My decklist was suboptimal as I haven't played in forever and threw this together at the last minute and I made a lot of play mistakes, but this is what I ran.
Do you run it in addition to SoFaI or instead of it? Because in a blue meta I'd rather play SoFaI...especially against Merfolk and Faeries (each time you connect, and you will because of pro blue, you can knock down a dude).
In addition, SoFaI is clearly the better of the two.
Played in a 8 man tourney last night. 3 Rounds Swiss. Placed first which was pretty sweet.
Beat Rock, Merfolk and some sort of strange (but good) Faerie Control.
I run Finn's list but with Grand Abolisher instead of Grunt. I also have Sword of Body and Mind in the sideboard as I have a blue heavy meta. Both of those cards were all-stars for me last night.
I played in a tournament the other night and even though I scrubbed out 1-3 (terrible matchups and terrible luck on my part) Grand Arbiter was an all-star (vs. control anyway). A vialed in Arbiter just causes fury from control playing opponents.
super- in ur opinion what are the better cards..i run 2 ofs cause some things dont need 4..and to keep a deck at 60..u have to limit cards to make room for more.
You should get rid of the 2 ofs of the lesser cards to make room for four ofs of the better cards, it'll be worth it. Also, I'd up it to 4 Terramorphic Expanse.
In my opinion, Student of Warfare has a better cost-benefit ratio compared to Figure of Destiny.
3/3 firststrike for WWW vs. 2/2 for WW or 4/4 for WWWWW
At 3/3, it still dies to Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning, but not to (Fire/Ice)" target="blank">(Fire/Ice) or Grim Lavamancer.
The question is, how good is level up really? I did not play with Figure of Destiny, so i can't guess how often they burn my creature in response to leveling up...
Firststrike helps against Wild Nacatl, obviously. But is it fast enough?
Turn 1 Vial, turn 2 Vial Student of Warfare in and pay WW to pump? Only at sorcery-speed, because level up requires this, so he is no suprising blocker...
And without Vial? We need our turn 2 for so many actions. Student of Warfare (as 3/3) would make the deck much slower i think, while Figure had some speed advantages as 2/2 compared to the Student of Warfare (turn 1 Figure, turn 2 pump it for W and cast another cmc 1 spell).
I only found this in the Rumor Mill:
And rules say this to Figure + Flickerwisp:
Maybe?
R1 - Combo Elves L0-2 (0-1)
R2 - Thresh Counter Top W2-1 (1-1)
R3 - Thresh Counter Top W2-1 (2-1)
R4 - Maverick L1-2 (2-2)
R5 - Dredge W2-1 (3-2)
R6 - Burn W2-0 (4-2)
R7 - Zoo W2-0 (5-2)
The Dredge game was super messy, game 3 went to turns and I won on turn 5. The card that saved me was a Runed Halo naming Narcomeba of all things.
Heroes of the day were Grand Abolisher, Batterskull, Serra Avenger and Wheel of Sun and Moon.

I'm here all week.
In addition, SoFaI is clearly the better of the two.
Beat Rock, Merfolk and some sort of strange (but good) Faerie Control.

I think that Jotun Grunt is the obvious one that has to go here.
You should get rid of the 2 ofs of the lesser cards to make room for four ofs of the better cards, it'll be worth it. Also, I'd up it to 4 Terramorphic Expanse.
Also, Hedron Crab is infinitely better if you run fetchlands
And I can't see why you're only running 2 Glimpse the Unthinkable, that should definitely be upped to 4. You should up it to 4 Mind Funeral as well.
I mean, it's a turn 0 answer to combo which is never a bad thing... I think?
It doesn't, but then again neither does anything we have. Hence the need for Karakas.
