Wanted to try a different approach to Mono Blue instead of just counter everything and bounce the board. Feedback would be appreciated. I realize the general isn't the best and originally had Teferi as the gen. but I don't want a general that draws hate. Linessa's ability will mainly be to protect my creatures and Training Grounds makes her not terrible.
Well after some testing I've made some changes in particular adding more creatures that can interact with spells. Voidmage Prodigy, Voidmage Apprentice, Mischievous Quanar, Willbender have been added. I've also added mana artifacts and Caged Sun because I didn't really have a way to accelerate before. The general has also been changed to Rayne, Academy Chancellor and I'm never looking back Linnessa was way to expensive to be relevant ever.
I noticed an abundance of wizards in the deck so Azami, Lady of Scrolls is being tested in the deck however not as a general.
Cuts: Cosi's Trickster - got big quick but never big enough and vanilla creatures are underwhelming in EDH no matter how big they are.
Drift of Phantasms - Not too bad early but a bad topdeck late game and very clunky.
Guard Gomazoa - Fog Bank is enough and does the job better. If I miss it I'll put it back in.
Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur - Sat in my hand. I feel like Jin has a home in reanimator decks and decks that can cheat him in but not here.
Lighthouse Chronologist - Putting all the mana into him just to have him killed before I can even get his effect once is not how I want to spend my turns. I'd rather develop my board.
Sea Gate Oracle - He's good at what he does but in EDH things that give you permanent card advantage or topdeck manipulation are better. I was planning on taking out Thada Adel, Acquisitor but she develops my board, disrupts opponents plans and is CA (in a way)
Tidespout Tyrant - Really expensive and I can't really break him in half like other decks can.
Vendillion Clique - Bad in Multiplayer. I'd rather steal or copy my opponents threats than get rid of them (temporarily).
With the changes I've made, the deck is now very resilient. Generates a great board position without drawing too much hate until i start to go crazy with a lot of mana. The problem is I'm not a very good pilot/player so true potential has to come.
Although I like your desire to play blue a little different, I can't agree that zero instants is the way to go. You make your deck very vulnerable in an area that it should be strongest. There are loads of instants in blue that do more than counter spells. Instant speed card draw, tap effects, and bounce (I might concede playing blue without counter, but not bounce).
