Basically Ghave has a ton of interactions, some infinite and some just highly beneficial. After playing against my friends combo-driven Ghave deck for the past 2 months and now playing with a non-combo aggro version of my own that there are a lot of ways you can take Ghave.
Ghave can go many routes but these are some of the most effective in my view:
1. Ghave Stax
Smokestack at 6 is easily manageable for you with any token enablers like parallel lives or doubling season but almost impossible for your opponents to handle.
2. Ghave Combo/Control
Ghave is literally begging to go infinite, it's so easy with Earthcraft and literally anything else to make a huge army of infinite/infinite creatures (Juniper order ranger for instance) You can also control with white/black removal suites.
3. Ghave Aggro
If you're not interested in going infinite or don't want to be "that guy" go ahead and play this, with doubling season even if you don't go infinite you can do massive damage and get a huge army very quickly. Try out seedborn muse as well.
You can morph these together, notice how doubling season was in each one of those, but you'll do best if you focus on one
I think I am going to go with a combo/control route with this deck. I seem to be having alot of success with sacrificing my tokens towards other affects that control the game state and I like that part of the deck. I think my problem now is I have no clear finisher or at least I haven't seen one yet...
Also is there a card that just dumps all your enhantmenta on to the battlefield?
It That Betrays with Martyr's Bond is a non-infinite way to gain control of the entire table. Also, I would suggest Fierce Empath to fetch him out and then be Clamped for +2 cards.
Well I am starting to fall in love with the Stax affects so I want to tune my deck more towards a multiplayer stax. I have alot of combo, graveyard, and industractable in my meta. Here is the new list I am thinking...
You can't play nice and be competitive with Stax. Aside from 8-10 cards the entire deck is garbage, so you need to sort of go all in if you are going to play it.
(Here is my list from a while back)
Cards that you don't need are: Oppression - If the deck works right they shouldn't be able to play anything anyway. Genesis Wave - If the deck is working right you shouldn't ever get enough mana to make this worthwhile. It feels like a generic goodstuff.dec add in that won't really help the deck win. Nightmare Incursion - You deny their mana and creatures... I can't figure out why you would pay 6 mana to take cards out of their deck when for 3-4 you can play something that will cripple them even more. Juniper Order Ranger - If he is good you are already winning. Winmor. Protean Hydra - Might go with Ghave okay, but I don't see why he's here. You have plenty of beaters, there isn't a Ranger of Eos package, and he's just a fatty without some Doubling Season trick.
That opens you up for: Awakenign Zone - Blockers, sac fodder, and mana when all the land is gone. Garruk Relentless - The best planeswalker in the game (for Stax). All of his abilities are pretty much amazing all the time. I've won more games with him than pretty much any other single card in my deck. Martyr's Bond - At 6 it should be one of the few cards that expensive, but with Ghave it's clutch (combos with the tutor on Garruk 3 too :kank:). Academy Rector - Sacs to stuff, blocks stuff, and she's the best way to get your game ending Enchantments into play. Armageddon - It will win you games. It sounds like your group might be open to the idea since you can rationalize playing it any time you have A) 2 or more mana rocks, B) Can float mana to play Skyshroud Claim, Cultivate, etc.
Well when I first started the deck I really wasn't going to do stax but I threw in a few stax like affects and when they hit the field I was enjoying the reaction from the other players because now the game was a thinking game again... not just lets beat on Prophet first because if we don't he will ramp into a fatty and win... I had to actually earn my win and think how I am going to beat the entire table as well as play politics.
So after reading your thread and a few more ghave stax like decks I have come up with this... I tried to keep the mana down lower then six and concentrate more on three to four mana drops.
I would try to squeeze a Sword of X & Y or two in there though. They are about the best way to get your Bitterblosson tokens amped up and ready to fire when you finally decide to go on the offensive. The free 1/1s are great, but they don't seal the deal as fast as you might need. Elspeth 1's jump/pump ability is often how I win and then War and Peace does a damn fine job too. (no lands = people have lots of cards in hand).
Wow, that dimir house guard tutors for alot more things than I realized, I might add him to my deck if I am feeling VT,ET,DT, and SG arent enough.
I'd suggest Humility (4 drop). Topor Orb is a very powerful effect, but humility stops aggression as well as a ghostly prision and shuts down your opponents outs (generally attached to creatures) all in one fell swoop. It is by far my favorite card in EDH so I may be more than a little biased.
Parallel Lives (4 drop) tokens = good, twice as many = better
Graveborn Muse (4 drop) tutorable arena backup
Not a big fan of green sun zenith since you have so few relevant targets, and you really dont need more than 6 mana so primeval titan is more of a hindrance to you since your opponents can abuse yours as well (its also now banned)
I don't know how I feel about naturalize and disenchant, I feel like IF i ran those narrow cards, they would be better in their enchantment form since I could at least recur them with sun titan.
Minor nit-pick: Mwonvuli Acid-Moss js a sorcery and not a instant in your deck organization.

