This is my latest EDH project. It's an adaptation of my unsuccessful Vish Kal list to which I added green for ramp and better token production. Anyways, I have seen plenty of Ghave combo decks on this forum and I don't want to take this deck in that direction. Instead, I want to focus on creating tokens and then using those tokens to do powerful things. For example I love using Grave Pact + Sac Outlet to clear the board. I also love cards like Skullclamp which allow me to profit off of my tokens. I decided to go for repeatable token makers rather than single use ones because they are much more consistenly useful. The deck isn't built for competitive play, but I want it to be fairly strong among my playgroup. Without further ado, here is the list:
Combos I run:
Mikaeus + Triskelion = Infinite Damage
Ghave + Ashnod's Altar + Sigil Captain = Infinite Mana + Tokens
Ghave + Ashnod's Altar + Juniper Order Ranger = Infinite Mana + Tokens
Avenger of Zendikar + Ashnod's Altar + Nim Deathmantle = Infinite Mana + Tokens
Wurmcoil Engine + Ashnod's Altar + Nim Deathmantle = Infinite Mana + Tokens
Puppeteer Clique + Ashnod's Altar + Nim Deathmantle = Steal All Creatures from GYs
Woodfall Primus + Ashnod's Altar + Nim Deathmantle = Kill All Noncreature Permanents
Mikaeus + Sac Outlet + Puppeteer Clique = Steal All Creatures from GYs
Mikaeus + Sac Outlet + Woodfall Primus = Kill All Noncreature Permanents
Melira + Sac Outlet + Puppeteer Clique = Steal All Creatures from GYs
Melira + Sac Outlet + Woodfall Primus = Kill All Noncreature Permanents
Juniper Order Ranger + Sac Outlet + Puppeteer Clique = Steal All Creatures from GYs
Juniper Order Ranger + Sac Outlet + Woodfall Primus = Kill All Noncreature Permanents
Various Shenanigans with Doubling Season and Parallel Lives
Adding Skullclamp or Carnage Altar to any of these will allow for infinite draw.
Adding Grave Pact, Martyr's Bond, or Aura Shards will allow me to kill a ton of things.
Adding Exsanguinate will allow me to win the game immediately.
Adding Concordant Crossroads will allow for lethal combat damage immediately.
Obviously the deck is lacking cards that would be considered auto-includes. I just put it together from my collection and haven't purchased any cards to add to it yet. I highly appreciate any and all suggestions. Thank You.
There's a laundry list of white critters with good ETB token-making abilities that you could consider. Cloudgoat Ranger and Knight-Captain of Eos are the two major ones that come to mind.
Also, as a personal preference, I like Phyrexian Arena over Bloodgift Demon as it's generally less fragile. If you've got the cash, you could look at an Academy Rector engine with all of the sac outlets.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm definitely wanting to run the Academy Rector package with Debtors Knell once I get a chance to buy it. Phyrexian Arena will fit in with that package quite nicely. I have considered Cloudgoat Ranger and Knight-Captain of Eos, but I figured I didn't have enough reanimation to make them worthwhile. It's definitely something that I'll try out.

Ha, thanks for the compliment!
Anyways, the thing I like about the Captain is that his sac ability is relevant if you're drawing a lot of hate, esp. if you can feed him with other soldier-token makers. Elspeth, Knight-Errant is the obvious choice, but there's also other (maybe sub-optimal) choices like Captain of the Watch and Mobilization.
@Bismuth: I'm already running Elspeth, and I'll think about Mobilization.
Anyways, I obtained a copy of Concordant Crossroads and I'm wondering whether it's worth running. My view is that I should have the most creatures out most of the time so it should be useful.
Doesn't anyone have any suggestions? The deck is far from perfect.
Since you love sacrificing creatures for fun and profit, might I suggest Falkenrath Noble. I don't go infinite in my Ghave deck and still end up draining 15 to 25 life pretty routinely.
Aura Shards is brutal artifact and enchantment removal, especially in a token deck. It completely wrecks certain decks and even if you're not playing any artifact or enchantment dependent decks there's still likely to be a good target on the board more often than not. Plus you can fetch it with Academy Rector if you go that route.
Blade of the Bloodchief is a good way to build up counters. Ghave decks love to sacrifice creatures and this card rewards you for doing that. And it's got some obviously good synergy with Ghave if you like going the counter route.
Praetor's Counsel is a pet card of mine. I put it into all of my Green decks and have never regretted it. Winning off the back of this card is not terribly uncommon. It's fantastic.
And this may seem obvious but Grave Titan has been fantastic in my deck. He can pump out a steady stream of tokens (good as attackers and sac fodder) and is a really solid body on his own.
RE: academy rector. A very good card for Ghave, but not an engine and typically not reusable.
When Academy Rector dies, you may exile it. If you do, search your library for an enchantment card, put that card onto the battlefield, then shuffle your library.
Exiling it means without exile recursion or cloning it, you only get one shot.
and no love for attrition? Seems like a card you would like due to its interaction with grave pact.
Anyways, I obtained a copy of Concordant Crossroads and I'm wondering whether it's worth running. My view is that I should have the most creatures out most of the time so it should be useful.
I don't like to play Beseech the Queen in a 3 colour deck as most of the time, you have to pay 4 mana for an inferior Diabolic Tutor. Perhaps Rune-Scar Demon or Green Sun's Zenith would be a better choice if you can't grab hold of a [CARD]Demonic Tutor[/CARD.
Not sure what is Brainspoil doing in your deck, as there isn't any cmc 5 cards that is worth tutoring for. Maybe swap it for Juniper Order Ranger? Regardless if you are playing combo or aggro Ghave, the card still works well as a creature pump.
It's still not colorless, and has no color. That's a paradox. So either you're a Zen master or an idiot, I'll assume the Zen master for sake of argument. This card will have no paradoxes because it has a clear paradox. Deep stuff man.

