There is an upcoming GP in my area. And was woundering how you guys would set up decks for Three people with only four of each card? I am thinking somebody play U/x Control, Someone playing an aggro deck W/x aggro, and somebody plays a combo deck like Heartbeat or Ideal. Lmk how you set each player and what decks you would use for the GP. And I hope to see some of you in madison.
It's a tough call, simply because decks will be fighting for Sakura Tribe elder.
Ideally I would like to run Glare and Critical Mass Update, but Mass needs the elders. I would decide between these two decks to set the limitations of your other two..
Depending on your choice here, you can play: URW or URB Emminent Domain
For your third pick, you can have access to: Netsuki Abuse (which could be very strong), Enduring Ideals, Heartbeat Combo, Bob the Builder,
If I had to decide.. I would probably opt to play:
Critical Mass Update, UBR Emminent Domain and Enduring Ideals.
I would also be very tempted to run: Bob the Builder, Greater Good, U/R magnivore. Those are three very well rounded decks.
Yeah, I've already got a team going to this. We are currently going into misty mountains and other such stores in the area to scope out the metagame. It's pretty crazy stuff. I see SOOOOOOO MUCH GHAZI GLARE. so just about every team of three will be playing it. We are probobly gunna run U/R mag, G/B/U aggro, and Emminent Domain. The aggro build it really rouge (ok kinda rouge)
Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, the wisdom to know the difference, and a ****ing chainsaw.
There are so many options its unreal. Only 4 of each dual, jitte, gifts its pretty crazy have no clue as to how I am going to get people from Stevens Point to come down either.
run 3 different combo decks, that leads to very propably win early. heartbeat doesnt fit there, because maga doesnt kill all opponents, izzet guildmage fits though and i think freed from the real does too if you use right cards to kill (dimir guildmage to deck all opponents ^^). your opponent can only have 4 needles and 4 extractions against you, and you are very consistant winning early it is enough that one of you pulls it off

No, the players on the team all play one on one games, its not one 6 player game.

When you sign up for a team event, you write your name down in either Slot A, Slot B, or Slot C. You thne face the Slot you're in vs the other team. General strategy puts the weak link in the A seat, and the top player in the C seat.
we have around 3 teams going from Winona and from what I can tell easiest way to make three teams without fighting over cards is to run Glare, B/G aggro/Control, and U/R Dommain. The thing we have to remember is that every team is going to have to only play key cards in one deck, meaning each deck only has a 1 in 3 chance of playing against someone using Jitte, and sence you only need 2 out of 3 people to win you could make all 3 decks not be able to deal with deckX but be strong agaisnt everything else. Also we know that we don't have to worry to much about 3+ color decks like Zoo because they take up so many good cards.
I am going to GP madison in March. The format is team T2, for those of you who dont know how it works you have 3 members on your team. You all have a T2 legal deck, and if your team were to stack all three decks and SB together it has to still be a legal deck (only 4X jittes between the 3 decks etc...). Also your teams play regular one on one matches with the opposing team and your team wins if 2 out of the 3 team members win their matches. That being said if you had a team to go what do you think would be the best 3 decks to build, and how would you split up key cards (such as Glare wants to run Jitte, but it would be better to put in the Boros deck so Glare gets Card X instead). I am going with 2 other teams from my area so any help will be appreciated by us all.
Well what do you guys think the decks to beat will be? What is your strategies?
PS Anybody looking for a third member to play in the GP? JK Got snubbed out it seems. Will most likely be playing in the Urza's Sealed on Saturday and in the XBOX 360 Tourney on Sunday.
From a logistical standpoint, the best combination of decks to play is Combo/Control/Control. This way, you have the best chance to win 2 of 3. In the current Standard, this would probably mean Heartbeat Maga (an autowin across half of the Tier 1/Tier 1.5 decks right now), Blue-based control (which has game against nearly everything save Ghazi-Glare), and Black-based control/aggro-control (which has few poor matchups). Unfortunatley, Heartbeat Maga uses both Kodama's Reach and Sakura-Tribe Elder. That forces the other two decks either to stay away from Green, which is arguably the best color in Standard right now, or switch to a more aggro build that doesn't need accelerators like Sakura-Tribe Elder.
That said, if I were to go to a team Standard event with Guildpact legal tommorrow, here would be my decks: Heartbeat Maga, Eminent Domain, and either Control Rock with White or Ghazi-Glare. But, if I were you, I'd just tweak and netdeck whichever deck top eights at Honolulu like most people.

RU Magnivore
RUG Sea Stompy
BWGUGreater Gifts
Also, I think my team has decided. But it's just so hard to play with that few duals. So...
U/B/G Aggro/control, U/R Magnivore, Enduring Ideal should work out great.
