I have been working on a 4-C Rites deck (blue instad of red), and I have had good results with it. I am working on testing it against a number of the meta decks. My past experience was with the red version, and the biggest hurdle that I think this version faces is replacing Faithless Looting. I am trying to decide between Thought Scour and Forbidden Alchemy right now. Here is the list I have so far.
While the meta right now is filled with aggro, midrange, and control decks, I think this deck has the potential to be quite strong based on its versatility and ability to change to meet any type of deck. The Sideboard can contain any of these:
Control:
- The deck can be sped up by putting in more dorks. I prefer Avacyn's Pilgrim as well as the Deathrite Shamans already in the MB.
- Also, put in one more Alchemist's Refuge to allow for more EOT plays to dodge the sorcery speed removal.
- Other options: Counter magic, either Dispel, Negate, or Dissipate.
Midrange:
- Side in another Evil Twin and the Instant speed removal shown above.
I still haven't decided how I feel about Deadeye Navigator. He is the first card I would side out in nearly every matchup. He would most likely be better replaced with Sigarda, Host of Herons for the control matchup, or Centaur Healer for the aggro matchup. Thoughts?
Yea, after some more testing, I agree. I wanted to try them, but they always ended up being dead cards. The biggest problem is that U doesnt bring as much to the table as R. As far as digging, targets, and the weakness deck, removal. Red has Faithless Looting, Olivia, Aurelia, Gisela, and Mortars. Where as blue has none of these things. Sadly, I think the general consensus is correct. Maybe, if someone were to try to take the reanimator shell and go for more blue/black control? I don't know, I am just trying to brainstorm now.
