That's the class of rares where stores have their highest profit margin. Like on $1 rares you're looking at bulk, $2 .25ish $4 1ish. Now if you're okay with getting that moneywise there's nothing wrong with that, but those are the prices where stores make their best rates. $5-10 you should still be hitting 40-50% on in buy prices. $7'es will be $3, $5'es will be $2, and sometimes $8'es are $3 as well dependant on card. But sometimes you'll get the round up or 50% on even numbers. Just where I'm sitting on the other side of this conversation.
Pretty much. There is no "rights" issue that's dumb. It is however, natural and normal to be agitated, or even slightly upset, that we were directly told we'd get a spoiler by X, not get it and then are offered no explanation. The full spoiler nowadays comes out at the end of the Friday of the last spoiler week (though they delayed the full Vintage Masters spoiler to time up with Conspiracy) so even by normal standards its late. I'd just appreciate it so that I can appropriately budget my disposable income and pre-order or not pre-order a box with confidence. This delay could cost WOTC some money and they only have themselves to blame.
Nope it won't cost WOTC anything, might cost your LGS some, but with allocations the way they are on this set I'd be surprised if they aren't going to be able to sell every box they want to pre-sell even without your confident box.
Also did they ever say which Friday? Because the set is generally spoiled on the Friday before release which would be this Friday.
It's good if your deck wants a 1/1 flier early game that has the option of being a control magic in the end game. That's a fine place to be, but what decks out there want that particular combination of abilities?
Umm as a store I'd have to check all the numbers, but I'm seeing $700, unless I know I can move stuff quickly which on a lot like that isn't likely. At that point though I'd see $1k tops. Now obviously you're not looking to sell to a store on this, but even as a trader I see the numbers for selling on here at $900 and $1200tops on this. Hope this helps some, but if you expect to get anywhere closer to the full number you need to split this up into at least 3 different lots.
Actually a store giving out 2 playmats signed up for 2 tournaments one on sat and one on sunday then declined to run the 2nd tourney which is in violation of the dci. But no one ever calls out stores that do that since people prefer the double prizes
There are of course people who don't charge the extra 4% for paypal but they are few and far between. Honestly I'd go for those people as they're the ones who are likelier to be businesses or someone who's paying taxes on said card sales. Paypal goods allows you to contet it and always keep your pm'es for this purpose both received and sent out. Make sure there's delivery confirmation, and if it's your first time I'd recommend making sure their itrader is maybe 50+. It means they have more to lose by ripping you, not saying it's impossible, but a lot less likely than say someone with 5ish itrader.
Then I'm guessing you've never missed day 2 of a gp because you had to draw with an opponent who took up 40 of the 50 minutes dead on turn 6 of the 5 turns and had a judge not call slowplay for whatever reason. Personally I've had to scoop instead of drawing multiple times because I play under the rules of if you're willing to ask you better be willing to scoop. I've also gotten into multiple ptq t8'es because of it though I'm really unfortunate enough to be paired down a ****ton. I learned to play this way after I got 9th at a GP, and decided I didn't want to be in that position again.
Someone asked me to concede after a draw in the final round eliminated us both from the top 8. I quite literally laughed in his face. Unless it's to a close friend and it's to get into the money, there are very few situations I would ever consider scooping like this. Win legit or you don't get the win
Then I hope you never ever ask for a concession in the same spot, assuming of course that you ever actually get there. Because I've learned people will never ever do it, but oh man will they beg for it when it's their turn.
As for the OP, Rd 3 no, Rd 5 with that prize structure would require some talking outside before the match assuming knowledge of pair up based on final rd tb rules. Without talking beforehand (outside obv) no I wouldn't as 12 packs relatively covers the $30 entry fee.
Nope they refused to do them stating that modern has support from Wotc, and so they just won't do any. I understand the logic. It's funny right now on Magic online there's a modern daily event and a legacy daily even 1 hour from each other on a Saturday. Modern has 96 players in it and legacy has 29.
They tried it for about 6 months last year - viewing figures were down, attendance was down and while I can't confirm it 100%, I'd say that based on the fact that fewer people came, revenue was down compared to legacy because people can get modern fixes easier than legacy fixes. There's modern as FNM, modern readily available on MTGO, GP's, a PT each year and an entire PTQ season of it.
By comparison, there are no legacy PT, PTQs or FNMs, legacy events rarely fire on MTGO and when they do, its like 10 people, there are only 2 legacy GP's a year. So when it comes to the opens, the legacy players will travel a lot further than the modern players, because its basically the only legacy event that's both a decent size and held regularly.
There has never been a modern open, will the legacy fanbase please stop saying they've failed. Realistically modern would probably get more people per tournament, but the loss in inventory from SCG would be to high to make that feasible. But please let's not actually think legacy is played by more people than modern. It merely gets a lot more support from SCG and SCg supports it better than Wotc does with modern. There's a reason that on Magic Online where both formats are equally supported modern's player numbers are over 2x legacys.
