**NOTE** This deck focuses on using Eight-and-a-Half-Tails as a Voltron/Control general but any of the legends are more than capable of being utilized as an efficient general.

The Army. Background check.
The Army was my very first EDH deck and I created it as soon as I was done with the Divine vs. Demonic duel deck... so the summer of 09. Back then I called it Akroma's Army and I tried to do an angel/soldier tribal deck but I quickly found out that it would be more efficient to build a more Death and Taxes style deck. Before I came to this version of the deck I had taken it apart and put it back together about four times because I always found myself unable to apply enough power with mediocre creatures and spells, that has changed with the help of this website and it's users.
Serra Ascendant-This card will make you enemies and fast. But that isn't a problem when you're dropping this turn one followed by a turn two Luminarch then Ghostly Prison. It replaces Kitesail Apprentice as soon as I get one.
Isamaru, Hound of Konda- A very aggressive small creature that can easily serve as a voltron general. Worth testing once I get one and would likely replace Sunspear Shikari.
Student of Warfare- It is better than Kor Duelist, especially because it isn't dead late game or without equipment.
Devoted Caretaker- Another protection guy. It will mostly be used for protecting non-creatures from spot removal spells but serves as a lightning rod itself. For metas with a large amount of spot removal it is an auto-include.
Weathered Wayfarer- This card can get you out of a tough spot or just ensure you hit land drops if you are going second or are playing in a group with a ramp deck. Will test when acquired.
2 Drops
Precinct Captain- Actually seems really good. If he gets down quick he can produce a large number of friends, who could be fed to a skullclamp. Warrants testing.
Ethersworn Canonist- Combo in your meta? This says cut the crap. Overall great card and doesn't hinder you when you drop swords then a dude.
Jotun Grunt- Too many GY decks doing janky things? Put that to rest with this efficient beater. Will be going into the sideboard when I put it together.
Rune-Tail Kitsune Ascendant- Almost always flips as soon as it comes out and basically turns all your dudes into sponges. Best in a meta where creature combat or damage-based sweepers are prevalent.
Wall of Omens- Cantrip in white that can hold off small attacks. Great card in a more controlling version.
Auriok Champion- Red is played in EDH? Well if it is in your meta there is no problem shoving this and the next card in your SB for some pro red shenanigans.
Grand Abolisher- I just recently faced the Seedborn Muse + Teferi/Leyline of Anticipation take a turn every turn deck and I am not ammused. This card stops that and pesky counterspells alike. An addition over one of the higher drops when I get it.
Suture Priest- Tokens a problem? Turn their doubling season against them and deliver the pain. MD in a meta with a ton of token decks and good SB in metas where you have one or two token players.
Kami of Ancient Law- Blows up enchantments. Friends playing with Rhystic study? not anymore. Decent card for consideration MD but always good for SB against Zur, Uril, and Bruna.
Phyrexian Revoker- Is there a pesky planeswalker on the field? everyone has a sol ring but you? Is a General getting outta control? Not anymore with this creature. If I find room I'll throw it in MD but it will likely wind up in the SB against annoying generals.
Whipcorder- Somebody keeps attacking you for no reason? Threaten to continue tapping their dude or promise that you'll save them from someone's bigger creature. Decent card that could prove very useful in creature heavy metas.
Samurai of the Pale Curtain- Once again more grave hate that is MD in the right meta but for me it is definitely a great SB card and will be in when I make it.
Thalia, Guardian of Thraben- I'm on the fence about her usefulness in this format as a lot of the times people do have a little extra mana, and the fact that this deck isn't more creature heavy keeps me from using her. But, if you have a more creature heavy or controlling list, this card should definitely be considered.
3 Drops
Soltari Visionary- If you are sick of all the Zur, Uril, Sigarda, and Bruna? decks in your meta use this card. The shadow allows him to almost always hit and he gets better if you voltron him up for easy evasion.
Soul Sculptor- This card in conjunction with Soltari Visionary is repeatable spot removal. If not it is still a very good way to temporarily stop a creature from causing too many problems.
Transcendent Master- 15 mana for a 9/9 lifelink, indestructible dude can be hit or miss. The fact that the mana doesn't need to be paid all at once is a great bonus but for now I am avoiding it. If it has been wonderful for you feel free to say so.
Intrepid Hero- Kills dudes, big dudes. A great card in games where everyone has big generals or just big dudes. Great card MD there but for now he is a SB addition for me.
Fiend Hunter- If you really want to make D&T into and EDH deck (with the next card as a general) this card is great. Many blink effects allow him to just shoot pesky creatures or generals in a repeatable manner. Because his effectiveness isn't as useful in my specific deck I'm leaving him out, but he is a great card when in a synergistic deck.
Mangara of Corondor- Repeatable vindicate? Yes please. Well when built around he is great but here where he is essentially a vindicate that is also a target I pass. Build around to see him shine.
True Believer- There aren't too many effects that you'll be doing that require you to target yourself so this being shroud and not hexproof is hardly an issue. This may be a bit too narrow in EDH though seeing as many effects are global but I'll do more observing during my games and see if it deserves a spot either main or side and please give some input on some of its uses.
Blade Splicer- 4 power, 3 mana. Not much else to say which is why I'm not that impressed with this card. It gives extra bodies to throw under the bus or into combat but I don't have much room. Aggro list or lists that care more about the bodies/artifacts will enjoy this card. Definate consider for your deck.
Silverblade Paladin- Can turn fatties into FATTIES. But he doesn't do much else. He isn't the best top deck after a wipe as he needs another dude to be a threat. Aggro lists should definitely consider.
4 Drops
Wishmonger- A heavy downside but if you find your voltron warrior continually being chump blocked by tokens then give this card some consideration.
Witch Hunter- Bounces generals again and again and again. Can also be used as a political card by bounces an opponents ETB dude.
Hokori, Dust Drinker- I might give this card a test seeing as it is sitting in my binder doing nothing. Playing with mostly mana rocks really helps with this guy but if you are ahead and drop this guy the drawback is less important.
Magus of the Moat- Moat is a great card... it is also expensive. This alternative still gets the job done. But wait, does't it hurt us? Switch to Linvala or another angel and beat face with swords. Really shines against green based huge dudes.dec.
Magus of the Disk- Threaten people to blow up everything with this dude. Better than the actual disk in my opinion because he can put in the beats.
Magus of the Tabernacle- Laugh at the token players and their dismay. With the small amount of creatures on your side of the field this drawback will hardly ever be seen as one.
Silent Arbiter- Even more non-combo token hate. It is also very good if people keep swarming someone ad you play it as a means to be political.
Celestial Crusader- Pump on a dude but has the same problem as crusade that it helps other players. Best played in a token heavy, pump heavy deck.
Michiko Konda, Truth Seeker- Another user picked her over 8.5 and he testimony got me thinking that it is something I would like to test in my deck. Reverse Annihilator seems like it would be pretty fun and act as a good deterrent.
Commander Eesha- A pretty good creature to go voltron as it is very hard to block. It can also serve as a commander to decieve your opponents into thinking your deck is a push-over.
