This is the Fall set. The 10 lands are a cycle. They are not going to be the check lands, and they are not going to be buddy lands, or fast lands they are going to be exciting.
They created Modern to do this. The Onslaught fetches are not on the Reserved list, they have the ability to have them playable in Modern, so they're going to do it almost as soon as possible. They made a decision that they want both buddy, and enemy duals in Nu-Eternal.
They wanted the shock lands in Ravnica, and not release them at the same time.
They are not going to disapoint you, and release something underwhelming after the shocks, no, they're going to go bigger.
Everyone knows that good luck and good game are such insincere terms that any man who does not connect his right hook with the offender's jaw on the very utterance of such a phrase is no man I would consider as such.
On a gameplay level: It would make manabases way too fast and consistent. The drawback of thinning and fixing mana is a bolt to your own face, but players will be able to utilize Deathrite Shaman as a dork, and play as many colors as they want. 5 Color Goodstuff will become a deck.
On a selling level: Theros would sell like hotcakes for 99cents on Sundays because Onslaught and Zendikar fetches will span almost every format in MtG until they rotate out.
Big money for WotC, health of the game, err, Standard/Modern, is debatable.
Nope. They already said they will be new lands. Someone else source.
Not possible. No way.
How many lands do they want out there on the secondary market?
from their recent article,
Let Them Have Mana
As Zac Hill mentioned last year, the core duals introduced with M10 wouldn't have been included in M13 except for how well they played with the Ravnica shocklands (okay, that last point was only implied in his article). It was very important for us that Return to Ravnica, a block based around multicolor cards, have the Standard support to make said multicolor cards playable. Keeping only one set in the core set instead of both would've caused an inequity in the mana fixing and led us to printing only one set of duals in Theros, making Block worse, and forcing us to continue an inequity somewhere else.
The article says they are sick of awkward mana bases. If there is only going to be 10 lands playable for mana fixing in Standard, and all 10 will be in Theros, they will be the fetches.
Let Them Have Mana,
means, let them have the fetches, 10, all at once,
play your decks. efficiency
we have been told the new lands will not be as conducive to 3+ colors as what we have now. fetches would basically turn standard into a crappy version of modern for a year. i'm sure we'll see all 10 fetches at some point, be it an expert expansion or something supplemental like modern masters 2, but never in the same standard environment as any dual or other multicolor lands that carry basic land types
speculation on fetches being in theros?? my oh my, that's something never seen before!
it has been stated multiple times that theros duals will make 3 colours manabases less easy than now and that the lands are new.

Yeah, they're not as conducive to 3+ colours.
The shocks are out. Remember?
This is the first year that they are going back to 10 lands in one set in a long time.
but no, they're not going to be fetch lands?
they're going to be what then?
Filter lands? with no M10 duals?
no way
if the M10 duals are out, and the shocks are out, they're going to be better than BOTH of those

5 Color mirrors all day are pretty awkward mana bases in my book, and I feel Wizards agrees with that....
I don't understand how anyone still thinks fetches will be reprinted while shocks are legal in Standard. THAT, sir, is "no, no way."
Not sure if trolling...or has never played with fetches + shocks/duals before.

Wizards print good rares, players complain about cash grab. They print underwhelming rares, players complain that the cards suck. They spoil the best cards first, players complain about the insane prices of preorders. They spoil the meh cards first, players complain that this is the worst set ever.
So. I think I understand now.
As far as these forums are concerned, WotC can never do anything good because:
Card that is new and probably good = "pushed"
Card that is new and probably bad = "EDH/casual fodder"
Card that is a reprint = "lazy"
Card that is a better version of an older card = "power creep"
Card that is a weaker version of an older card = "worthless"
Hey guys, remember how there was that 'Pft whatever' and 'not this thread again' about speculation for Fetches in Zendikar? (To be fair it was speculated to have fetches in every set since Mirrodin so... yeah)
Well. I really hope there's fetches in Theros, it'd make sense. The Filter Lands would also make sense. But to be honest? The Checklands were really powerful, in a Shockland Environment.. Just.. squeaking on the side of playing checks over fetches. Or at least mixing the two, sure you filter your deck but in even in Modern sometimes you just take the basic if you can get it.
While I don't think it'd -break- standard. (Seriously it wouldn't, Fetching into a Shock is just Emmissary going "...Cool, thanks bro!") It'd certainly make Onslaught Fetches in Modern, and there WAS talk about about the Allied/Enemy colors seeing more play based on color combinations etc.
Right now a lot of Color Combinations for decks in Modern are Wedges so.. there could be some hint to that.
Just to put it in perspective about the secondary market and Fetches.
Jace is in FTV 20.
They'll never reprint Jace.
Jace the Mindsculptor was in the video for Chandra's Ignite your spark. (Look at the photographer, very cute little easter egg for those of us who caught it)
Fetches, 'We don't like it when certain color combinations are played because of a land selection problem'
Seems we only have half the fetches in Modern. They're due for a comeback anyways.
Confirmed incorrect by WotC. Like the other 4 or 5 threads like this.
The ten fetches will be reprinted soon, but not while shocklands are in Standard (or if they are reprinted with shocks, it will be in M15 where they only impact Standard for three months).
Why is everyone so insane and not understand that by printing more of a card it will lose value and could cause an uproar.
Modern Masters was chosen carefully so not to upset collecters (but it did) and to allow players easy access to modern.
If they are going to reprint the fetches, then they will do it in MM2 and not in a random set. MM made WotC a shed ton of money and I am pretty sure Wizards are going to make another one in the future, hoplefully called Legacy Masters but thats just me.
People randomly hoping for their dream cards to be reprinted is silly. If you really wanted it printed sooner than you make a petition and then send said petition to WotC. Or you can ask them nicely why they don't do it.
No offence to mtgsalvation but they are not wizards and they have no control over what gets printed. I think the YMTC thread proves this.
As much as I hate these threads, to say they won't reprint them in Standard ever is equally as stupid. They've proven they are willing to reprint expensive cards. It just has to be the right time, and we know from what they've said that now is not the time for fetches. We know that witg 100 percent certainty, which is the real reason these threads are so damn annoyong.
WotC will *not* reprint the fetches in the same standard in which the shocklands (or other duals with basic land types) are legal. It is just not going to happen, ever.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).

but no.. they're going to be weak sauce lands?
they make a brand new format, where they can throw out legacy,

No, they're going to reprint them right now

TL;DR - No chance for fetches.
This.
I think for the (Zen) fetches to return and (Ons ones) enter Modern, the most likely scenario is a return to Zendikar with a land matters theme again.
