Rotation season is usually my favorite time in Standard, as a lot of decks that previously came up short get a second glance as new cards roll out. This time I'm hoping to be able to make some funny decks that run around Innistrad engines.
Nihil Spellbomb was a card that always kept me from trying to play Burning Vengeance. The deck came up just short of being amazing, however I believe that with the amount of really strong spells we've been seeing in Return to Ravnica, the deck might be worth a second glance. Sure, many of them do not have flashback, but a lot of them are exactly what the deck needed. Many of the "cannot be countered" counterspells pretty much assure that you can survive any graveyard hate that comes your way, and that was such a huge problem for the deck. Grafdigger's Cage is still rough, but Smelt/Ancient Grudge will still deal with it handily.
I'm also interested in trying Heartless Summoning again. We have a lot of creatures now that "do stuff" but cost a lot of mana simply based on their P/T. Xathrid Gorgon is a prime example of this. I liked some of the engines Heartless Summoning already had, but it'll be refreshing to try out some new stuff too.
What kind of deck are you hoping makes a splash now that there's room for nontitan cards?
I want midrange to be playable. For the last two years Primeval Titan has been keeping it from being a real archetype. Hopefully now we can see some form of Junk, Jund or Bant midrange.

There's still tormod's crypt and your uncounterable counter can't counter abrupt decay. I don't know if tormod's crypt will see play, since you don't get the can-trip, but if there's enough graveyard shenanigans it could be in any sideboard. Abrupt decay will definitely see play.

Tormod's Crypt also isn't as good. Nihil cantrip made it relevant enough for some black decks to consider mainboarding.
And yeah, Abrupt Decay is already a $15 preorder, I'm sure it will. For some reason the UW board wipe is only like $5. Huh.
I'm going to resume going to FNM simply because there will be no more Titans and Wurmcoil Engine Also, I'm going to try out a BW human token sacrifice deck I'm creating since there won't be Ratchet Bomb or Whipflare around.
