Hey guys, I just realized that manlands (like in worldwake/ the same cards) make a lot of sense in theros...
1) No duals in core set;
2) the block follows a multicolor block, so it is expected that they support very colored decks
3) the most important: in magicthegathering.com, they once said that they made the innistrad lands with effects so that players had what to do when they get flooded and so that players could play more lands. now, we're losing those lands.
so, the manlands would fill both of those needs for the new sets: mana fixing and mana sink. do you think it is the most likely? Discuss!
Forgive me, but I thought the justification for the Innistrad duals was the enemy colored flashback spells. I could be recalling wrong but I thought that's why they said they made them in that block.

The justification was that Standard needed enemy dual lands and they hadn't completed the M10 dual cycle yet. There was no reason inside ISD for them.
I think there's a chance that the Zendikar manlands could be reprinted for Theros. Their naming convention sounds generic enough (to me) that it shouldn't cause any flavour issues.
If they also do enemy-coloured manlands, that would be even better.
Also, aren't some of the Zendikar manlands seeing some decent play in Modern? Pretty sure Colonnade and Tar-pit see play, and this does agree with their "making Modern more accessible" policy.
could be. living mountains, forests and swamps are not that unlikely for greek and roman mythology.
so they would fit flavorwise. but still this is kinda baseless, since we have not a single clue if this can happen or not

This.
It is probably the biggest argument against dual lands in Theros. Even once Innistrad rotates, we will still have (count it!) 20 dual lands. And that's not even inclluding all the mana fixing/ramping effects that are in RTR/GTC/DGM and will almost certainly be in M14.
I would love to see Magic revert back to a time when consistent multicolored mana bases were harder to pull off. Where making a color hungry deck work meant having some skill at deck construction, not just slapping all 24-ish duals of the colors you want into a deck...
Call me old fashioned, but I think people have forgotten times when you had only a handful of non-basic lands because they fit into your strategy, not just your color combo/shard/pie...
That, and you know what they say. If Wizards started shipping $100 bills in boosters tomorrow, people would scream and cry and whine that they were folded the wrong way.

Here's a newsflash for you: Each and every block that has ever been printed has always had mana fixing in the form of lands. Heck, even before the block structure was finalized in Ice Age, we had mana fixing lands in the preceeding pseudo-blocks (Limited+Arabian Nights+Antiquities and Legends+The Dark+Fallen Empires). And this is in addition to mana fixing artifacts.
Even if we do *not* get a cycle of duals in Theros, we will be getting a common mana fixing land in the vein of Evolving Wilds or Shimmering Grotto. This is to make the block easier to draft, as it is very difficult to draft mono-color decks. As well as to make it easier to build block only decks.
The question is not *if* we will be getting lands that taps for multiple colors (or fetches lands) but rather *how many*.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).

I could see manlands in theros, but by way of Dryad Arbor variety. It seems to fit in with the Greek setting. I could see at least an island addition in the form of a river spirit. The problem would be with Mountian, Swamp and Plains.
There will be some form of mana-fixing lands (if for no reason other than block constructed), but I don't see any reason why it would be manlands. Then again, multi-land design doesn't necessarily relate to the themes of the set (see checklands in Innistrad, fastlands in Scars).

Pretty sure they were a Ravnica teaser. We just didn't see it at the time.
They are getting very good at slipping those subtle connections between blocks in now.

They just couldn't say anything about it at the time

Creeping Tar Pit just won a Legacy Open. So yah, they're used.
I wouldn't be surprised to see brand new enemy-colored Manlands. That would be cool.
