Child of Alara
Some Babies Just Want to Watch the World Burn
About Me
Hi! My names Matt! I was introduced to MTG 3 years ago. My first experience playing was at a party with a bunch of U.S. Military soldiers. Thinking I was sitting down to play some Texas Hold em, you could imagine my surprise when these tough vets pulled out boxes full of Magic the Gathering cards. Unbeknownst to me, it seems you have a lot of time to kill sitting out in a desert trying not to get shot. Seems one way they killed time was playing a game with some cardboard cards.
I started playing casually and about 3 months in ran across the EDH format... I was hooked. I have built and disasembled 4 EDH decks including: Savra, Jenara(ISB's), Grimgrin and Brion Stoutarm. After some life changes, recentley becoming a single Father of a beautiful 3 year old boy, have decided to sell off my collection and build a single deck. So steps in Child of Alara... fits the situation splendidly. So with out further introduction...
About this deck
This is my farewell to MTG deck. It is a reanimator/goodstuff deck. This is a very rough draft of what i want the deck to become. Being that it is a goodstuff deck, I will also be trying to throw in answers for what the people sitting across from me are trying to do. I am in the process of adding a counter spell suite, which i plan to mainly use for countering graveyard hate. The suite will consist of Glen Elendra Archmage, Hinder, Spell Crumple and Pact of Negation.
I do have a few guidlines for this deck such as...
-I will not put combo cards in that are not good on their own. Triskelion, Ashnod's Alter
-Though banned Primeval Titan will stay in this deck.
-Added "Card Pool" section
- Received my Child of Alara Alter. Big thanks to AlteredPrints.com!!!
- Bought a Foil Child of Alara over at Mythic Games!!! In case Child gets tucked i dont have to use my Alter.
Not Much to say..its a Goodstuff.dec. No theme..just good cards. It's kinda like my 5 color Sliver Queen deck (only has 2 slivers in it)...but it does have a Cascade subtheme..since cascade is probably my favorite mechanic ever.
ok fine I will comment a little...first of all playing Primeval is dumb..its banned for a reason.
Cards you decided not to include:
Skullclamp - amazing with x/1 creatures or sac outlets
Sol Ring - your stuff costs alot
Trinket Mage - gets Skullclamp, Sol Ring, Nihil Spellbomb, Top
Cards that are not necessary (my suggestions):
Primeval Titan (Trinket Mage)
Batterskull (Skullclamp)
Urborg (dual, shock, reflecting pool)
Tainted Wood (dual, shock, reflecting pool)
Tainted Isle (mountain, having 1 is good)
Scapeshift (Farhaven Elf)
Primal Growth (Coalition Relic)
Cultivate (Darksteel Ignot)
Doomed Necromancer (bring in Necromancy)
Apprentice Necromancer (bring in Corpse Dance or Makeshift Mannequin)
Overall I don't like that you have lots of creatures and playing Child..it seems Horde of Notions reanimator would be way more awesome)
Yea I understand Prime Time is rediculous. But I play in a local playgroup that has to much love for him (me included) to take him out.
-As far as your land. Ill pick up a Reflecting Pool ASAP. The Dual's will come through trading soon enough as well as the rest of my shocks and ONS fetches.
-Necromancy will go in. Sun Titan synergy is awesome
-Scapeshift can go. As well as Batterskull and Apprentice.
-Primal Growth is to dear to go. It was always my hidden gem and dont mind saccing a utility creature to get 2 untapped land in play.
-I like Doomed N. as Lark fodder
I play child for 2 reasons.
1. He fits my personal theme of the deck. A baby that blows up the Magic world. Given my situation (Single Fatherhood has given me little time for playing, therefore I am selling my collection) and my sense of humor, Child fits my personal theme perfectly.
2. It allows me to run all my favorite cards. Including my Alt Art Child.
