/+1 counter to cancel the -1/-1 counter on the persist guys. It really goes nuts when you add the black Mikaeus into the equation. You're not heavy on black so his mana could be an issue, but he's still an autowin with Triskelion in play.
I've added some undying guys now, but have yet to playtest extensively with them. I have confidence they'll work out though.

I am new to this forum, but I just finished making a deck with Ghave for EDH. I was wondering why you dont have a Cathars' Crusade in here? If 5 tokens come in to play they enter the battle field as 5/5s and all other creatures you control get 5/5 add to them. If you have Parallel Lives, and Double Season in play, you get double from 5 to 10 to 20 which also means they come in to play as 20/20 tokens with 20/20 coming to other creature you control! which is kind of awesome. Add in something like Primal Rage and you own the board in group matches. Its kind of like a suto Coat of Arms, but cheaper and doesnt have a global effect.

Seems like a good fit. I'll pick one up next time I have the chance.