Angel of Jubilation- A lord for all your dudes, except colorless ones. It also stops things like Necropotence and Ghave from getting out of hand, or working at all. I will probably end up having this card in the SB versus heavy suicide decks or Ghave.
Hero of Bladehold- A house in standard. EDH? I need to be proved that having this card is important but I can definitely see it has a huge impact in creature heavy aggro lists.
Stonehorn Dignitary- Another great card for a D&T build but also just a good card for surviving another turn. This card gets bonkers with a Mimic Vat. Consider it.
5 Drops
Glory- Massive 8.5 style protection seems nice but you have to get it in the grave and keep mana up as well as remember it is there. With all the other bookkeeping this deck has to do I don't believe this card is worth a slot.
Stuffy Doll- I have seen it do very cute things but that is really the extent of my knowledge about this card in this format.
Pentarch Paladin- Why was I uninformed about this card? With 8.5Tails this guy is shooting things down once a turn.Yes there is a somewhat steep mana requirement but I believe it to be worth i and will test when I get a hold of it.
Stonehewer Giant- Not only does it fetch swords for 2, but it equips those swords for the same two and can even swing before he does it, get the sword and get bigger the same combat. (be careful of timing though) I will try to get it and see if the efficiency is as good in practice as on paper.
Shattered Angel- Is someone playing Azusa? Is everyone playing fetches? Well now you benefit too. I don't think I'll have any room MB but I will definitely consider it for the SB and you should too.
Blinding Angel- Kaalia, Vorosh, or Uril getting outta hand? Hit them on the crackback and continue hitting them and they are no longer a problem. Just make sure they lose before someone takes care of the angel. Great SB card against very aggressive decks.
Spelltithe Enforcer- You like being mean? This card is for you. It hurts non-token players the most but having to pay that extra 1 can be very important sometimes. I think I will test this card as a MB option if I can find one. Consider it heavily for controlling builds.
Precurser Golem- 9 power for 5 mana is a great investment although a timely smelt will ruin your fun. Aggro lists want this card especially alongside Blade Splicer.
6 Drops
Palisade Giant- I like the card but it might be a bit too expensive for what it does. If your list is less competitive, use it because it is decently frustrating for all out aggro players with sub-optimal lists.
Adarkar Valkyrie- Is apparently very hard to get because I have been wanting to test her. I feel like she could be good or horrible so testing will tell.
Deathless Angel- Great ability, horrible art. Until there is different art I don't see myself testing her. I think she is great though and can be used politically and aggressively.
Yosei, the Morning Star- Why must there be so many good 6 drops. This card is very good but at the crowded slot I'm not sure I will find a place for him.
Crovax, Ascendant Hero- Best in a token heavy horde army. Same drawback as crusade sadly.
Steel Hellkite- Just a good card. It is at it's best against tokens or other decks that really are heavy on one cmc,
Wurmcoil Engine- Will be in the deck. I'm looking for a spot. It is just that good to leave dudes being after a wipe and his lifelink is just so good.
Purity- If for some reason people are using burn, play his card. Otherwise it is a bit narrow.
Patron of the Kitsune- We aren't really a fox deck but the ability is sound and comes on a decent body. It adds to the bookkeeping though so I probably wont test it.
Sun Titan- Recursion and a nice body. I am just looking for room to put it in. This is a near auto-include.
Duplicant- A great way to deal with certain things *cough* Iona. This card is one of the only ways to copy creatures in white and it has many uses. I will probably try to find room in the side but it would be a great card main and warrants plenty of testing.
Aegis Angel- Gives something indestructibility plus comes with a great body. I want this card MB so I will look for a place. This card is so good because you have plenty ways of protecting her.
Admonition Angel- I like this card but with the prevalence of wipes letting anyone have an advantage because of you does not sit well with the other players. In a meta without many wipes definitely give her a try.
Felidar Sovereign- This card will make you enemies but if you are playing your game correctly you will win then turn after this hits. I will likely have it in the side for when there are no aggressive decks being played.
7+ Drops
Sundering Titan- Very hated and you'll be hated if you play it. But so fun with mimic vat.
Archangel of Strife- If you are playing her you should be doing it to aggro. This girl will just kill people. Consider it in evasive aggressive decks.
Angel of Serenity- The cost is high but the benefit is pretty sizable. The card gives what is basically a three-for o-ring but if it gets removed cards will go back to hand not the field. It can snipe cards on the field and from the grave and you can use it on your stuff so they are less likely to blow her up.
Celestial Force- Lifegain, tons of it. In a list that needs it, it is great but I feel your deck needs to be able to use it well. Or pull it in when the game is huge. I'd like twelve life before my next turn.
Artisan of Kozilek- This card really should replace the Crusher I have MB and it will eventually. This card is just fantastic at getting just the right creature back.
Lands
Mistveil Plains- Repeatable way to stop opponents from taking advantage of your grave and from yo being forever unable to reuse a card. I'll likely include this when I get it.
Eiganjo Castle- Why not? Besides blood moon effects and land clones this card is better than a plains. Why not play it.
Mikokoro, Center of he Sea- Cheap repeatable card draw. Everyone befitting isn't too bad if you are taxing them efficiently.
Vesuva- Kill Urborgs and other legendary lands. Can also copy some utility lands.
Inkmoth Nexus- I have used it on Cockatrice to win when I was a turn from dying. This card is great and I just need to get one IRL and it will be MB. It survives wipes and is great with swords.
Kor Haven- This card is versatile. It can be political, helping out a friend's creature, or it can just be used to help your hero survive in battle. It is something I will likely include if/when I get it.
Reliquary Tower- I'm not sure this deck needs this card. There isn't much card draw in white and as such this card doesn't shine in a list with many colorless sources already. If you can use it to the fullest then please do.
Thawing Glaciers- A pretty good card advantage engine for white. Best used at the end of an opponents turn so it can be used twice, this card is decent and warrants testing.
Deserted Temple- Great land alongside Temple of the False God and Thawing Glaciers. This card gets better with the more utility lands you run. Warrants testing.
Flagstones of Trokair- Essentially better than a plains. It will be added when I get one.
Enchantments
1 Drops
Land Tax- Holy card advantage Batmen! This card is just so good, especially with Scroll Rack. My only problem is that I only like the Judge foil so it will be a while before I add this card but it is definitely worth the slot.
Genju of the Fields- I think this card is cute so I added it. I just really like this card and if you do too please play with it and tell me it is super powerful so I can justify the spot.
Inheritance- If you have the mana this gives you cards when dudes die. It will also fly under the radar as you wont be getting tons of cards so you wont become a target. It is definitely a good card and great if you really need more cards in your grip. I may test it if I find one But I hate how cluttered it looks due to the old wording.
Divine Sacrament- See above... and the crusade drawback strikes again.
Crackdown- Looks so fun against other voltron decks or just big dudes decks. I will test it when I get it.
