Now here's a deck I've been playing for quite a bit. I'd like to show you how I approach a non-combo 5-color deck with my favorite general of the colors, Scion of the Ur-Dragon!
I hate combo. Except the fun ones. Even the one-shot combo decks I do have, I'm reconsidering. I'm just not a fan of that sort of thing, even though I have went T3 Village Bell-Ringer into T4 Splinter Twin before. It was funny, but kinda lame in retrospect...
If you're competing, different story, but I play EDH for fun and you should, too. Don't combo. Every time you combo, the powers above kill a kitten. Think of the kittens, bro. Seriously.
How does one play this deck?
The deck is heavy on attrition and grindy cards. The goal is to constantly sweep the board and deplete the opponent of resources until you want to flash in Scion with Alchemist's Refuge and turn him into Dragon Tyrant for the winning strike.
-Fixed the tag for Crime/Punishment.
-Added detailed explanations for each card in the deck.
-Removed the Nuances of the Deck section as it became redundant.

-Added a wishlist for the deck.

Way too many to name. I all but retired this deck when Primeval Titan was banned, but since the printing of Maze's End, I've wanted to get the win with it because I'm ambitious, so I've always loved Scion and decided to revive it with his best target as its only target.
I kept Seal of Cleansing in the main list because I thought I had Mistveil Plains in the deck for some reason??? idk.
Anyway, the big problem I was having in testing was how the deck played out vs. how I wanted it to play out. The best card in the deck is by far Maelstrom Nexus, and I didn't tailor the deck to its strengths enough. 95% of the test hands I played saw me cascading into goddamn Condemn at least once, which was incredibly frustrating.
Another issue I was having was the general heaviness of the deck. The curve is rather high given the fact that the deck plays a turn behind, and while that's fine in theory, I wanted to be sure I could survive if I was assaulted constantly. I've lowered the curve both for Maelstrom Nexus and to help with the aggro matchups. Dreadbore helps with Planeswalkers just as well, another problem permanent type for this deck.
Any ideas on how to get decent mana acceleration? I'm looking to build a Scion deck and, I'm hoping to run a deck with reanimating dragons and casting dragons very quickly. Would you have any clues on how to do it? Also, Balefire Dragon for your deck? board wipes opponent's field effectively

Aside from that, you can win with Maze's End, but you become a giant target for Sylvan Primordial triggers.
