This is yet another of my EDH ports. This time, the target is Modern Melira Pod. While I build all my decks to be as competitive as I can, I only build ones that have a riveting theme of some kind. Ones that have me making interesting choices and/or affecting the game in meaningful ways. They need to make me think and be a true joy to play. Any fool can build Hermit Druid combo decks, I build my decks to be something more.
This plays as close to the Modern version as possible. There are far too many interactions to talk about with any meaningful depth. Every card has synergy with every other card. The most unassuming board state imaginable can untap and win the game on the spot. A lot of these cards would normally never see play in EDH, this is the deck where they shine.
The deck is actually, largely, untested. I want to make sure it is as good as it can get. So far, it plays out very well. I'd appreciate any thoughts and/or criticism.
PS: It's worth noting, I've not updated the list since AVR/M13, but I can't think of anything that belongs here from either set. Let me know if there is anything (and no, Thragtusk is not in).
Not sure I understand Arbor elf. If you actually need a one-drop for the POD chains, wouldn't Sylvan Safekeeper or Mother of Runes be better to help protect your combo pieces? Seems like you have enough other ramp.
If you do want a mana-dork, you have no mana-doublers, so wouldn't BOP or Noble Hierarch be better? BOP gives you 5 color with more reliability, and Noble allows you to increase Horde to a 4 turn clock if you find yourself needing to go aggro (not that this build should all that often).

The Quote function doesn't work for me on this forum. Sorry for any confusion created.
BoP is already in. Noble Hierarch isn't as flexible in this deck as UW are not the colors this deck needs. Arbor Elf ends up being a lot more useful since the deck plays 8 Forest dual lands and green is its most important color.

Didn't see the birds, sorry.
Do you really need another mana dork then rather than some additional protection for what can be a very vulnerable combo?

That's the beauty though. It isn't a vulnerable combo, it's one of a ton of creature based combos in this deck. Mana dorks are vital to the consistency of the deck.