Lol... Yeah when I started to rebuild it I noticed alot of the good stax cards where four mana drops. I had to add him as an additional tutor.

Humility was actually what I was thinking to replace Primeval for now. I had one for my Phys but I think in this deck like you pointed out it would have a better use.
Parallel Lives (4 drop) tokens = good, twice as many = better
Graveborn Muse (4 drop) tutorable arena backup
I have gone back and for with Parallel Lives and the token generation is good but I think it is kind of redundant here since token generation isn't the main focus and with Ghave out he normally provides enough tokens to take care of my stax affects. Graveborn I'll have to try...
Not a big fan of green sun zenith since you have so few relevant targets, and you really dont need more than 6 mana so primeval titan is more of a hindrance to you since your opponents can abuse yours as well (its also now banned)
This is another card I have gone back and forth with. Getting Primeval wasn't it's main target. I would fetch Eternal Witness or one of the mana fetches after I have destroyed lands or need a sac creature. I'll keep testing but in the long run it may come out. I was thinking of adding Nouxious Revival instead.
I don't know how I feel about naturalize and disenchant, I feel like IF i ran those narrow cards, they would be better in their enchantment form since I could at least recur them with sun titan.
This is actually a meta call... I only play against three decks... Combo centered around Equiste Blood and Sanguine Bond, Avaycn centered around alot of artifacts... And a graveyard deck that has been tuned against my stax so he runs alot of artifacts. I would rather run targeted instant enchantment or artifact hate vs a card like Creeping Curriosn that kills it all.
Minor nit-pick: Mwonvuli Acid-Moss js a sorcery and not a instant in your deck organization.
Lol... Thanks didn't notice I had put it there... I'll change the deck list. Keep the ideas coming because I am rather enjoying this deck. I finally won a multiplayer game this last weekend with it and all ready the comments of more artifact or enchantment hate being added was coming from the other players...
I don't know how I feel about naturalize and disenchant, I feel like IF i ran those narrow cards, they would be better in their enchantment form since I could at least recur them with sun titan.

Well, I know mass art/enchant removal is unnecesary since we have pretty solid reuseable answers to them, AND we are heavy on art/ench as well. I WAS refering more to using seal of cleansing or seal of primordium though, even white capsule can be nice.
Perhaps I just prefer permanent based removal since I could have it live after discard, recur it, or even feed it to a smokestack in an emergency. OR because i play vindicate, maelstrom pulse, mortify, putrefy, beast within, return to dust
plus dispeller's capsule/executioners capsule( with salvaging station) and feel that maybe even that is too much but I don't play enough edh to be proven elsewise.
Return to Dust (4 drop) is my 1 shot removal of choice since exiling is so much better, and sometimes exiling is the only way to get it off the board.
Trading Post (4 drop) also a very solid card that has 3 very relevant abilities in stax builds.
Leyline of the Void (4 drop), pretty sweet asymetrical graveyard hate, extra awesome when you get to play it turn 0
Nature's Claim is at least better than Naturalize. The 4 life isn't going to matter once you lock them out. The 1 mana can make a big difference at a critical juncture.