Aura of Silence- Pesky artifacts and enchantments again? Look no further. This card is so great it is MD material once I find it's place. This forces opponents to pay 3 for a Sol Ring and can be blown up to destroy something that is dominating the board.
Rule of Law- Combo hate. This is really good as a SB option against combo but can really be a stop to a lot of crazy stuff like counter wars that take forever.
4 Drops
Marshall Law- You have to wait until turn five for it to work and even then its effects are marginal unless there is one permanent that is really bothering you and even then there are better options. Not a good card.
Marshal's Anthem- Used to be in the deck but didn't make the cut. Will be going into the token version.
Light from Within- Good pump for non token creatures so it likely wont make the cut in either deck.
Kismet- I prefer the loxodon but if you need another card for redundancy then look no further.
Leyline of Sanctity- Pretty cheap, and possibly free, way to give yourself hexproof but without the addition of a body. If you relly need the additional protection go for it.
Angelic Destiny- A reusable buff that gives evasion and can be tutored for. When I get one I will test it.
Curse of Exhaustion- Still more combo hate without hurting the other players. A great card in the side against combo players.
6 Drops
Martyr's Bond- Stop blowing up my stuff or I start blowing up your stuff. Seems good but the cost is a deterrent, I'll get around to testing it.
7+ Drops
Eldrazi Conscription- I've been informed this card is a house with 8.5Tails so when I get it I'll test it.
Artifacts
FREE
Mana Crypt- A free Sol Ring. While I am skeptical, I have been told that this card is just great. So if I can get my hands on one of the judge gift ones I will test it out. Any support for this card will be great to hear.
1 Drops
Scroll Rack- Card advantage. This card is made better with Land Tax but is good enough on it's own to be played MD. Will add when acquired.
Skullclamp- I own one but I need more convincing that it is good here.
2 Drops
Cursed Totem- I prefer Linvala as she beats. But this is good if you need redundancy.
Winter Orb- Nobody likes the player who plays this. Better used in a dedicated deck ad a more cut throat meta.
Howling Mine- Helps everyone at the table draw cards but it allows you to draw cards so if you are playing right they can't use their cards efficiently anyway.
Mind Stone- It's a mana rock that can draw you cards. Not the best option but it is a budget option that isn't horrible.
Shrine of Loyal Legions- Something interesting that I thought about. If gotten out early it can help against a horde of tokens or create a horde after a wipe.
3 Drops
Crucible of Worlds-Reuse all of your LD package without fear of a greater threat coming. It's price is a tad restrictive but if I get one I will test it, unless I test it on cockatrice first.
Static Orb- More stax effects. Great if you are going voltron or trying to maximize these types of effects.
Ensnaring Bridge- If you find yourself dumping your hand very fast or not wanting to run card draw then this card is great for added defense.
Mana Web- I played against this card on cockatrice and hated it so much that I loved it. It forces your opponents to use all of their lands as soon as they tap the first one. I will definitely test this card.
Journeyer's Kite- A "worse" Land Tax. It comes down later and costs to be used but it isn't restricted in use. Test both to see which you like but having one will help with CA.
Coalition Relic- A mana rock that can add two of a color in one turn if used correctly. Another budget option, but a pretty good one.
Culling Scales- Wanna blow stuff up? Use this. Be careful though.
Swiftfoot Boots- A better Lightning Greaves? I will be sure to test it to find out.
4 Drops
Nevinyrral's Disk- White has plenty of wipes but if you want more, here it is.
5 Drops
Illuminated Folio- Card draw in white is always appreciated and being mono white this could easily be pay one to draw a card. I should probably add this to my list but I will test all the CA options before I decide on one.
Gauntlet of Power- It's a buff and mana acceleration, but it helps opponents and for that reason I don't recommend it.
Minds Eye- Another 5 drop card draw engine that is less conditional than Folio. This will probably be my choice but I will test first.
Citanul Flute- It fetches just the right creature but you have to essentially pay double for it. I will test this card because it can grab hatebears right when you need them.
6 Drops
Caged Sun- A gauntlet that only affects you. It is better but in my opinion, it is too little too late.
Norn's Annex- Another prison effect for aggro heavy metas. It is a great card to think about in any case.
Oblivion Stone- It can wipe selectively. If you really need more of these effects this should only be high on your list if you really dislike total wipes. Can also be used politically to save someones big dude or general.
Staff of Nin- Draws cards and pings, what's not to like? The mana cost is up there but it requires no further mana investment to work. It also has added efficiency in pinging. I may like this better than the eye. Testing will tell.
Planar Portal- Fetches anything but with a pretty high cost. If you are dead-set on fetching then this is great, otherwise it is meh.
7+ Drops
Spine of Ish Sah- A very expensive vindicate that is reusable. If you can find a way to use it to the fullest, I recommend it.
Instants
1 Drops
Swords to Plowshares- I am concerned with the efficiency of spot removal that only works on creatures. But this has accolades so of course I will test it. If you play many games where only a couple of creatures pose a problem or wipes are frowned upon, this is a great option.
Enlightened Tutor- It will be in the list as soon as I get it. This is a great fetch in this deck. Run it.
Angel's Grace- Comboing off? Not this turn you aren't. This card essentially gives you another turn against combos and alpha strikes. Definitely a great SB card.
3 Drops
Lapse of Certainty- White plays counters now. Only delays the inevitable but the delay could turn out to be very crucial.
Crib Swap- Another spot removal but it is more expensive. If you really need more spot this is the place to go.
6 Drops
Beacon of Immortality- This card is just so fun. Can be political or you can just gain tons of life. It is definitely worth the inclusion if you face tons of big dudes or you just want to have fun.
Idyllic Tutor- A three drop tutor, but in a deck with plenty of great targets, it is worth the mana. Will test when acquired.
4 Drops
Cataclysm- An interesting wipe that could potentially be devastating if your opponents have no answers to whatever you decided to keep.
Day of Judgement- Wipe. I'm not a fan of wipes especially ones that destroy all my things too but against token decks they are amazing. I will probably put a few in the side.
Golden Wish- If you play with a SB this card may prove crucial. I will discover that once I begin using my SB.
Rout- A possible instant speed wipe where you can use your turn to rebuild. Sounds nice and will test.
Hallowed Burial- Not just a wipe, this tucks generals and that is great. I will test this in place of Mass Calcify and Divine Reckoning.
6 Drops
Terminus- Tucks everything with the possibility of being very cheap. Great as redundancy.
Akroma's Vengeance- Wipe all the things! And with the added bonus of cycling when it isn't needed, this is a great card. I don't like wipes though so I probably wont use this, but it is a great card and it deserves testing for the wipe slot in any heavy white deck.
Planar Cleansing- Another all-wipe. Not very fun because it resets everything but lands and unless you are ahead on cards in hand you may get left behind.
Chronomantic Escape- Every three turns you get a moment of peace. The hiccups to their attack may be enough for you to properly set up your defenses against aggro. Might end up in my side depending on how my meta develops.
7+ Drops
All is Dust- Super-wipe is super-wipe. Play it if you want it.
Entreat the Angels- I am going to try this because hardcasted it is fine but miracled with the mana allowed in EDH this card is nuts.

