Description
This is a pretty straight forward token deck hopefully with a little bit of surprise elements in it. As you can see, there are quite a few instant spells in it to pop out tokens at any time.
Concept
This is definitely not a fast deck as it'll take a little time to build up some token buffing spells (such as the few enchantments that gives all my creatures +1/+1 together with some of the other creature abilities in here). But the idea is when it is needed, hopefully my tokens can come out as at least 3/3's or higher to either stop combat damage from coming in and can almost be used as creature removal spells (ie. block and kill).
Protection
- Various creature removal spells
- Sphere of Safety to tax players for attacking me
- Loxodon Gatekeeper to slow opponents down significantly
You may want to consider Well of Lost Dreams and Cradle of Vitality. A lot of Trostani decks gain a lot of life and Well is quite good for card draw in colors that don't have much.
For the manabase, how about Vitu-Ghazi, the City-Tree over one of the ETB tapped lands? Would seem to add more value to the token package mid to late game.
I have a Trostani deck I've been having good success with... you have some lower impact cards (Gather the Townsfolk, Call of the Conclave) that would be better served with higher impact cards (Midnight Haunting, Call of the Herd.)
I actually like Banishing Stroke quite a bit... getting rid of Commanders is always good. Mimic Vat + Populate = ftw. Baloth Cage Trap is more effective than Cobra Trap.
You'll also want some way to push the damage through. Overrun is a classic, but I run Prized Unicorn, Golgari Decoy and the like instead.
If you're going for 1/1 tokens, Sigil Captain is your man. However, I'm finding that due to the lifegain Trostani provides, you can wait until you've ramped to 5-6 before worrying about tokens... so my deck focuses more on Wurms.
Decide whether you're focusing on 1/1 tokens, or open to all types. If you're open, get rid of Pendelhaven Elder, Darien, Commander's Authority, and your lower impact 1/1 token producers (Gather the Townsfolk.) If you're sticking with 1/1s, get rid of Brindle Boar and Blade Splicer and the like and add Sigil Captain.
I'd get rid of Sphere of Safety, as EDH games often rely on fatties and paying 4-8 mana per attack isn't hard. Abundant Growth seems like a waste of a slot. Call of the Conclave is too low-impact... token recursion is key (Crush of Wurms, Roar of the Wurm, Beast Attack, Call of the Herd.)
I absolutely love Trostani as my general... poor Sygg, he barely gets played anymore.
Still waiting on the game I play Storm Herd with Cathars' Crusade out and 55 life.... why yes, I'd love 3,025 life.

Synergy
- Trostani, Selesnya's Voice with any tokens coming into play (it's amazing how all these 1/1's can add up and give you a ton of life to spare)
- Serra Avatar coming into play with Trostani, Selesnya's Voice on the field means instant double your life, which means double Serra Avatar's power and toughness
- Trostani, Selesnya's Voice + Rhox Faithmender means even more life

Some high-impact cards worth considering:
Storm Herd
Cathars' Crusade
Odric, Master Tactician
Aura Shards
Crush of Wurms
Cream of the Crop is good for fixing, Phyrexian Rebirth is the sweeper made for this deck. Penumbra Wurm is good wrath insurance.
