I love cards that steal from my opponents decks. I love cards that copy my opponents creatures. Basically, my deck only exists as a hodgepodge of my opponent's decks.
Go for the Throat becomes Proteus Staff.
First, I've noticed sometimes there are creatures in play I have no desire to steal/copy so this would let me try and find a better opponents creature.
Second, it's repeatable.
Third, I dislike black removal. And as I build decks with a great amount of psychological investment I find it thematically far too violent and cruel. Being able to replace it with a different form is better for me to justify.
I will never have more creatures than an opponent often enough to make her work. Mostly the deck plays by copying/stealing my opponents win conditions. If anything the people who I'm playing against will be the ones swarming tokens that I can't deal with outside of a mass bounce spell.

I don't get the Gather specimens Tooth and nail thing wouldn't it just be a 6 mana counter spell that only counters half the spell they can choose not to drop them into play. that aside it is a desertion that says they cant cast anything else behind it late game.

Agreed. I don't like expensive spells that can be played around. I would just run Spelljack if I wanted an expensive steal on cast.

While its true that they can opt to not put them in play with t&n, that still puts them a turn behind. However, unlike desertion, it totally wrecks cards like entreat or rez spells. Once someone played the if x is 5 or more wrath on me and would had won on his next turn, but i casted specimens and killed him with his tokens. So yeah, I wouldn't underestimate this card.

The problem is that the card will be useless a large percent of the time. While it can be a blowout it is a far too expensive/reactive blowout to warrant running.
is it worth running Spreading Seas as an islandwalk enabler/nasty land hoser?
If Islandwalk (or the sea) was a more important aspect/theme then yes. But Wrexial is really the only dude that cares about at it and he is really just the general because he is the most "on theme" legend for the purpose of a "steal/copy your stuff" deck.
A single land hoser wouldn't really make any noticeable difference. I'd use strip mine/wasteland before I started adding spells to do the same thing. Something like Sunder however I could get more behind.
Just notifying that I have a Wrexial list as well, almost solely concentrated on using spells from other player graveyards and stealing stuff. It is somewhat similar to yours, but pushing the stealing aspect further and dropping the cloning aspect.
I wouldn't say its anywhere near competitive, but it has it's moments :).
Havengul Lich would be so cool, but sadly creatures do not survive very long in our games.
The timing restriction makes the card simply worse than other options. I also want to limit how many cards I play that don't work vs colors of mana I can't produce. Nightveil is already on the chopping block due to that.

Deadeye's only purpose would be to reset clones so I can't see running it.
Dralnu is definitely on theme and will be considered. But there are lots of damage based wraths in my playgroup so I'm concerned about that.
Sakashima's Student and Silent-Blade Oni finally get into the deck. Been waiting for these two a lot.
Just got a Treachery so that immediately gets a spot over Spelljack.
Devastation Tide replaces O-stone and Diabolic Tutor becomes Vampiric.
Overall a great day of changes for the deck.

Specimens has definitely saved my butt quite a few times.
Also, Helm of Possession. Steal a dude, then sac it to steal another. Profit!
Last one: Infinite Reflection is absolutely nuts. The things you can do with this card are simply staggering.

Infinite Reflection is like Followed Footsteps. Expensive blue aura that draws removal before it does anything.

Standard: lol no
Modern: BG/x, UR/x, Burn, Merfolk, Zoo, Storm
Legacy: Shardless BUG, Delver (BUG, RUG, Grixis), Landstill, Depths Combo, Merfolk
Vintage: Dark Times, BUG Fish, Merfolk
EDH: Teysa, Orzhov Scion / Krenko, Mob Boss / Stonebrow, Krosan Hero
Bojuka bog was actually removed from the list. I'll update as I apparently forgot.
With the clone change this deck actually makes sense with what its flavor is supposed to be.

One noteable omission I saw however was Blatant Thievery, a bonkers card that at worst is 7CMC: Steal 3 lands (which is ramp3 LandDestroy3 basically.
