Two minutes is a long time to be honest. It is one thing to be taking 15-20 seconds to think of a play or a line of plays, but when you take 2 minutes, that is 4% of the total time for the event between potentially 3 games with 2 players.
It is ok to take long terms if you are constantly making plays, like Storm for instance, but just making a play or 2 a turn and taking 2 minutes is pretty slow. You should constantly be thinking about your next play during your opponents turn to save time.
Here is the thing about Modern, most higher level players hate the format because 1)It is stale, and 2) The sideboard cards are so powerful that it makes the games super swingy and high variance.
They need to do something to make the format fun again or it is going to get worse quickly.

Hi! I am new to the game. I am looking for information on the following things:
1) What formats are played
2) What sets are legal in what format
3) What are some of the good, trustworthy stores to buy and sell Pokemon cards to
4) Are there any good facebook groups for people that want to buy/sell/discuss pokemon cards?
5) Where can I find tournament results and decklists.
6) How does the rarity system work?
The people saying that Temples are not good cards are out of their minds. The Temples are extremely powerful and arguably better than the Shocklands in the Standard format. For example: The U/W decks pre-Born of the Gods played 4 Temples that were not U/W because of the powerful effect it produces. They are also very strong in the aggressive decks with cards like Domri and Courser of Kruphix.
This thread is really laughable to be honest. Anyone can play in a non-professional or higher event. The store owner can even play in the event! The TO or Judge can play! If the owner says it is ok for his employees to play in the event, and it won't hinder the store, then I would say he is in fact a great person to work for! There is nothing unfair about it at all, and if they win and you don't, there is only one person to blame.
I wasn't even going to go to the event and I knew that it was being canceled the day it was announced. If you are planning to go to an event, and a major storm hits that area, might be best to check to see if it is still going on.
The storm happened in the middle of the week, they can't cancel it Monday/Tuesday, they have to wait to see if the storm is as bad as it is, and then cancel. It isn't even close to a black-eye. I don't even like SCG, and I think that people's reactions are so far overblown.
I honestly can't believe people are upset at SCG for canceling it. It is a safety hazard to not only the players but their own staff. People should get over it...
So, I got my desktop back and was trying to log-in, but it kept telling me I was a banned user, which obviously is not the case since I am posting this. Any thoughts on this? Also, if this is the wrong forum, sorry.
What situations would ya'll find yourself siding out all Pack Rats in? I'm having a very hard time justifying siding them out against anything that isn't U/W/x control. Against most of the dominant strategies an unanswered turn 2 Pack Rat into more rats can just end the game incredibly fast.
I cut 1-2 Rats depending on what the deck I am up against is doing. Control decks I tend to just cut down to 3 rats, and I think a deck has Mortars I cut down to 2 Rats. Against the fast aggro decks I leave them in on blocking duty. Played against GW the other day and I have never blocked so fast as I did with my rat against their 2/1 creature
1) The original post makes absolutely zero sense as Rancored said. The terminology and how it is used clutters any thoughts in the first post.
2) SCG or any other entity can do whatever they want, when they want because there are no set rules or regulations in place to stop this, nor will there ever be.
3) If you want "buy-outs" to stop on TCG, get the programmer there to implement something that puts a stop gap of 4 per cart at a time. That will make buy-outs inefficient time-wise and should slow them down.
4) It is also not the masses that panic during a buyout, but the few. There are MILLIONS of copies of each card, plenty to go around, but a few ppl panic and then prices go up. Common sense is not in high quantity when it comes to magic players and finance
So, I haven't built my own computer in like 11 years (college computer I built lasted like 7 years, my current desktop is on year #4 and got it built locally). However, with my desktop fritzing out for the 3rd time in a month, I am thinking of at some point this year building a new one and was looking to see where everyone uses to get supplies and parts for the their PCs.
This is what I don't get, there are always cards available to buy. There are millions upon millions of each card printed and no one person can buy enough copies of a card to put a major dent into the price of a card realistically. It just comes down to looking harder instead of just accepting that some one is manipulating the market. I mean if some one buys out TCGplayer, that is what? 80 copies of a card where there are millions printed? People need to be more realistic with these ideas.
