Our playgroup is really picking up EDH quickly, so I thought I'd try to make a less casual EDH deck, one that can play well in multiplayer. (My Stangg deck is pretty much for the flavor and lulz of it :)) So I thought I'd try out a mono-black control style deck with Lim-Dul the Necromancer.
I tried to concentrate on having some zombies in the deck, just for flavor. Then it turns out that a bunch of the playable creatures in EDH are zombies anyways. I wanted to get Damnation and Volrath's Stronghold for the deck, but they are just too expensive for me right now.
So what do you think? Any card suggestions, ways I could make this cooler but still competitive for multiplayer EDH?
I like Deathmark Prelate and possibly Zombie Warchief. For a little while I considered Zombie Trailblazer and possibly Zombie Master but I wasn't too sure on the swampwalk ability. It seems kind of clunky to me, but I will definitely consider it since I do have a bunch of fatties in here. Plus I feel like I need to try to fit Nameless Inversion in here so I can do reanimation tricks with Unholy Grotto and Lord of the Undead. Any suggestions on what I should take out for Inversion, and possibly Deathmark Prelate and Undead Warchief?
Just adding my 2 cents, but have you tryed Chainer, Dementia Master as a more well rounded General? I can see an issue getting the full effect from Lim-Dul due to his being overcosted. you can still work with the Zombie theme, or move maybe to a minion theme
@thecounterguy: I haven't tried him yet; I hear he's pretty good though. If I find that Lim-Dul is just too slow and cumbersome, I might just switch over to him.
@purplepixie: Yeah I think you're right with the Quest, it'd be a terrible late game top deck. I think I'll try out Deathmark Prelate instead of the quest. I'll definitely put in Cruel Revival and drop Hideous End for it. I still like Slaughter Pact because sometimes you just need a free kill spell. I think I'll also drop Bone Shredder for Nameless Inversion, since it can be brought back with Lord of the Undead and Unholy Grotto, and it can hit black and artifact creatures. Plus I already have Nekrataal and Shriekmaw for extra removal.
As far as reanimation, I like Animate Dead and Necromancy since they can hit any graveyard and they are cheaper. Plus, I'd almost rather have them hit those with enchantment removal than something like Grave Pact or Call to the Grave. Plus I feel like I have enough recursion with Coffin Queen, Woebearer, Gravedigger, Oversold Cemetery, Unholy Grotto, Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni, Balthor the Defiled, Lord of the Undead and now Cruel Revival.
So, the changes:
-1 Bone Shredder
-1 Quest for the Gravelord
-1 Hideous End
Necropotence... Is it really that good in EDH? I mean I know the card is amazing, but usually it's at its best when you can surround the deck with cards like Consume Spirit and Tendrils of Corruption to gain the life back. I have only 4 cards that can gain me life.
Unless someone can convince me otherwise, I'd probably rather have Phyrexian Arena in here.

Necropotence provides as many cards as you need every turn, just use it to fill your hand up to 7-9 cards during your end step. Lifegain isn't necessary, it just make Necropotence even more broken (and Necro will often draw into lifegain cards or tutors). Just don't get Mindslavered with it in play, that isn't fun.
