"All those souls you snuffed out. The people of Buchan, the remnants of Demernae. They'll be waiting there, hollow-eyed and hungry."
"How very sanctimonious of you. You turned on your leader, the Elemental of Justice, and murdered him in cold blood. You betrayed your kin. You even sacrificed the other fools that joined you in betrayal, just so you could be alive at the end of Creation. How are we different?"
"Don't delude yourself, Grandfather. You may rattle off a list of my transgressions until this world collapses, but it does not change your own dark heart. You are just like Voes and Yblisa, just as twisted and corrupted as them, though you delude yourself with feeble justifications. You are a monster, and I look forward to seeing you answer for your crimes on the Ghostland."
"...You aren't wrong, at least not completely. I am not proud of what I have done. I wish that Demernae were still whole and joyous, still glowing with life and warmth, and I wish that I could have saved Buchan before destroying it. But those wishes are futile. Meaningless."
"So you do feel remorse."
"Existence is like a clock, Merios. When a clock stops running, or its gears begin to falter, there's no turning it back. What has happened must remain in the past. We could continue on this path, and let the clock of this universe finally run out, as it is doing now, and wait patiently for the end to come - as you did, before I saved you."
"Or?"
"Or we could reach into that clock, fix its jammed parts, right what is wronged within its inner workings...and then wind it again and start anew."
"As Voes and Yblisa did. It didn't work for them. Why would it work for you?"
"I am not my children, Merios. Come. It is time to start our work together. Time to go back to where it all began."
"To Erhamen?"
"To Buchan. They are one and the same. The cursed, lifeless Ghostland is all that remains of the world Demernae once cherished above all others. It is a place of wretched revelation - a bitter draught that I must drink deeply of, before this is all over. So join me. Trust me."
"..."
"Or don't, and remain here, gazing at your own reflection. It is your decision - you are an automaton no longer, Merios."
"...Trust him? What sort of choice is that? None at all...."
hansanator has been lynched. He was Demernae's Love.
You moved to Erhamen, the Ghostland. At the end of the day, Sir Karn died from loss of Vitality. He was Demernae's Soul.
“The Father used to tell us that he loved Yblisa, once.”
“He did.”
“The same as you loved Demernae?”
“And she loved me. In the beginning, we were as children, and creation was our way of expressing our feelings. We brought forth bewildering creatures, and breathtaking vistas. Existence was our plaything.”
“But, as you’re so fond of saying, it couldn’t last?”
“We still felt love, but for different things. She loved the creations we had brought to life. I loved the act of creation itself. She was selfish.”
“It sounds as though you were the selfish one. The lives you caused to be meant nothing to you?”
“They didn’t mean nothing, Merios. They just meant more to Demernae.”
Welcome to Celestial Mafia, hansanator! You are Demernae’s Love.
You begin the game with 25 Vitality and have the following abilities: Ward in Flames (active/night): Target another player. For the rest of tonight, any other player who successfully targets the player you place Ward in Flames on will lose 4 Vitality. Ward in Frost (active/night): Target another player. For the rest of tonight, that player’s Vitality score cannot change except through self-inflicted Vitality loss. (Paying Vitality counts as self-inflicted Vitality loss.) Eternal Bargain (passive): When you target other players with your "Ward" abilities, you mark them with Eternal Bargain. When players so marked die, you gain 3 Vitality.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to PM me, and have fun!
“A woman. Capable of intense warmth and breathtaking cold, of depths of hatred and love. A naïve, childish being, filled with false hope.”
“Was there anything of her that you loved?”
“There was. There still is. Her magnificent imagination, capable of such dazzling insights and dreams. Without her imagination, our creation would have been dull and lifeless.”
“What became of that imagination? Did it dissipate after you separated her, like so many other parts of her?”
“Oh, no. Neither did her contentment, which I also loved. The happiness on her face when we first wrought the worlds…I remember her that way, when I choose to remember her.”
“The imagination I understand. It doesn’t seem like you to love contentment.”
“You asked me what I loved about her. Those were the parts of her soul that were worth saving.”
“Saving…?”
Welcome to Celestial Mafia, Sir Karn! You are Demernae’s Soul.
You begin the game with 25 Vitality and have the following ability: Lifebond (active/night): Target another player. You and that player lose 2 Vitality, and the world you are currently on gains 1 Vitality. Impermanence (active/night): Target another player. That player loses 3 Vitality and is protected from the first kill that would affect him or her tonight.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to PM me, and have fun!
It is now Night 4.
You moved to Erhamen, the Ghostland. On Erhamen, dead players may post in-thread during the day, and in whatever nighttalk channels they had access to while they were alive.
Vitality totals have been updated.
The deadline is set for Saturday, September 27th, at 8:00pm EST.