I think I'll have to pass on Falkenrath Noble since it only drains one player at a time. My games are usually 4-6 players. I'll definitely be adding Aura Shards once I get ahold of one. I can definitely see the potential use for Blade of the Bloodchief, for one mana it's probably worth a shot. I too love Praetor's Counsel but my only copy is currently in another deck. I have noticed the weakness of Reanimate and some similar cards but I'm not sure Phyrexian Reclamation is the best option since I still have to pay the mana cost again.

Yeah that was my bad on Academy Rector. Still worth running though. I would definitely consider attrition, though with Grave Pact out I rarely have need of it.

Akroma's Memorial is a bit too expensive for me in terms of money and mana, especially money. I can definitely see your point on Beseech the Queen and I'll swap it for GSZ right away. Rune-Scarred Demon is a card that has eluded me for a while, but I'll track a couple down eventually. The purpose of Brainspoil us to Transmute into the Doubling Season that I'm trying to comvince my buddy to trade me. Juniper Order Ranger seems like a good add anyways though. He can even be tutored by Brainspoil.
Decklist updated to include some new Dark Ascension cards plus some other things. I ended up adding a few combos to the deck such as:
Ghave + Ashnod's Altar + Sigil Captain = Infinite Mana + Tokens
Ghave + Ashnod's Altar + Juniper Order Ranger = Infinite Mana + Tokens
Avenger of Zendikar + Ashnod's Altar + Nim Deathmantle = Infinite Mana + Tokens
Puppeteer Clique + Ashnod's Altar + Nim Deathmantle = Steal All Creatures from Graveyards
Woodfall Primus + Ashnod's Altar + Nim Deathmantle = Kill All Noncreature Permanents
Changing the thread title to reflect the fact that I added some combos.
C'mon guys. I know this deck has the potential to be improved siginifcantly. I would particularlly like to make sure that I have multiple routes to victory in case people hate out my combos (either out of the game or out of my deck completely). I especially love Ghave's ability to abuse cards like Grave Pact and Aura Shards.
"Some of the other guys dared me to go out, but I knew it weren't no ordinary giant giga-blasting blaze of unending flames that would scorch the whole world."

I'd play Young Wolf instead of (or maybe in addition to) Strangleroot Geist since you're not trying to beat down with Geist but rather just use it as food for Ghave and a source for counters. I've found Vigor to be fairly unimpressive even in decks that want to beat down, although I do see why you'd want him in the deck. If you're using it for defensive purposes, things like Kitchen Finks could be even better, although it is admittedly dependent on having Ghave in play to be really good. Woodfall Primus is incredible with Ghave in play as well.
Earthcraft will help you go infinite or do degenerate things, and is another target for Academy Rector. I recommend tracking one down if possible. Utopia Mycon is a redundant copy of Phyrexian Altar if you so desire to have one.

On the point of Strangleroot Geist, I like the fact that he has Haste because if I decide to load him with infinite +1/+1 counters he can attack right away. I could see running Young Wolf alongside it though. I definitely see your point on Vigor, but right now he's better than most of my other options. I have a copy of Woodfall Primus, but it currenty resides in my Mimeoplasm. Would it be better in here? Lastly, I'm hesitant to add Phyrexian Altar, Earthcraft, etc because my playgroup isn't full blown competetive and they don't want me to build an über combo deck.
I'm trying to stay away from too many combos so that my playgroup won't hate this deck, but Ant Queen definitely looks like it could be worthwhile, as well as Hornet Queen.
Mikaeus, the Unhallowed with ur general is just stupid.
undying creatures repeatedly, yes please
Yeah I know about Mikaeus, I just haven't been able to find a copy that someone was willing to trade. Also I'm not sure how my playgroup would feel about it.
Decklist updated, added some more ramp to get going faster. Also Genesis Wave and Exsanguinate have been amazing when I'm able to resolve them for X=10 or more, so I want to get a lot of mana out quickly. Also added some Persist dudes to combo with Ghave and/or Nim Deathmantle.
It's an interesting suggestion, but I feel like this would be one of the least fun ways to win. There's also the fact that it's not very useful when you're not comboing.
having earthcraft with squirrels nest is infinate
or have earthcraft, Ghave, and any of the following, doubling season, parallel lives, sigil captain, juniper order ranger, cathars' crusade, ect.
not wanting it in your deck because it is too good is understandable. i play ghave and im always singled out, so instead of taking them all out and them getting mad at me, i took them out, but in a decklist that is combo based, try to include all the combos you can.
