So I've been playing two different EDH decks at present, one being my Rith deck, which has turned into a sort of Naya Control, and the other Baron Sengir, which turned into a mono-black control build...which is an ugly...ugly archetype that should never be allowed to rear it's ugly head in a casual setting that EDH strives to be! Lol. So I decided I wanted to run a much more casual-friendly deck, just straight up mono-green stompy. I would have tried Autumn Willow for this, but I don't want to steal this soon after Magnus' build <_<. So I figure Silvos will work good too, lol. Anyway, here is the deck. I'm open to suggestions and the like, just please keep in mind I don't want to see this become some "mindless tournament massacre" style deck, I want to keep it fun!
I've got a sub-theme going with Beasts, so I would like to stay with that. What creature type is more casual-friendly than big Beasts anyway? Also, Mirari is a TON of fun in this deck...especially when you clone a Beast Attack twice(which I did in this deck's first game) or the ultimate target...a Crush of Wurms o_o. I just like that I've made this deck all with cards I have lying around, nothing proxied, nothing borrowed, and nothing I've had to go out and look for to buy/trade for haha.
Very cool! Silvos is a house to play with The only concern I have is: how do you keep him on the board? Ok, he regenerates, but almost all removal will kill him and I see only two cards that give him (temporary) shroud.

But cool build! Nice to see
True, he may eat non-regen enabling removal, but as he's doing that...what exactly are you doing about everything else?
I held off my bro's Jenara EDH with a Spidersilk Armor in play with...Acidic Slime, Virdian Shaman, and a Crib Swap token in play. It was awesome.
Also, the deck is built on Green's best strengths: artifact/enchant removal, and efficient big creatures. My reasoning for this is a lot of EDH decks are built to rely on their artifact accel, or potent artifacts like Lox, or Vedelken Orrery. This deck however has so many outs to those it's not even funny.
True. I was thinking of most black removal and all exile-effects. But hey, you can alwasy recast him, and many sweeping effects that just destroy of deal damage he can survive....I like the toolbox as well. It's good to always have an answer
Oxidize is better then crumble, same cost less life. Trade the sundering vitae for a Krosan grip same cost, same effect but you get split second. Trade the terrain generator for a yavimaya Hollow. I would trade the overgrowth for the drumhunter. Possibly trade the mind stone for the herald. There is a card form tempest, cant think of the name, but it's a 4/1 for 3G that gives you 4? 1/1 tokens when it dies. Mongrel Pack, it could have some interesting interactions with sac effects during combat, a la greater good. Hmm fists of ironwood doesn't seem that good, brawn would be better or maybe a primalcrux, is some serious green beats.
Awesome, thanks for the tips dude. I wish I had an Oxidize, with all the Mirrodin/Darksteel I bought back in the day, I would have thought I'd have more than a couple of them. *shugs* I could always have my shop look for one next time I'm there. Krosan Grip is something I really want. I know someone who has one, hopefully he'll trade it.
The Fists of Ironwood is there as it's one of the few auras that doesn't create an immediate card disadvantage with it(because it makes two dudes). Brawn would be better, though. Maybe my friend Josh might have one. Primalcrux is something I severely want, he will be making his way in here, as soon as I can get one. That, and Mossbridge Troll(because he's casually awesome, lol). Mongrel Pack & Greater Good looks pretty good too.
idk about the last one, Krosan Vorine has always been real good to me. He's like green spot removal lol. But Silklash Spider makes people not want to play fliers, which is another of green's weakness. I'll give the Troll a chance over the aura. I'm sure I'm going to want to much more want to draw the Troll, than the aura anyway.
I found one in a stack of foreign cards I had, so I replaced the Coat as the dominant creature type I have is beasts; but aren't they already big enough?
skullclamp seems out of place in your build, as the beef to x/1 ratio isn't there, for the auto drawing. Didn't notice before but you need an eternal witness it's one of the most amazing cards ever made. Coat of arms is somewhat hit or miss, in 1v1 it can't hurt, but in group it could backfire on you and let you get killed easily, you could always sit on it and wait for the right moment. The elf abberation seems out of place, if you are using it for the forest cycling, try the new green one, uhh... sylvan bounty, the lifegain is marginal but it helps in a pinch, and can be a surprise at times.

Thanks, I kept forgetting to put Eternal Witness on my "Still Seeking" section. She is quite amazing. Skullclamp sure, I don't have many dudes for auto drawing, but it's there more as an "insurance" to make people think twice about killing my dudes, as they wouldn't want me drawing two cards off of their removal. Maybe this isn't an optimal idea? Elvish Aberration is more for the accel factor, :GGG that also swings for 4 in a pinch which is pretty cool(it's a really durable body for a mana dork). Though again, like my clamp theory, maybe it isn't optimal? Maybe it's more...I don't want to say "win-more" but just kind of overkill(It does cost 5G and all)?
I think that you have enough search effects to productively run a Panglacial Wurm, it's such a surprise when you fetch him at someones EOT. If you have enough ETB/LTB effect creatures you might want to possibly look into a stampeding wildebeests. I think that every green deck should run a chord of calling, it's just unreal, and it lets you fetch your general should he get hidden in your deck.
Hmm...never thought of the Wurm, I'll have to look for him. The Wildebeests is a good pick also, I'm getting awesome thoughts of reusing my acidic slimes and other artifact hate dudes over and over lol. Chord of Calling is nice, never heard of it before, so I need to find one.
it doesn't work, as it turns everything colorless. I think that it's a little narrow for green as you have no way of searching for it reliably, it doesn't speed you up, or put fat on the board. You can replace the Krosan Drover, you only have 2 beasts that cost 6+. Try and get ahold of a worldly tutor, also possibly look into getting a vernal bloom, it's insane of no one else is heavy green.

Krosan Drover works on all my creatures that cost 6 or more. Not just beasts. And yeah, I know about the tutor, it's just a might bit hard to get ahold of. Vernal Bloom is nice, very nice, but I usually wind up playing versus my bro, who plays Jenara, Asura of War, and he has a fair amount of green in the deck(which is why I'm opting to main deck Choke, Eyes of the Wisent, and Tsunami).
What do you think about this deck running Oran-Rief Recluse? More flying hate, and it synergizes with the Wildebeests for recursion.
meh..thought that it said beasts on the drover. Yeah thats a pretty good anti-flying creature. There is a second creature that makes you bounce one of your own, can't think of it atm stampeding serow maybe. Add a wallop if your looking for more specific hate.
The latter two, I think are better card advantage, the first is because I don't want too many slots for dedicated colour hate, and I think Eyes will give me a better board position than Choke.
Also, I played a game versus my friend Kyle, he uses Iona, Shield of Emeria, and interestingly...I actually won, after he played Iona. I was able to stick Silvos, Lox, Timbermaw Larva w/ Rancor after I popped an O-Stone(which basically forced him to play Iona). He drew into Shield of Kaldra which meant I'd have to do it with what I had on the board. Luckily my Arena is able to keep his Iona locked out of attacking(or blocking for that matter) and I, eventually, am able to win after getting past his dudes he keeps top decking! This is all after I turned this crap around from 1 life. All in all, it was an epic, hour long game. Early game MVP I think was Hunted Troll, pulling his weight, and getting me through some tough opposition. For the guy's first test run being used, he represented, I think.
Moral of the story: Always, and I do mean ALWAYS make sure you're packing your artifact sweep effects like Disk/Stone.