Some kind of savage error has crippled my main computer. I only have access to the net through an ipad, so bear with me over the next 24 hours while I try to work out a solution.
With 11 alive, it's 6 to lynch or move.
At the end of Day 4, after the lynch, you will move to Erhamen, the Ghostland.
No changes in Vitality since my last post.
You are reminded that the deadline is set for Tuesday, September 23rd, at 5:00pm EST.
Discussion took place between a bunch of people via PM, including the council, Megs, Iso, Asian, and some number of other people that are also on the FTQ committee, but without an alternative to decide between, voting via the full committee seemed a bit redundant.
Frankly, we should have had another FTQ spooled up long since. After the selection of Megs and Asian's setup, I had noticed that we seemed to have a dearth of FTQ'ing going on, but wasn't aware of the reasons why until recently.
Maybe a vote via the full committee would've brought their wealth of experience of over 40 games (conservatively) hosted to bear and would've come up with a reason why we shouldn't auto-run the only setup that's submitted. We're not exactly bursting at the seams with players, or, plainly, with FTQ-level submissions. I think running this iteration of the FTQ is an attempt to fill a demand that doesn't exist.

With 11 alive, it's 6 to lynch or move.
At the end of Day 4, after the lynch, you will move to Erhamen, the Ghostland.
No changes in Vitality since my last post.
For clarity, being listed as "killed" in the Day scene is just shorthand for dying overnight. It doesn't necessarily mean a killing ability was used on that player.
"They overcame and chained Voes? Just as easy as that?"
"He was always too eager, too headstrong."
"Much like you, Umry."
"And just like you, Dina, his sister stood back and did nothing!"
"Their alliance was ever fragile, and it had begun to unravel upon the world of Alway Etteem. All matters were coming to a head, with 3 more remnants of Demernae struck down. Her Blessing was heard by no-one, her Conviction crumbled, and her spitting, blinded Hatred finally ceased. As the last pieces of Demernae were fading away, as all that she had been was eroding, the one who had separated her returned."
"..."
"..."
"Say your catechism, Umry."
"'In the beginning there was the Word, and the Word was all there was.'"
"So the shamans tell you. Tell me, then: whence came Demernae?"
"The Word made her."
"Then why couldn't he unmake her?"
"..."
"He wasn't the first, was he?"
"There are no firsts, girl."

Rhand, Demernae's Hatred, Arianrhod, Demernae's Conviction, and LnGrrrR, Demernae's Blessing, have been killed.
“Loneliness turned to bitterness. Bitterness eventually became hatred. Demernae, my companion, grew to despise me, and she especially despised the First Halls, which I had created for her from the Vitality of Buchan.”
“You cannibalized something she loved to create something sterile. Are you surprised that she came to hate you?”
“But the First Halls weren’t sterile. That’s just it. They were alive and vibrant, lacking any of Buchan’s darkness and strife. They were a necessary progression. And with time, they would’ve grown as corrupt as Buchan, and would’ve been pruned to make way for a new world.”
“Just as our world became ‘corrupt’ and had to be ‘pruned?’”
“…”
“I can’t decide what you are, Grandfather: a monster, or simply overzealous. Perhaps both.”
“Well, Demernae decided, and one decision led to another. She resolved to try to do to me what I’d done to her: destroy something I loved….”
Welcome to Celestial Mafia, Rhand! You are Demernae’s Hatred.
You begin the game with 25 Vitality and have the following abilities: Hate Shards (active/night): Target another player and pay the difference in Vitality between yourself and that player. If you do, you kill the targeted player. Painful Resurrection (passive): Whenever you are successfully affected by an ability used by another player whose Vitality is more than yours is, you gain X Vitality, where X is 50% of the difference in Vitality between you and the player targeting you.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to PM me, and have fun!
“We had arguments that lasted years. To her, the inhabitants of Buchan were just misguided. They murdered, raped, pillaged, and called upon black magic, but nevertheless, Demernae saw them as unruly children who simply needed a sterner upbringing.”
“What did she have in mind?”
“She went in person to Buchan countless times. Most of the time, the mortals would do the usual ‘dropping-to-their-knees-in-obeisance’ routine, but towards the end, they swore at her. One even hurled a spear.”
“Why couldn’t you just let them kill themselves? She would’ve seen the truth eventually.”
“She wouldn’t have. You have no idea about the depth of her conviction. She saw the people of Buchan as her children, and like any mother, was blind to any wrong in them.”
“Not like any mother…”
“…Even so, I would’ve just written Buchan off if not for the risk to our other worlds. War, strife, barbarism – they are more than just unpleasant circumstances. They are diseases, and they would soon spread across creation.”
“Did that ever happen?”
“No, because I prevented it.”
“Don’t scoff at Demernae’s convictions, Grandfather. She wasn’t the only one.”
