I'm going to post the list that I've been playing with on Workstation for almost a week. It started off with a casual idea, Brion throwing Thunderblusts to the face, and it turned into something that is working well.
Very, very well.
It wins a lot. Against pretty much anything. I'm a mediocre player at best, but I've had some absurd victories and haven't lost much. And when I do lose, it's usually in three and it ends very close.
But I digress. I could just be playing chumps, or my play is improving. But I wanted to see what all ya'll around these parts had to say about it.
Board control until you land adequate beef to pound face. Gain life and keep things under wraps until you can land a gigantic Banefire or can execute a 14-damage life whack with the 'Blust and Brion combo. It's fun as hell to play.
I know that its not exactly the same as persist, but Hell's Thunder and/or Hellspark Elemental could work well in here. Otherwise, I like the concept.
I actually thought about the merits of Unearth vs. Persist, and I think persist works better give the type of board control that I run. I like having the option of having the creatures as blockers instead of having to sac them at the end of the turn.
And how sexy is it to swing with a persist'ed thunderblust after a wrath, eh? I like this deck. The inevitable question here though: how does the 5c control match go for you? Do you just have enough backbreaking spells and uncounterable bombs to run through them? Seems like you'd really take cruel ultimatum badly, and all your removal is pretty useless against their minimal creature base.

Thunderblust looks like a head-scratcher until you run with it. It's delicious. So much synergy between the board-clearers and Brion.
Faeries is actually not a bad matchup. From the limited matches I've played it's obvious that Fallout was probably printed for the sole purpose of hosing Faerie decks. It kills them. The Mutas are big vs. Fae too. There's enough board control to just beat them down with Mutas. They'll sit on their counters waiting for your Wraths or Finks, which you don't play. Then you drop Banefire.
It's glorious.
And I haven't faced a Cruel build yet. So I'll have to wait to fill you in on that. I imagine Wild Ricochet will end up in the board for this spell.
brion stoutarm doesn't dish out enough damage in your deck for his cost. he also doesn't have persist and this isn't enough creatures to use him anyways. but you had the right idea, switch him out for hellspark elemental. thunderblust is a bit slow and overkill, i think something that costs 1 red mana should be there. spark elemental might work with this much board re-positioning and it might be the card thats worth the risk of PtEing your own creature to get that mana fixing asap.
i would highly suggest switching brion and thunderblust with cheaper creatures for your curve, even if you don't agree with my critique.
New list I've been running. Added more board control and changed from a Persist to Unearth creature base. The results have been similar, but for some reason this build seems a bit more handcuffed than the previous build in some games, and more wide open in others. It's difficult to read thus far.

I actually think Unearth isn't as fantastic as the first build. Enemy PtEs hose it just as well and you lose instant-lifelink shenanigans and a large source of direct damage. It's all theory from my side though.
I would assume its because thousand island dressing is sort of pinkish in color and r+w=pink? maybe? I was wondering the same thing.
Well I saw this deck yesterday 10 minutes before leaving for fnm and since its got 2 of my favorite cards(Wrath of God,Banefire) I printed it up and decided to run with it. Sideboard is as follows
Played in 5 rnds of swiss with just about the same mainboard as original list. I liked it right away and Thunderblust caught soooooooooooooo many people slipping it was absolutely incredible. I thought I would have seen more Path to Exile`s but it seems that only the guys with actual brains had them available. It was either that or people just didnt buy enough or trade enough to care about the new STP. It was an absolute bomb for me.
I ended up going 3-2 losing to a jund tokens deck, and an elf deck. Both games I couldn`t find mass removal to save me, but the wins I had were absolute blow-outs. TB + Brion+Banefire= sucks to be you,gg.
I might bring this back to fnm, but as suggested from others above I might have to try out Hell`s Thunder and possibly something else. Don`t know what yet as its pretty early in the morning and I`m usually at work, so all this free time is just making me drunk with laziness.
Rnd 1 vs. Bant Exalted. 2-0. Not even close as all his little guys just got eaten by getyousome, and PtE ate his larger critters. Thunderblust+Banefire ftw. Both games.
Rnd 2 vs. G/B elves 1-2. Sorry ass performance first game as no sort of mass removal showed up, and man lands ate my face off. After board with runed halo`s and condemns coming in and I cnat remember going out, it was an easier game 2, but game 3 was more not seeing mass removal and again man lands and CC just ate me alive. Profane Command Ftw. Ouch.
Rnd3 vs. Bant aggro again. Blow out 2-0. Cant remember much about this round other than I wrathed alot and banefired till he conceded game 1. Game 2 Gutturals came in for his Mirrorweaves(yes Mirrorweave) and game 2 was just about the worst beatdown I`ve ever given someone. Ajani shined and multiple Thunderblust`s + Brion just wrecked him. Banefire for 11 ftw. I know it was overkill but I like doing that to someone who talks alot of smack. And he was talkin smack.
Rnd 4 vs. Jund Tokens. 0-2. This loss cost me a t8 burth, and the guy deserved it. Absolutely demolished me with card advantage. Tokutounge Thallid(sp?) and Broods+ Mycoloth spelled easy win for him. He just got better draws than me and his Necrogenisis was good against me also. I guess I just didnt draw mass removal enough, cause he sure had alot of critters on his side of the board.
Rnd 5 vs. Mono G beatdown.2-0. Sort of a shroud build withDrove of Elves and Troll Ascetic`s and Slippery Boggle`s+ Loxodon Warhammer`s. Pretty easy game 1 until he cast Painters Servant. His drove got me close 1st game but after wrathing the board and hitting a few times with Brion I stabilized and ended the game with Double Thunderblust Ftw. Game 2 was a blowout with Brion,Thunderblust,Thunderblust,Banefire...in that order. GG.
All in all I had a good time with the deck. I was looking for something different to play and this was definitely different. Don`t know if i`m going to take it back next week but I wouldn`t say no to playing it again.
I would assume its because thousand island dressing is sort of pinkish in color and r+w=pink? maybe? I was wondering the same thing.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner. It's named after the salad dressing. A bad name? Maybe.

Good job janksauce. Nice deck.
If you decide to bring it back next week, (I'm still completely shocked that someone actually built a list I put together) I'd recommend the following tweaks to your board:
Pyroclasm dominates tokens. Against that deck, plus the 3 Pyroclasm, you shouldn't lose.
But you did bring up the main problem I've run into during testing. Elves. This deck cant do anything against Treetops, unless you've got something to block it with. Elves beats it pretty hard. Probably the deck's worst matchup.
I've also lost quite a bit to Vegeant Lark. I run three Prison Term board to try to keep Lark under control, but even after board, it's a 50/50 match up at best.
But I'm glad you ran the list, and I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. I have fun with it and I'm glad someone else did.
I like the regular Ajani instead of Vigeant. It allows you to use the +1 ability, swing vigilently, and then toss the finks. When they persist and you use the +1 ability again next turn; they come back again and again.

Just curious, why is it called Thousand Island?
I Agree with this guy. You should have thrown other beasts in their face.
At first thought, I was thinking of this thread of a blue color, but none matched my expectations. a truly wonder why it was called a Thousand Island.
