I'm trying to put together a Zombie-Mill variant - I can see common cards to use in a deck like this are Diregraf Ghoul, Grimgrin, Corpse Born, Dream Twist, and Black cards that generate zombie tokens. There are plenty of zombie-token generator cards out there, but I find it hard to understand why you'd want to waste your time just pumping out tokens when you should be milling? Surely that's the point of the deck - not aggro, but forcing your opponent/yourself to mill cards for some benefit? I can see that the tokens help act as blockers against threats to your main players, but I'd prefer making my opponent mill ridiculous amounts of cards every turn instead of stalling them with 2/2's.
I've never put together a mill deck before (I started playing Magic just in time to see Tezz go up to about 25 bucks a piece, which crushed my dreams of ever playing Blue/Black Mill), and I'm still pretty new to the game, so please educate me.
Also - I just got a Havengul Lich and I'm hoping I can somehow work it into the deck I'm wanting to build. Or is it impossible, given that I would already have Grimgrin in the deck? Is there a way I can work them both in? Havengul would allow me to bring cheap zombies back to feed to Grimgrin. Maybe I should have an element of self-mill in my deck? I don't really know where I want to go with my deck, aside from as far from aggro as possible.
I'm hoping to get some Gravecrawlers to stick in here, as they'd be an excellent card to start off with. I don't really want to have to bring in Skaabs that require me to exile creatures from my graveyard - I'd rather be able to bring them back than put them beyond my reach and lose the Skaabs to a Doom Blade or what have you. I could also go with Trepanation Blade to equip to Grimgrin later on, which I could stick to some cheap black creature, like Tormented Soul. I'd like to keep the deck as much zombie based as possible, including humans and spirits only when necessary.
Any suggestions would be well recieved. This is my first time building a deck online, so I'm hoping to get some good information.
The attack based mill using undead alchemist probably not the worst idea.
That being said you could probably make a showing with a BUG dredge list.
My friends and I talked about an idea of running phyrexian obliterator with prey upon & beast within.Prey upon obliterator and destroy permanents. Your opponent doesnt have a creature? Beast within a land and then cast prey upon.
A second win condition of this deck was the spider spawning draft list running around but capitalizing on Kessig Cagebreakers + Postmortem Lunge. If you've milled yourself (creatures) you lunge him back in or snapcaster your lunge targeting cagebreakers and attack. The cagebreaker will be exiled, but the wolves he creates will hang out.
I'm trying a B/U Zombie Mill centered around Undead Alchemist. Earlier version had more creatures, and I got crushed because the deck didn't have a good enough focus. I added more control elements -- counterspells and removal -- and I decked both of my opponents. Key cards are Undead Alchemist, Increasing Confusion, and Nephalia Drownyard.
If you can get the Alchemist on the field, and then protect him, the zombie horde he creates can be overwhelming. Both Increasing Confusion and the Drownyards add to the zombie horde without risking the Alchemist in an attack. The other creatures are there to add as alternate win conditions.
Be patient. Draw-go until you can get something onto the field and then protect it. Even the Mindshrieker can beat someone to death with enough support. The Drownyards are incredibly effective on their own as well.

I thought about artful dodge, but I just wasn't sure what to take out. Plus, since it needs a creature, it's potentially a dead card in my hand until I hit a creature to use it on. The Alchemist plus Confusion creates zombies without having to enter combat, and the Mindcrusher + Alchemist is almost a mini Grave Titan. Once ten or more zombies are on the field, it gets truly insane how fast the milling goes since each point of zombie damage is another card milled.
I'm also unsure about Shriekhorn since I don't want to start milling until the Alchemist can hit the field. The exception to that is I will use Confusion to mill one card, so that it gets to my graveyard faster.
I'm still fine tuning this deck and concept. I'll be taking it to FNM this week, so I'll hopefully have some good things to report.

Check out Shriekhorn . . .
Also Undead Alchemist loves artful dodge
