Intro: Ok so first of all, this isn’t my deck… This is a friend’s deck who doesn’t use this forum. We’ve played it a couple/10 times and it’s just a hoot to play and tough to play against. I was hoping for some input from you all on the cards. The deck has some obvious flaws (like only 32 lands and not the best land choices) but he’s a pretty new magic player (started with Avacyn Restored).
Some input that we’re looking for is what to cut and/or replace. The deck really focuses on making big tokens and then copying them to gain life and then punch away. Our meta tends to be mostly competitive and we run about 40 decklists on a regular basis from fog to Azusa.
Thanks in advance for the ideas/input!
PS: I’m posting this in Multi-Player because our best games are all MP but we play a ton of 1v1 also…
At first glance there are a couple/few underwhelming cards or cards that don't fit the theme:
1 Moldgraf Monstrosity - Would a Regrowth be better or keep the fat?
1 Phantom Nishoba
1 Serra Ascendant - Doesn't really jive but it's just SO good...
1 Centaur Glade - When I first saw this card I was not impressed but no one ever bothers to kill it and it almost always nets multiple tokens. Plus, mid-late game it's a nice mana sink
1 Indrik Umbra - For some reason, there's a soft spot for this thing. I personally think it's to clunky
1 Midsummer Revel - Meh, it's 5cmc and then you have to wait to build it up. It could be OK but I've not seen it in play yet
Terastodon could be good... worst case you blow up a couple of unneeded lands or enchantments and make 3/3 elephants right?

after more testing this weekend, Phantom Nishoba won two games, I still don't like it tho lol and Indrik Umbra was pretty savage when it could actually get cast
How about Parallel EvolutionDual Nature? Stops legendaries from sticking, while doubling up your own high-value creatures in a very populate-friendly way.
Oh, you think the losers' bracket is your ally, but you merely adopted the scrub tier. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn’t 4-0 an FNM until I was already a man; by then, it was nothing to me but an extra pack to sell for store credit!
I could see the benefits of Dual Nature but we are running 7 legendaries (including Trostani) so it may hinder our own game a little. Plus it's kinda mana intensive with the curve already being so high :|
To be honest, I've found that Elspeth(s) make too small of creatures to make it worth while. I think that Ajani could make a good addition to the deck but I'm not sure what to cut for him (and his first ability is just so unimpressive in edh). We do, however, run Phyrexian Processor now with great success.
Do you think this deck needs more card draw options?
Probably would be a good idea. I don't really see any draw power besides Garruk, Primal Hunter. Mind's Eye is the first card that comes to mind. Abundance isn't draw power, but it's very useful for fixing your draws. Get lands when you need them, avoid them when you don't. Cream of the Crop is another card I've recently found to be useful. Getting to scry every time you pump out a creature is pretty snazzy.
I think you could also benefit from more tutors, like Enlightened Tutor and Idyllic Tutor given the amount of enchantments in the deck.
And with the whole life gain aspect of Trostani, Felidar Sovereign wouldn't be a bad idea IMO

With the pump effects you have, you might look into Fungal Sprouting. Also, since you have all the Splicers, Precursor Golem would be a good replacement for Titan Forge (great for Populate, bad for targeted removal). Craterhoof Behemoth would rock so much more than Overwhelming Stampede.
You might also want a little more ramp that puts the land on the board instead of your hand. Ranger's Path is superior to Seek the Horizon. Cultivate and Kodama's Reach are also good. All of these are great with Rampaging Baloths.
Finally, a little more spot removal. Beast Within is good and you could use it on yourself in a pinch. Swords to Plowshares and Path to Exile are pratically staples.
Weak/Non-theme cards that you could remove to replace:
Phantom Nishoba
Titan Forge
Bear Umbra
Soul Tithe
Hoofprints of the Stag - Slow, try Luminous Ascension or with all the Enchantments you have Sigil of the Empty Throne
Indrik Umbra - mana intensive
Knightly Valor
Call of the Conclave
Courser's Accord - mana intensive
Roar of the Wurm - mana intensive
Hope this helps.
