I love how almost everyone is trying to make this out to be a ridiculously broken set. You have to believe that there will be fillers because they aren't going to move down $30-50 rares to uncommon. They aren't going to drop $15 uncommons likes Vial to common.
Just was wondering what, if anything, anyone knows about the Planeswalker Points Achievement system being updated. I haven't played in a Magic event since Grand Prix Minneapolis back on 5/19, but two days ago I was awarded the Grand Prix Warrior achievement for competing in a Grand Prix. However, I did not receive any credit for playing in 2 formats at that same event because I did play in a 2HG side event. I also have been to 5 other GPs this year, but am only getting credit for one?
Is that any information or rumor anyone can give me about Wizards updating these achievement for past events?
Does this set become legal on Feb 4th? There is a big SCG tournament in Indianapolis on the 5th and I want to know wether to do a ton of test playing now or if it wont really matter if this set is good?
I honestly hate coming to forums where people have a good idea (seems viable as a deck to atleast test) and there are 3 pages of people saying "bolt this", "doom blade that", "counter that"..... you guys do realize that if you killed all the mana dorks (especially cobra) in mythic.dec that you pretty much won right!
there are like 850 cards in standard and there is an answer for everything you would play! that does not mean you can dismiss someones idea just because of the existance of bolt, counters, and doom blade!
until you guys get into the hall of fame, which i am not saying i am, but you need to keep an opened mind. you dont see conley woods saying "i cant play soul sisters because my creatures die to infest, pyroclasm effects"
Zwi Mowshowitz said in his twitter that he's sorry to all mythic bant players cause Gideon will /should be played in mythic... I just haven't really figured out what to take out or so. Got myself one Gideon already.
The man who designed the deck says he should/will be played in the deck..... so when we get results from actual events (not midwest masters or fnms at star city) we will see him as a 2 of in some combination of maindeck and sideboard.
You must be playing against bad players. There are several good Jund players in my area (a close friend being one of them, which means I get Jund practice all the time). It's always an uphill battle for me.
OK I understand that in your area there are good Jund players.... but not everyone playing Jund is a good player. I asked WHY is Jund a bad match and the only answers I have gotten are basically "because". Someone please explain in depth why Jund is so amazing over us?
Ok, I have been playing Vamps for close to 4 months now and I keep seeing over and over again "Vampires just loses to Jund", "Jund > Vampires", ect. Now I realize the FNM is not a PTQ or a 5k.... but I beat Jund consistanly (probably 75% of the time).
Can someone please explain why this matchup is so hard? Here is my decklist if it helps?

I feel I have a pretty good matchup to this. Gatekeeper actually comes out and a couple 1 ofs..... in comes 4 Smother, 3 Doom Blade, and another Bloodwitch from the board.
The key is that you cannot keep your starting 7 unless you have a way to deal with T3 Baneslayer (or kill a bunch of mana dorks before they can cast)!
If that is a Tendrils on your turn 5.... probably not good enough.
If it is Bloodwitch, seems solid for T5 since you pretty much are pro most of the deck!
Doom Blade makes it an easy choice!
Urge to Feed.... this takes some tricks but usually gets the job done too if you are lucky enough to have an active Nocturous or Nighthawk out!
Casualties or Infest.... seem pretty good at whiping out the mana dorks, but not really anything else. Turn 2/3 this is awesome but anything after seems close to dead?
I had a mono-white Planeswalker to characterize myself in my own set. Who is to say that I couldnt have beat Wizards to the punch.

+1: If any player controls more lands than you, you may search your library for 2 Plains cards and put them into your hand.
0: Put a 2/2 white Human Knight Rouge creature tokens with First Strike and Vigilance onto the battlefield.
-4: Each player chooses a number of lands he or she controls equal to the number of lands controlled by the player who controls the fewest, then sacrifices the rest. Players discard cards and sacrifice creatures the same way.
Loyalty: 3
Sure, Balance for -4 seems ridiculous.... but it is within Lightning Bolt range and its +1 ability is based off of Gift of Estates and that card was very conditional so getting to Balance is going to be tough.
The 0 ability really is by far the best on here as it makes a 2/2 Vigilent First Striker with no penalty!
