About the Deck:
I've always been a fan of Golgari decks, and finally got around to making one.
I think its worth mentioning that i just threw this together with the cards that i had which is by no means an extensive collection and parts of two other edh decks that sadly were dismantled (Momir Vig, Simic Visionary and Wrexial, the Risen Deep). As for the General, once i saw him in my collection i knew it was time to pursue the possibility of a Golgari EDH deck, and so far it seems to hold its own pretty well.
And of Course If You have suggestions i would like to hear them, as the main purpose of me posting this is to track the progress and improve. I need help deciding what cards to take out next, so please make suggestions and tell me why. I know you'll probably say take Riftsweeper out and i agree i just can't make myself do it.
This is mostly a reference to see how far this deck has come. As of writing this deck hasn't gone anywhere but as with most EDH decks it's a work in progress
Acidic Slime: Get's rid of anything pretty much and kills a creature when it blocks, also easy to recur in this deck. Just strait up card advantage.
Ant Queen: This card is iffy but its a good token generator, combos with seed born or if have some extra mana. Generates chump blockers at instant speed or give a sac target for Phyrexian Vault.
Aquastrand Spider: Graft mostly, Reach is sometimes relevant. also Contagion Engine
Artisan of Kozilek: Another beat stick, also one of the many ways to put Skullbriar into play directly from Graveyard
Avatar of Woe: Combos with Seedborn, Gets rid of threats, can also kill Skullbriar if someone tries to bounce or shuffle him.
Birds of Paradise: Just mana ramp, but you knew that and worst case flying chump blocker.
Brawn: Gives Skullbriar trample and of course everyone else, this is very necessary
Butcher of Malakir: Grave Pact number 2, or maybe it's number 1. Also doubles as flying beat stick whats not to love.
Cytospawn Shambler: Big graft creature, trample is very relevant. I generally give every creature one of its counters for more proliferate targets.
Filth: The more i think about it this card is only good if i have Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth out, or of course if they're playing black, i might switch it out. Just another way to get Skullbriar through.
Seedborn Muse: This is probably the first creatures i get out if i can. A lot of people ask me why i'm running it but it combos so well with all the activated abilities i use, and it's always good to have mana open for the few instants i do run.
Geth, Lord of the Vault: Combos with Seedborn it's good by itself. Can steal mana rocks, creatures and puts more targets into their graveyard.
Kozilek, Butcher of Truth: i don't think this one needs intro, but its a giant beat-stick and draws you 4 cards no matter what. He is also anti mill/deck recycling.
Reassembling Skeleton: Just a Good Chump blocker, also repeatable sac for Phyrexian Vault
I'm actually going to test this deck out right now at a local card-shop, i'll finish when i return
Seedborn Muse: ... A lot of people ask me why i'm running it...
This just makes me giggle. Seedborn Muse is a killer.
On a related note, let me evangelize about my favorite toy, Vedalken Orrery. By itself, it lets you sling your G/B permanents at the end of the preceding turn, which skirts around lurking sorcery-speed removal pretty handily. With Muse on the table, you're essentially getting a free Time Walk every turn. Free resources are good, but the ability to spend them advantageously every turn is better...
vvvv Well why don't we just add Burgeoning, then? I've seen it done, it was NOT pretty... vvvv
Oh, you think the losers' bracket is your ally, but you merely adopted the scrub tier. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn’t 4-0 an FNM until I was already a man; by then, it was nothing to me but an extra pack to sell for store credit!
Yeah i forgot about Rancor that's definitely going in. Vedalken Orrery seems good but i feel like i'd only get use out of it if Seedborn Muse is on the field but i could be wrong. Burgeoning also seems good but in my decks current state i rarely have extra lands in hand any way.
ive found Mind's eye to be too slow in my opinion.
I really need help trying to get rid of stuff.
Sorry to report that's a big nonbo - Recycle triggers if you PLAYED the card, where Burgeoning simply moves a card from one zone to another.

Too many of your creatures don't do anything related to the rest of your deck. Riftsweeper? Reassembling Skeleton? Mind you, I wouldn't go stripping small creatures out for big noncreatures unless I was trying to refocus the deck, I'd just be looking for more relevant utility on my cheap guys. Forgotten Ancient might be more relevant, for instance. Skubs is also probably the only general that cares about Jugan.
Some of your artifacts seem like they pay a lot of mana to do relatively little work. Dragon Blood. Phyrexian Vault. You can only do these once a turn, and it costs a boatload of mana every time - so when your mana machine is working, you're stuck with 1 activation a turn, but when it's not, you can't do them at all.

This is true however i almost always have seedborn out for that exact reason. Also Phyrexian Vault in particular is valuable as a sac engine, and to protect "skubs," for bounce and deck shuffle. Also with nim death mantle on the field its just sick, especially with seedborn and multiplied for each graft creature i have.
Dragon blood i agree though its too slow and forgotten ancient will probably take his spot.

Eternall Witness: The recursion possibilities are endless, instantly recycles something, great with Nezumi Graverobber, Living Death, Sheoldred, or Nim Deathmantle, to name a few.

Sweet Jesus why have I never heard of this card.
Holy crap.
Holy crap Recycle
Holy crap.
On Topic:
Skullbriar is best played Voltron. Tons of tutors, recursion, and scary stuff like Berserk and Rancor to make him hit for 21 commander damage fast.
Berserk in particular just trucks people out of nowhere.
My Decks:
:symr::symr::symr: Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker :symr::symr::symr:
:symb::symb::symb: Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker :symb::symb::symb:
