I threw this deck together to get my girlfriend started in EDH. I feel that 31 lands is a little short, I need help making cuts. There are also a few more cards that Id like to add listed below, but I cant decide on what to cut. PLEASE HELP! (When it comes to cuts, I'm a little hesitant to cut the Splicers because they are kind of her pet cards)
After a little testing, both on my part and her part, we changed the general to Rhys, the redeemed. As I mentioned before the splicers are her pet cards so im inclined to not cut them. Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Ant Queen
Trying to convince my girlfriend that the golems are nice, but maybe this card could replace one. However, it is her deck and the golems are her pet cards so I'm not going to cut them out without her approval.

Tokens on entry seems good, something to bounce with Conjurer's Closet, also can become a decent beater/blocker because of vigilance. Bonus points for looking pretty as a foil.

I realized that without having Trostani, Selesnya's Voice at the helm of the deck life gain wasn't really something this deck has a lot of.
Give us a little information about the deck and your group. Do you want your girlfriends deck to be easy to play? Competitive? Have interesting interactions? Should there be a theme? The deck right now doesn't seem like it has a ton to do with Trostani's populated ability, but then again it doesn't need to. However, if that's the case and you're going for more selesnyia goodstuff, I'd much rather see you put Captain Sisay at the helm or Saffi Eriksdotter. That way it's much easier for you to build around and for her to play.
No ideas of my own right now, though you're right about the land count. Her sitting there unable to play her cool cards because she's short on lands is not going to endear EDH to her.

One other thought, depending on how she wants to play. There's a guy in my playgroup whose wife often comes and plays Jenara. She plays good cards in the deck, but nothing that makes her a huge target. She does win sometimes, and usually gets to 'play' the whole game because of not being a target. For this reason you might want to drop cards like Elesh Norn. Yeah she affects her tokens and everyone else's creatures, but she irks the whole table.
I like Wayfaring Temple, and even got one thinking of using it, then realized it's just a big fat creature that can get blocked by a plant token. Meh.
Consider replacing a pump card with Kamahl, Fist of Krosa. He pumps... AND gives trample.
I think part of the problem you're running into is that you have a creature heavy deck, and an enchantment heavy deck. If you were going to cut some enchantments I'd axe Intangible Virtue, Midsummer Revel and Growing Ranks to start with. You have a populate general to start with, and none of your tokens are huge (aside from Armada Wurm's baby). Intangible Virtue's virtue (ahem) is really the vigilance piece. The pump is negligible. Midsummer Revel is just unimpressive in relation.
Maybe cut Asceticism as well as, unless you're going to cut creatures, you're probably always going to have another threat in hand so protecting individual creatures isn't a big deal.
Rhys is NOT an easy general if you're learning the game. Rhys is excellent, but not good when you don't know what card advantage is and how it's used.
im not sure im following you here...how exactly a one drop split color general producing token and doubling them is more difficult to play than Trostani?
It can be use with exactly the same build, and will do a lot better job than populate...

I updated the deck list above to reflect the changes. After playing a few games and seeing Rhys the Redeemed in action my girlfriend enjoyed the awesome power he wields. She was also very lucky to have resolved Cathars' Crusade, Seedborn Muse, and Sterling Grove so Rhys was even scarier.
The question I have now is how much protection do I need to add to make sure Rhys can work his magic? We are going to play around with the deck a little more and let her get the hang of it before I add more tutors for creatures. That way she will understand what the cards do before she tutors for them. She is starting to quickly realize which enchantments she wants to search for with the few tutors we have already.

I know the splicers are her pets, but they are the weakest picks to me.
