So I've been playing Magic for less than a week, needless to say I have a ton to learn. I've been playing with my brother and some of his friends using my brother's various decks and whatnot. I came to favor a certain deck of his and wish to build my own around Inferno Titan. I've been reading as much as I can and learning from a number of different websites, and would like to start putting together my own deck. I will list what I have in mind below, and feel free to make any suggestions or comments.
The initial deck I am going to list was taken from a user on MTGVault, but I would like to make a couple changes to it. I will list my questions and concerns after the deck
Now I am thinking I want to replace the Pyromancer Ascension's with something else, but what? Also, I am going to replace the Prodigal Pyromancer's with Cunning Sparkmage's as it does the same damage, cost the same, but also has haste. And lastly, I was also considering replacing Staggershock with something else, but of course I am not too sure what to replace it with yet.
Any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry to say, but alot of this deck isn't standard legal, brother. Are you looking to build/play standard?

Oops, maybe I should have posted in the casual section! Maybe a mod can move it for me? I don't think I'm ready to play anything serious as of yet. But for the future I would probably be interested in playing standard. What changes to the deck would make it legal?
for standard almost everything but the mountains lol
LOL, well I guess if decide to put it together it'll be just a casual deck to play with my brother and his friends. What is the reasoning behind the cards not being legal? The sets they come from or what?
Cards are legal for standard if they are from the most recent blocks, which usually mean they were printed within the last 1-2 years. In MTG, this is what "standard" means. I wouldn't worry about what is legal or not unless you intend to get into tournament play.

Okay, thank you. I guess I won't worry about legality as of now as I've literally been playing for a few days.
I don't know what your card availability looks like, so I will try to stick to easy to get cards.
1) You probably want to go up to 24 mountains, and/or acquire 4 fun non-basics. 20 is simply not enough.
2) Leyline of Punishment is actively bad. If you need this effect Sulfuric Vortex is your man, or you can just drop it.
3) Probably up your count of burst lightning, forked bolts, and staggershocks. Being able to kill multiple of your opponent's creatures with single cards is great. Having options is great.
Hope this helps.