“…”
Welcome to Celestial Mafia, Arianrhod! You are Demernae’s Conviction.
You begin the game with 25 Vitality and have the following abilities: Justice (active/night): Target another player. If you do, then both your and that player's Vitality are averaged together, with the target's Vitality being rounded up and yours rounded down. (For example, if you had 10 Vitality and your target had 25, you would end up with 17 Vitality and your target would have 18.) Evenhanded (passive): You begin the game "left-handed." When you successfully target a player while you are left-handed, you restore 3 Vitality to that player and you become "right-handed." When you successfully target a player while you are right-handed, that player loses 3 Vitality and you become left-handed.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to PM me, and have fun!
“Did the living inhabitants of your worlds erect churches to worship you and Demernae?”
“Yes, though they were mostly directed at her.”
“Because she listened.”
“She did more than listen. Demernae would walk among them and grant her blessing. With her right hand, she blessed the peacekeepers, the constables or warriors or what have you, and with her left, she blessed all those who avoided the gaze of their enemies: pickpockets who stole to feed their families and dodged the lawkeepers, amorous young girls whose late re-entry to their homes did not awaken their draconian mothers, and the like.”
“An odd combination. Who would you have granted your blessing to?”
“Geniuses. Towering intellects. Magnificent athletes. Anyone whose capabilities verged on the immortal.”
“Why your fixation on superiority? If you had wanted your creations to show immortal capability, why not make them immortal?”
“…”
Welcome to Celestial Mafia, LnGrrrR! You are Demernae’s Blessing.
You begin the game with 25 Vitality and have the following abilities: Hand of Light (active/night): Target a player. You place the Aegis of Light on that player. If that player is targeted during the night, the Aegis of Light illuminates whoever targeted him or her (not including you.) Players illuminated this way will be clearly visible in the day scene and their names will be colored bright yellow on the player list. Hand of Darkness (active/night): Target a player. You place the Shroud of Darkness on that player, protecting them from the first harmful ability used against them. When the Shroud of Darkness blocks a harmful ability, it moves to the user of the harmful ability and grants them its effect. The Shroud of Darkness lasts for 3 day-night cycles and Hand of Darkness cannot be used while a player is under the effect of the Shroud of Darkness.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to PM me, and have fun!

"As I said, Grandfather - the mirrors of Alway Etteem hold true. You wrought better than you thought."
"Or perhaps your Father's sins are simply so black and vile that his attempts at disguise were transparent to all."
"No, not to all. 5 Celestials have already been consigned to nothingness. These remnants of Demernae are too slow to take up the scent. How many more will die before they uncover Yblisa as well?"
"How many indeed...."
"Is that your plan? Let both sides weaken each other, before you--"
"Say 'we', Merios. Since apparently you believe all of this is part of some sinister plan of mine, and you keep insisting that I brought you back from the edge of oblivion in order to act as my tool in said plan, then it would be more correct to say 'we.' You are a part of whatever is happening here, for better or worse."
"I don't choose to be."
"An Elemental should know better than to talk of 'choice.' The Father you so revile now, the one who has finally been revealed, did not forge you to choose. If you hate Voes and Yblisa, and wish for their destruction, as you so plainly do, it is only because you were made to do so."
"..."
"They cannot destroy him, any more than I could destroy Demernae. He is a higher being. Look, even now they bind him. Does the irony please you, Merios? Your Father bound and chained, made a slave, just as he did to Yblisa?"
"...it...does not. It does not please me. I thought it would, but it doesn't. Something's changed."
desCoures, Voes, the Reaper, Mafia Leader, has been lynched.
“Voes created us.”
“Yes.”
“And then he abandoned us. Why?”
“Because he…could. At first, you were enthralling, you Elementals, and the humans you served. But with time, he grew bored of your familiarity, your predictability, and he even tired of the tragically short existences of humans. He began to…search.”
“Search for what?”
“Something else. Something beyond his world, beyond the staid rules he and his sister had devised.”
“And so he left us, discarded like some…child’s plaything?”
“In fairness, he likely didn’t think of you at all. His insatiable lust for the new corrupted him, and with the millennia he became a creature of constant stimulation, forgetting his old infatuations as soon as the next came along.”
“You almost sound as though you sympathize with him. How could you?”
“Remember to whom it is you speak, child!”
“Was that meant to threaten me, Grandfather? I fulfilled my purpose at the Clock and faced oblivion, alone. What more could you do to me?”
“Believe me, it is better if you never find out.”
“No. You rescued me because you have designs on me – if I have learned anything of your kind, it is that you only show favor to lesser beings when you have a use for them.”
“Ah, now you are beginning to sound alive. No more of the subservient Elemental, is that it, Merios?”
“…”