Eight-and-a-Half-Tails really loves Eldrazi Conscription. He can protect himself from removal in response and it allows him to kill very quickly. It's also really nice on Avacyn, Akroma, and Iona. You could even run an Inkmoth Nexus to drop it on, which is an instant kill if nobody can stop it.
Should I remove the Ulamog's Crusher for it?
I have that along with the living weapons and karn as outs to opposing Ionas.
And as for Nexus I've been thinking about running more man-lands but have been unsure about the best options.
In 1v1 I could easily see the applications on the nexus, but with multiplayer is the differentiating damage worth it?
It is with all of the equipment you're running. You could actually cut lots of things and be okay. This list isn't very cutthroat anyway, so it won't make that much of a difference. If you want to get more competitive, you'll need to replace a good number of cards.
I've been thinking about cutting a large number of things that care about being equipped.
Ex. I would keep Puresteel Paladin but remove the Shikari for something like canonist.
My reasoning is that the buff they give themselves is negligible compared to the hate generated by the other cards of comparable mana cost.
Is my reasoning sound in that regard? The equipment themselves are what really do the damage.
Also I only recently added the D&T cards Leonin Arbiter and Aven Mindcensor and they are very impressive against people who enjoy doing comboey things or having excessive numbers of fetches.
From my second post: Should I remove the Ulamog's Crusher for it?

