I had the idea a while ago to make a spider themed EDH deck. Naturally the first step is finding a general. A quick search of the Gatherer showed me that all the spiders were in Naya Colors, and I didn't want to make it mono-green. I chose Johan as the general since giving all my guys vigilance is pretty good when you are playing a janky deck and need to get some damage in without sacrificing defense!
I gathered all the spiders I could and realized quickly that I wasn't going to make this work or be that much fun with just spiders. Too much defense, and no effective ways to win. I decided on branching out into Wurms for their power and trample, and then insects for some evasion and poison/infect theme, something that's fits the spider theme.
So that's what I came up with. I tried to keep it in the theme as much as possible and only used cards I had so it's very much a work in progress. Infect and deathtouch are somewhat of a theme I want to incorporate more.
