How does this one play? I have been debating running something like this with an alternate wincon of Primal Surge.
That, and I miss playing elves =/
EDIT: One more thing, all these tap elves, they love shiny boots, I recommend Lightning Greaves, with 0 equip cost, it just gets silly with mana elves.
As you caught on, this deck is very much Elf infused with a subtext of Druid tribal to its core. Like most elf-rampy-combo decks, this one gears towards dropping mana producers with a few that have the potential to go infinite mana when coupled with cards like Umbral Mantle:
The Druid tribal is supported by Gilt-Leaf Archdruid which both helps you continue to delve with the Commander as well as have the ability to pilfer an opponent's lands.
Other fun things that revolve around the 'elf' engine include:
Card Draw -
I'm not sure why I did not use Lightning Greaves in the deck initially, more than likely it is due to Sages of the Anima negating my ability to ever draw a non-creature card, and that Drift of Phantasms only tutors for CMC 3 cards.
I have not reviewed the Return to Ravnica block in detail for tweaking this deck, and as you can see I am quite sloth like in making updates/replies to my listed decks during the year on this forum.

I have been looking over all the Momir Vig concepts to build a Surge deck, I have been running Mimeoplasm, but I want something that is not such a 1 trick pony, your list only has 8 non-permanents which is awesome for my idea.
You might also take a look at d0su's list if you have not already, its one I have been getting ideas from also.

Further acceleration can be derived from using combo loving pieces like:
The Druid tribal is supported by Gilt-Leaf Archdruid which both helps you continue to delve with the Commander as well as have the ability to pilfer an opponent's lands.
Other fun things that revolve around the 'elf' engine include:
Card Draw -
Disruption (Bounce/Steal) -

I'm not sure why I did not use Lightning Greaves in the deck initially, more than likely it is due to Sages of the Anima negating my ability to ever draw a non-creature card, and that Drift of Phantasms only tutors for CMC 3 cards.
Thousand-Year Elixir and Concordant Crossroads serves for a global haste to accelerate the deck.
