Is SCG modern open a good indication of the metagame? Jarine is playing 2 Decay and no terminate..

Would Molten Vortex/Seismic Assault actually be better than Grim Lavamancer especially in 25 land build? My problem with Grim Lavamancer is that it doesn’t have haste and it’s ability requires you to tap it, so you can only activate it once a turn.

On the other hands Finks haven't impressed me that much. I prefer Brutality as Burn hate and for grind games I like Last Hope or a 3rd Command and Hazoret more...

What do you side in for burn other than brutality?

I'm experimenting with 24 lands with 1x Thoughtseize in the main for it's place.

How many abrupt decay and maelstrom pulse should we run in our 75?

Currently this is the list I came up with after reading (almost) everyone’s post. Tried it a few game and although with 24 lands, I’m don’t have any problem casting those 8x 3cmc + 4 BBE and never have problem with the land configuration. Not sure if I missed out anything but the deck feels fine. I do however hope to find slot for at least another spellbomb, lily last hope, kitchen finks and maybe a 2nd wrath either in damnation or flaying tendrils in the sideboard. I also felt like dropping one bolt for another fatal push in the main too. I guess until Master Reid Duke enlighten us with his new list as well as when the meta have settled down, we will not be able to settle on a real standard list for BBE jund.

Question: actually what is that 1 of Grim Lavamancer use for?

Anyway, If i have a liliana of the veil on the field and opponent have a creature, should I cast BBE 1st or should I activate lily veil ability 1st? And should I + or - her? We are running 4 lily veil, there is definitely a chance of cascading into another lily veil while there’s also a chance of hitting a removal too, so I’m not sure.. which should be the correct play? Because of this, I’m thinking of dropping lily veil to 3 and MD 2 lily last hope, opening a slot in the side for maybe a singleton Grim Lavamancer or 2nd Kitchen Finks.

And what do everyone think what the metagame will be like? with jtms unban, I’m expecting there’s going to be a lot of uw miracle and grixis control with so many trying to break modern with jtms.. at least for the next month or so? After that maybe there might even be jeskai miracle or even esper control emerging? That’s my guess..

I agree there’s a lot of red source, but it’s not just for BBE, need red for raging ravine too. I’m thinking of 2-2 or 1-3 blackcleave cliffs and blooming marsh split.. still unsure which would be correct..