I like the grunt but I feel like he will die quickly unless I'm playing many people or playing someone who uses grave strategy.
Relic Warder is comparable to the unicorn and kami but has different pros and cons and i guess testing is needed to see which one or which combination is best.
Fiend hunter can't truly deal with pesky generals and o-ring can take care of creatures in the same way so I am skeptical, although it can carry swords.
Samurai; I have a few recursion cards but it would help against grave based decks I'm sure.
Doesn't Thalia hurt me just as much as the next guy considering the amount of non-creatures I run? I have them so that's not really a problem.
True Believer is an interesting alternative to the Leyline of Sanctity. Ilike it.
The Splicer I feel doesn't actually do as much as my other three drops as i tend to voltron it up with something like a mirran crusader.
I want to like Silverblade, but there is just something about him. Pairing him with Akroma when she is the general seems pretty enticing though. It warrants testing.
Is Bladehold good in EDH? I feel her battle cry effect will go un-optimized due to my tendency to voltron one or two champions up.... misleading deck name now that I think about it.
I've tried Captain and have been unimpressed. Same with the Ranger and Precurser Golem.
A large amount of my concerns revolve around cards being great in one matchup, but not very good in others. Should the deck have a Sideboard? Not many people have them that I know and might feel weird about me moving cards around before the game.
Also do you have any Comments on my number of lands? When it works it works but when it doesn't i always feel just a few short.
Same goes for my current chopping block list, I plan on doing a v.2 sometime tommorrow.
Thanks so much for all your help and I look forward to more.
Does this remind you any of an EDH version of D&T?
If you're running 8.5 Tails as your general, another neat trick you can do is use Story Circle naming white, and then proceed to prevent all damage (or as much as you have mana for) dealt to you. It's great if 8.5 Tails is your general and you have easy access to him, but Story Circle is too inconsistent to run otherwise. I'm personally running a more controllish Avacyn deck, but I've wanted to give 8.5 Tails a shot.
You definitely need some mana artifacts with only 35 lands and such a high curve (I'm assuming all your auxiliary generals are part of your deck as well). I see Thran Dynamo, Extraplanar Lens, and Gauntlet of Power on your list to add, which are all very good. I would also recommend Mind Stone and Everflowing Chalice, and when you add Extraplanar Lens, switch your lands to Snow-Covered Plains to make the Lens one-sided. Some other suggestions for tutors and card drawing are: Enlightened Tutor (if nothing else, get this), Mind's Eye, Idyllic Tutor, Scroll Rack (great with Land Tax when you add that), Staff of Nin, Planar Portal, and Citanul Flute. Oh, and Thawing Glaciers should find its way in to your deck as well. It nets you two lands if you do it at the end of your opponent's turn and then again during your turn. It can even get you three if you're swinging with a Sword of Feast and Famine or using Deserted Temple.
Story circle would be nice, but sometimes my group randomize our generals (their decks have at least two legal generals) so like you said, it isn't optimal without 8.5 Tails. And he is absolutely worth trying out as he is very good at protecting your control pieces.
Should I focus on adding more lands or adding more mana rocks? It is sad that white doesn't have a more powerful draw engine. I also didn't see that everyone with plains benefit from the lens, and I'm pretty attached to my full art zendikar john avon plains so I'll just remove it from the list as there are plenty of other mana rocks. Thanks for bringing that to my attention though.
The tutors both should be on my list, I must have forgotten to add them. Too good to not have.
My friend has a Scroll rack which I can get, I just have to pay my other card related debt first.
The other artifact CA engines cost too much mana-wise in my opinion.
I would add one more land (Thawing Glaciers would be great there), and then add maybe 4-5 mana rocks, or more if you find yourself short on mana. Another great one is Coalition Relic, as it allows you to save one use of it from the previous turn and produce two mana in one turn. Now that I think about it, I'd probably run that over either Mind Stone or Chalice. Mana Crypt is an auto-include if you can get it, but it is very expensive. Extraplanar Lens is very powerful and I urge you to reconsider. It's not just a mana rock, it effectively doubles your mana for a cost of only 3 mana and a land. You don't have to run Snow-Covered basics, but it's a good idea. The artwork on the Coldsnap ones is very nice too, although they're not full art.
And I would at least consider Mind's Eye for card draw, as it is cheaper than the others and has the potential to gain you massive card advantage in multiplayer. The others are probably better in a more dedicated control deck like mine. I would also take out Ajani Goldmane, as he doesn't seem to be all that good. Ajani, Caller of the Pride might be better (double strike and flying on a sworded creature seems good) if you still want to run a 4th Planeswalker. Umezawa's Jitte could also be a useful equipment, maybe over Champion's Helm. Devoted Caretaker and Weathered Wayfarer are some worthwhile one-drops to look into as well. I see Mother of Runes is on your add list, definitely add it. She's an infinite chump blocker on her own and protects your other creatures very well.
Do I need 6-7 Mana rocks though? My deck doesn't usually do more than one thing a turn unless it is equipping multiple times. I like Coalition Relic, Journeyer's Kite, and Thran Dynamo the best for mana rocks, (I don't like the price or effect of Crypt though, could you explain why it is good?) although i could test out using the lens.
I think I might just remove ajani and leave the walker count at three for now.
Is Jitte good in commander? I own one but I feel like it's abilities aren't super huge in this format, although I'd love to be proved wrong. Champions Helm, however I know is fantastic for me.
I want to like those two creatures but i currently don't.
I will be updating the changes section today if you'd like to give that a look and feedback.
Mana Crypt? That card is almost as good if not equal to Sol Ring, and if you have one or can get one then run it. It produces two colorless mana and costs 0. It may deal damage to you, but you have plenty of ways of gaining life, and it won't always deal damage. Maybe you're thinking of Mana Vault, I don't like that card either. Run as many mana rocks as you need, if you find yourself short on mana then keep adding more, but if you're usually okay with mana then you stick with what you have. I'm not a fan of Journeyer's Kite since it is kind of slow and doesn't really accelerate you, but use it if it works for you. Jitte can be good, I think, although it will depend on the matchup. It can kill off utility creatures, pump your guy, and gain you life if you're in a pinch. I'd say usually it's worth it. I don't run it, but I just don't have room and I don't focus on equipment as much as your deck does.
Also, I'd run Skullclamp over Infiltration Lens. Lens would be amazing in an Odric deck, but here it just basically makes a creature unblockable, and you have other ways of doing that. There's nothing more fun than clamping 2-3 soldier tokens and refilling your hand, except maybe doing it again next turn. Oh, and Swiftfoot Boots over Lightning Greaves. Greaves is a very good card, but you need to be able to target your creatures to equip them, and shroud doesn't allow for that. Hexproof does.

