I don't like infinite combos, or one-card kills like Insurrection. If that's your cup of tea, this deck isn't for you. While I don't like combos or one-card kills, I do like to make my decks as aggressive as possible, outside those conditions. I'd like to think I'm the nicest mean guy you know...or the meanest nice guy you know.
Sometimes, even a deck that doesn't go infinite can be more than my playgroup wants to deal with, if it is too cutthroat. So,I made this deck, in an effort to design and play something less cutthroat than my normal fare, while still able to pull out wins. This deck does not take the initiative; it is very reactionary and passive, I'm fairly certain much more so than the other Gwafa decks in the database.
The basic deck strategy is to play an early-mid game as inoffensively as possible. At the same time, the deck seeks to make any attack considerations against it as costly as possible, either in terms of having to pay mana, or having to risk losing permanents. If anyone manages to force attackers through the pillow fort, fog effects serve to blank those attacks. The deck also plays just a few hints of group hug as well, enough to make a few friends but not enough to introduce the chaotic board state group hug leads to.
Ideally, by the end-game, your opponents have largely taken care of one another for you, and you can now start laying your beaters, backed up by mass-tap effects, with your pillow fort still providing defense.
The deck also packs lots of removal. Most of the time, I'll only use removal in the early game against those who send attacks my way, or against problem creatures like Butcher of Malakir. In the case of board sweepers, I will reserve those for the end-game, or to even the playing field in an opponent's favor (so that he can continue beating on my other opponents).
...or, how to be a shut-in for profit.
