I think Kazuul is REALLY made for EDH. He's just so cool, having an extremely cool Propaganda effect. It's just too bad there are only two "Cliff" lands, both not usable in a Kazuul EDH deck
I went the Tribal/Taunt way. Kazuul makes Ogres if your opponent attacks you, so make sure that happens
First off, love the theme. I've always loved Ogres, even if most of them leave a lot to be desired as magic cards.
I recommend adding Homura, Human Ascendant for your minions. Not an ogre, but turning every one of your ogres into a dragon makes your fairly inefficient creatures a lot more interesting.
Ken Nagle was the head of the Worldwake design team, and IIRC he's a big EDH fan. So most likely, Kazuul truly was made specificaly with the format in mind!
Are you imposing some sort of budget on this deck, because Forcefield would a good candidate for inclusion.

Thanks! He's the guy that makes an Ogre-themed deck at least a bit viable. It's really too bad most Ogres are so overcosted. And I added Homura, because you can never have too many flying and firebreathing Ogres

Yeah, I was referring to that But badly, I admit I'm not imposing a budget, but that card is a bit TOO costly $-wise. But thanks for posting, now you might have given that one player who owns a Forcefield a great idea to build an EDH Ogre deck
5 attacking creatures? that'll be 15 mana. they go to pay the 3, and bam, that's it!
In the same vein as Mana Web, War's Toll is a wonderful inclusion as well. Forcing your opponents to attack with everything into Kazuul seems good, along with the Mana Web effect.

Unfortunately a good player will simply respond to Mana Web's trigger by tapping another land for mana, and then responding to that trigger by tapping another land for mana, and so on, until he floats as much mana as he wants, and then allows Mana Web's ability to resolve. So it may not actually be that useful.

Except he'll have to use or lose his mana. If he taps a land during the combat phase, none of the mana will be left for his main phase 2. Likewise, tapping during main phase 1 leaves none for his combat phase.
I like the deck idea. Kazuul seems like a lot of fun. I see one problem with your deck. Way too many of your cards are only good if your general is in play. If your general gets hindered or spin into myth your gonna cry. I suggest cutting a few of the cards that are only good with Kazuul. Also mana flare works against your general.

I dropped the Mana Flare I agree the deck REALLY needs Kazuul to work, but any good suggestions?
Honestly? Winter Orb and Static Orb. Make it more likely that they don't have 3 too play. The cards are un-fun, but so are half the cards you're playing, so it's fine.
Winter Orb is like War's Toll for 2. Not only are they unlikely to have the mana to pay the 3, but NOTHING incites attacks like a Winter Orb. You even have Icy and Ring of Gix to "combo" with it.
I am quite new to Magic so this may not be the best strategy (literally only played for about 2 weeks) but I use skirk prospector to block early and get Kazuul out. I have gotten him out on the third turn this way which makes the game a short one
don't winter orb and static orb also work against you?
Yes, but I can attack AND cast spells. My opponent will have to pay 3 for every creature he wants to attack with, so he won't have mana left to cast spells
I too really like the Ogre theme, and seeing that this post is older I'd be curious to see what updates you've made and how the games have been playing. To the OP, when you get a chance can you update the decklist in the original post and let us know how things are?
Power Matrix would be a good addition to this deck to give your ogre's some evasion and a buff.
I'd really like to see you do a decklist for a controlling "you must attack, and pay for it dearly" build using Basandra as the general. I think it opens a lot of possibilities, and you could play kazuul too.
And i think Ronin Cliffrider might be also funny. Well, he`s no ogre, but hell...he is riding cliffs. Thats a 8 at the scale of awesomnes and I`m pretty sure, Kazuul is pleased
I no longer have this deck, although I'm building a you-must-attack-but-rather-not-me deck with incorporates a few ideas from this deck. It's a WBR deck with Tariel, Reckoner of Souls as Commander because he's cool and in color :). I combine most of the must-attack cards of red with Maddening Imp, Blood Reckoning, Lightmine Field and Ghostly Prison :).
I went the Tribal/Taunt way. Kazuul makes Ogres if your opponent attacks you, so make sure that happens

But Slivortal is right, you don't deny him the ability to pay, but it's an all or nothing deal You can choose: attack OR cast spells.

My deck is more of a big threat deck. Every card I drop is a threat to the whole table. Stuff like
Generally the biggest nastiest stuff I can find. But for your build I do have a couple of reccomendations.

Power Matrix would be a good addition to this deck to give your ogre's some evasion and a buff.
I'm surprised to see barely any draw / scry in this deck. Is there a good reason you're not running Sensei's Divining Top , Crystal Ball, Urza's Blueprints, or Darksteel Pendant ?
Citanul Flute is a nice tutor that you could also use to untuck your General.
No Blood Moon or Magus of the Moon ?