Preacher fits more in my Zedruu and Friends deck. This deck is like death and taxes and the steal effect can't be taken advantage of very easily.
I have used Iona in 1v1 against one and two color decks (Niv Mizzet and Jor Kadeen) as well as in multiplayer where one color is in every deck (Damia, Kaalia, Thraximundar, and Garza Zol). She works much better in multiplayer although with the addition of more mana rocks I feel her usefulness will increase.
Yea makes sense I like Iona as your multi general just looking over the list. And mana crypt us not equal to sol ring it's much much better in my experience but my games are very fast turn wise.
I have a cockatrice now and am able to do some change testing and so far I am sure of three things;
1. The extra land has definitely seemed to help.
2. Thran dynamo is also great.
3. Nexus is awesome.
I found some more angels (not all are pure angels) that are pretty decent in this deck.
Thoughts on
Thoughts on the SB, the thread, or questions would be much appreciated.
@enemywithin: I love your fan fiction. But I would really like to see your Avacyn deck. Would you mind posting it here or posting a link? If anything are there any synergies or tech that you have discovered?
@enemywithin: I love your fan fiction. But I would really like to see your Avacyn deck. Would you mind posting it here or posting a link? If anything are there any synergies or tech that you have discovered?
Sure, I'd be happy to. And thanks, I've been kind of taking a break from the fanfiction to work on an actual novel, but I might get back to it at some point. Here's my list, although some of the cards I haven't actually gotten a chance to play with yet. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated. I am trying to find a place for Blinkmoth Nexus, as it can swing with equipment and become a creature at will for Worship shenanigans. I'm also not a 100% sure on Sublime Archangel. She seems good, but I haven't been able to test her yet.
For mana accel I've got 3 mana rocks and 2 mana doublers, and for land search I've got Thawing Glaciers, Land Tax, Endless Horizons, Weathered Wayfarer, Solemn Simulacrum, and Tithe. That's why I'm a little lighter on lands than I might normally be with an 8 mana general, and I have to make sure that I don't get mana screwed, I haven't had a chance to test this. Additional mana rocks could be Mind Stone, Everflowing Chalice, or even Caged Sun. Avacyn also immediately becomes a target when she comes out. Cavern of Souls protects from countermagic, and I've got Greaves, Boots, MoR, Caretaker, and 8.5 Tails to protect her from targeted exile and tucking effects. Valkyrie protects against sacrifice effects, and the swords are more limited in what they protect from, but they can still protect her to an extent.
Sorry about the lack of activity guys, I've been preparing to leave for college and it has been pretty hectic.
I have about 60 more cards to add to the discussion list and I need to update my deck.
I also have some notes from testing that I will hopefully post within the next few days.
@enemywithin: I think I like my current land/mana rock count very much thanks to you.
How is Eternal Dragon?
I have seen people praise it and I have seen people say they hate it. Currently I side with those who dislike it because it seems very mana intensive for what it does and when it is able to do it.
Also, I see you run Mangara of Corondor without a huge ability to abuse him.
Would you consider adding Mimic Vat for shenanigans after killing him with something like Skullclamp.
You can then do many very cruel things like make him and block one attacker and exile another.
There are plenty of other creatures that could take advantage of it in your deck Stoneforge, Solemn, Twilight Shepherd, and Sun Titan.
Not to mention other players' creatures.
Oh and would you mind if I put your list in my second post? I forgot to immediately post to reserve space and I'd like to put up decklists, that people have mentioned in this thread or that I have drawn inspiration from, there. Moving what is currently there of course.
Sure, you can post my list. I'v made a few changes since then, though. I took out the Planeswalkers because they always died immediately and drew hate from the entire table. I seemed to only ever get to use them once before they died. If I had to put one back in, though, I'd put Karn back. I also reduced my Snow-Covered Plains count to 26. I figure I have so many ways of searching them out I can probably afford to run less basics and more utility lands. I don't think I want to go less than 26, though.

