Spellskite works, sort of. If you have an instant that could target Spellskite during an opponents end-step, you can change the target of it to Spellskite an arbitrary number of times just before your turn. Of course, this only works for NDE if your life total is odd.
Phyrexian processor is no good because it happens at sorcery speed and both NDE and Second Chance check life totals at the beginning of your upkeep. I'm not keen on letting the rest of the table have a turn after setting myself to 1 life. I guess sorcery speed life altering could be paired with extra turn sorceries, but that's getting pretty complicated.
For either to work really well, we need to be able to pay life at instant speed.
If someone were to go the NDE route there are a few Cleric-type cards that say "Pay 1 Life: Prevent the next 1 damage to this creature" and Crovax, Ascendant Hero
If someone in your playgroup brought a Pauper deck to play against everyone else's regular decks how would the group handle it? Let them use their chosen Uncommon/Common general or make them choose a corresponding legend?
So game one...Trading Post got Oblivion Ringed? If it was Detention Sphered as the article says then that's a problem since they weren't supposed to be mainboarded.
I like the idea behind the article, though. Nice to see some brewing.
On topic: In reading through the comments I've not seen any mention of "Epic Beard Guy's" mental health.
Did he sound like a racist? Yes, and there's no excusing that. But the circumstances in his life that brought him to where he is now are unlike the circumstances most of us will ever experience. He claims to be a Vietnam vet and, after watching a couple interviews, I would speculate he is likely mentally/emotionally unstable. He lacks a certain coherence you would expect from most people and it wouldn't be a stretch to say he's possibly homeless.
He seems to have led a pretty tough life and when you mess with that type of person you really don't know what you're getting yourself into. I don't think he handled himself appropriately in the situation as a whole, but once he was physically provoked I feel he chose an acceptable level of violence. Had both or either parties involved been fully "there" (brainswise, that is) I don't expect this probably would have occurred. The black guy probably would have giggled with the camera girls about the kooky old racist with a fanny pack and the old guy would have wondered what the hell the world's coming to when you can't ask a younger man the going price for a 'spit shine.'
eidolon, I appreciate the information and critique.
I know aggro is not well-supported and that is because my playgroup tends to dislike it. Most of my friends vastly prefer midrange/control, with a few combo junkies on the side. I will consider revisions to this after we've had a chance to play a couple games.
I felt like my mana curve was unbalanced and your graphics definitely justify that feeling.
As far as missing 'cube staples', that wasn't a concern of mine. I built this with my spare cards and actually removed some of the cards with higher power levels because they just weren't interesting or could lead to boring plays. Examples: Removed *** and Journey to Nowhere because I felt white had enough removal effects and didn't want the 'no regeneration' compared to DoJ allowing the few creatures with regeneration to survive a sweeper.
There are many enchantments/auras that have found a home in my cube due to my personal affection for the card type. This has led to some stronger cards being displaced. One point of concern there is that the 2 colors with the strongest/most abundant enchantments also have a majority of the enchantment hate.
All criticism and advice is helpful and appreciated. It allows me to either justify my choices or change them - and in doing so I gain an understanding of why I chose/shouldn't choose certain cards.
This is a cube made up entirely of cards I just had laying around. Bits and pieces came from EDH decks I had started but never finished, so I'm considering drafting commanders as well. For that reason there are no multi-color legends listed because they would be drafted separately.
It's my first cube, so I have no clue how it'll work in drafting but I think it'll be a decent start.
I'd say this third debate, in a vacuum, was a draw. Obama was very aggressive, but wasn't able to coax Romney into a heated argument. Romney was very calm and collected and ensured he wouldn't make any major gaffes.
I think as a whole it works in Romney's favor. He came out seeming more moderate on foreign policy than what Obama wanted to portray him as. He maintained his economic stance and just his game tight.
Obama was much stronger in this debate than the second one, and I don't think he even attended the first, but Romney never gave him the opportunity to land a knock out blow. Obama really needed that knock out blow, but it just kept slipping away and Romney played good D.
I finally got all the parts to put my most recent project together.
This started as a typical 90-ish Mountain Ashling, but as I gained components I've been incorporating them and I'm working on foiling it now.
This deck can go the Voltron route, but the biggest plays come from finding an equipment with deathtouch and slap it on Ashling, Sharpshooter, Cliffriders, or a Phoenix.
This deck is great in political playgroups, and will likely make a less interactive playgroup become more political due to the fact that you're ready to wipe an opponents board at a moment's notice.
This is, however, a casual deck. It's not going to hold up to turn 4 combos and other shenanigans. But if you enjoy playing splashy, casual EDH this is a good deck to look at. It's also very inexpensive, with the nonfoil version costing right around $50 when using the "Cart Optimizer" of a popular online TCG store.
Awful in my experience. I expected good things, honestly, but it was nearly useless.
My partner and I pulled 2 in our pool during 2HG and we saw each card once (I decked one and he did the same), but it just didn't make an impact. Early on we had better things to do, late in the game it was just irrelevant.
Growing it long in the back,
So savage and so free.

Ad Nauseam would be my stand-out contribution. ANT was brutal and fast.
I'd say after that, Zendikar had the highest impact.
