When I put together Braids I wanted to do something that was different for blue (cheating out fatties) with a general that was a little different than the usual. This deck can be a little controlling if I get the right cards, but it mostly relies on beef and goodwill to make it through to the end game. A couple of cards are getting the axe soon, but mostly I am happy with it the way it is.
Gauntlet of power and Doubling Cube will greatly increase your mana production. If you do the math right you can Save yourself mana for responses to opponents actions later.
Well I don't like Gauntlet since it will do the same for everybody else with Islands, but Doubling Cube is a good idea. Especially since I just got a spare the other day!
Sunken Hope provides recursion for all those mighty ETB-triggers!
Playing only one color allows you to play Scrying Sheets + Snow lands if you are willing to invest a little cash. Also makes Extraplanar Lense most likely just double your own mana!
I have a couple of decks I have been thinking of filling out with snow-covered basics but I just can't justify spending the money on them. The other cards are not a bad idea but I'm pretty happy with what I have going on right now, though I think Sunken Hope is definitely going to make its way in.