I like Eternal Dragon a lot. He's a recurrable creature that fetches you a land early game, comes back late game to beat face, and can be recurred whenever he's killed. You don't have to repeatably recur and cycle him, but you can if you have nothing else to do. He's pretty much become a staple in my deck. As far as Mangara is concerned, he's useful simply as a Vindicate on a stick even without a way to abuse him. But I can abuse him somewhat. I can use his ability, sacrifice him to to either Miren or High Market with his ability on the stack, and then recur him with Valkyrie/Emeria/Sun Titan/SoLaS/Karmic Guide. I can also bounce him to my hand with Stonecloaker in the same fashion.
But I would like to fit Mimic Vat in, I just have trouble figuring out what I can remove for it. Mimic Vat is probably one of those universally good cards that should at least be strongly considered in every deck, I'm just not sure I have room for it. Almost every creature in my deck could be abused with it; Karmic Guide, Magus of the Disk, Mother of Runes/Devoted Caretaker, Stonehewer Giant, Archon of Justice (w/sac engine), Sunblast Angel, in addition to the ones you mentioned. I might consider taking out Stonecloaker...

I hope this isn't too necro-y.
I finally feel comfortable with my class schedule to start posting in this thread again. I've updated the card discussion section with a few cards from RTR and updated my current decklist. I have a pretty stable playgroup now and plan on being able to post more actual game related content regarding specific cards, like which stick out as saving me or make me frustrated to draw.
I still haven't gotten around to making a SB but I plan on it in the coming weeks.
I plan on testing three flex slots with weathered wayfayer-Gideon's Avenger, True Conviction & Armageddon-Path to Exile & Swords to Plowshares.
1) What are your experiences with Angelic Arbiter? Really interested on running that card, but not sure if it's worth all the hate it supposedly attracts.
2) Do you think doing a Bant version of this deck with Rafiq at the lead is viable? It would be similar to this one, except featuring some UG for draw and recursion.

