Venser is a BAMF of a General who deserves respect. He is a versatile general and when you build a deck to take advantage of his abilities, he becomes down right dirty. I love the power that the deck holds to just take over a game almost at will. But I love long, drawn out games with interesting board interactions and epic endings so I don't usually play a cut-throat style with this deck. I usually play a more political style, using the deck to dictate other's moves and gain an advantage by focusing attention elsewhere until I feel like the game needs to end. Now games may not go the way I intend them to go, but I sure do have fun playing this style. I believe I play the deck in the true spirit of Venser, Shaper Savant.
Im not sure if it would fit the deck, but maybe have something to that allow you to kill your own commander like with claws of gix so you can cast him from the zone as needed, or bounce him back into your hand with something like erratic portal?
edit: my bad, just saw the deadeye navigator...

The lands aren't listed, but I would assume that land #1 on the list will be Riptide Laboratory. It is so important to this deck that on of the best plays is Trinket Mage -> Expedition Map -> Riptide Lab.
I think the deck needs GY hate cards such as Relic of Progenitus or Scrabbling Claws over Tormod's Crypt, but I guess that's a personal preference.
Parallax Tide is totally horrifying in Venser. Cast it out, then by your next upkeep you target 5 lands while retaining priority and then cast venser and bounce the enchantment. It strips out 5 lands per shot and its really brutal.
Sunder considering you can use your commander and bounce tactics to remove any real threat before hand this just seals up games.
It depends on how cut throat you want to go but those above two are some of the more harsh things he can do.
EDIT: thinking back Ashnod's Altar is probably totally amazing... You can use it on stolen things if need be or to sacrifice Venser. It works really well with Nim Deathmantle as well... mmmmm

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.

I keep forgetting that they un-eratta'd the Parallax cards, but this also works well with Decree of Silence.

Speaking of bounce effects, I see that he is not running one of the best ones in Capsize.
Really thinking of moving my Talrand deck this way. Too narrow to kill with drakes no matter how cool it is. I have to second ISB's ashnod's altar idea. With nim deathmantle and sower of temptation already in the deck, you have a really cool mono blue plague wind (barring shroudiness).
I know it's slow and maybe clunky at times, but has anyone tried sunken hope in a deck with this many power etb creatures?
Updated the OP...thank you ISB for your suggestions. I have taken a look at your list and I really like some of the cards you included. I put Parallax Tide in because it adds that much more power to the deck and it's another thing to abuse Venser's ability.
I LOVE the idea of Ashnod's Altar in a deck, but perhaps not this one...I have a Chainer's deck that this WILL be an auto include in..thank you for suggesting.