1. She is really great late game when people want to start doing tons of things each turn. She is also decent at politics if one person is getting teamed up on.
2. The draw and land fetching would help accelerate the deck a lot and I think it would do really well.
Thanks to Rivenor for the banner.

It is with all of the equipment you're running. You could actually cut lots of things and be okay. This list isn't very cutthroat anyway, so it won't make that much of a difference. If you want to get more competitive, you'll need to replace a good number of cards.
If Iona is really a big problem in your meta, strongly consider Duplicant, Brittle Effigy, Spine of Ish Sah, Oblivion Stone, Nevinyrral's Disk, and Intrepid Hero.
Mono Red's Strengths and Mono White's Strengths
I have that along with the living weapons and karn as outs to opposing Ionas.
And as for Nexus I've been thinking about running more man-lands but have been unsure about the best options.
In 1v1 I could easily see the applications on the nexus, but with multiplayer is the differentiating damage worth it?

I personally prefer hatebears and utility weenies in a competitive meta. Aven Mindcensor is one of the very few cards I run in every single deck I can. I might even consider it one of the top 10 cards in the entire format. Ethersworn Cannonist is good, as are Suture Priest, Kami of Ancient Law, Ronom Unicorn, Phyrexian Revoker, Eight-and-a-Half-Tails, Grand Abolisher, Jotun Grunt, Leonin Relic-Warder, Fiend Hunter, Whipcorder, Samurai of the Pale Curtain, Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, and True Believer can all seriously mess with the plans of your opponents while they beat them down with equipment.
Blade Splicer is worth mentioning for giving you two efficient, equipment-carrying bodies.
Silverblade Paladin is just nuts. Think about it for a second.
Some other cards to consider are Hero of Bladehold, Captain of the Watch, Cloudgoat Ranger, and Precursor Golem, as they all provide lots of bodies at a very cheap price.
True Conviction is probably the best pump you can ask for.
Mono Red's Strengths and Mono White's Strengths
The Kami and Unicorn seem great against enchantment voltrons as well as just good stops to stupid enchants.
I own Revokers but I feel like if there isn't something to name on the field they're dead or is there almost always something to name?
I realized recently how good Abolisher is, Seedborn Muse and Leyline of Anticipation is stupid.
Would Gideon's Lawkeeper not be better?

But I love those lands.

I think I might just remove ajani and leave the walker count at three for now.
Is Jitte good in commander? I own one but I feel like it's abilities aren't super huge in this format, although I'd love to be proved wrong. Champions Helm, however I know is fantastic for me.

1. The extra land has definitely seemed to help.
2. Thran dynamo is also great.
3. Nexus is awesome.
I found some more angels (not all are pure angels) that are pretty decent in this deck.
Thoughts on
As well as some SB cards.
Thanks to everyone so far for the help. A thread refurbishing will be happening sometime in the (hopefully near) future.

Card choice discussion.
Why you should/shouldn't play this deck.
Updated decklist.
Soon to come:
Card choice discussion for what is currently in the deck.
Recent changes.
A thanks list of those who have suggested more than one card.
I would like to test more and more so I will make a SB and test with the following:
Thoughts on the SB, the thread, or questions would be much appreciated.
@enemywithin: I love your fan fiction. But I would really like to see your Avacyn deck. Would you mind posting it here or posting a link? If anything are there any synergies or tech that you have discovered?

I write mainly horror/scifi/fantasy type short stories. Please read and feel free to send me feedback.
Thanx to Bookworm10 for the Sig.

-1 Elspeth, Knight-Errant
-1 Gideon Jura
-1 Karn Liberated
-1 Catastrophe
-1 Dust Bowl
-1 Sublime Archangel
-2 Snow-Covered Plains
+1 Thran Dynamo
+1 Citanul Flute (so far this really seems to work for this deck, and cheaper to activate than Planar Portal)
+1 All is Dust
+1 Stonecloaker
+1 Linvala, Keeper of Silence
+1 Miren, the Moaning Well
+1 Scrying Sheets
+1 Blinkmoth Nexus

Cheers.

Pauper: UR some horrible homebrew izzet deck
2. The draw and land fetching would help accelerate the deck a lot and I think it would do really well.
