Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle could be a potential Myr Retriever replacement. Retriever has the added benefit of being an artifact. Does Teshar have have an upside for the combo that Retriever does not?
Naban, Dean of Iteration is playable, and good, in this deck, correct? Anytime a Wizard, including himself, etb, both the counter dorks get double triggers. Anytime Reflector Mage comes in, double bounce. Meddling Mage names 2 cards... This seems a little wacky and crazy good to me, especially if you are running Bobs for a higher amount of wizards to trigger the dorks.
If the opponent has a Yixlid Jailer on the battlefield and I cast a Soulflayer exiling a Bloodbraid Elf or something else with abilities printed on it, does Soulflayer still get the abilities?
I understand the cards don't have the abilities in the graveyard, but the cards do when exiled which makes me question it.
I've actually been testing it a fair amount with a buddy on cockatrice already (and hopefully I'll have my missing cards in before fnm next week). So far it is preforming pretty well. The worst match up with my build is Tron, it is basically unbeatable. Blood Moon also kills the deck quite well if you don't see it coming. On the other hand, I feel fairly strong vs most other decks. Everything having haste is super relevant vs most decks and the deck can definitely survive graveyard hate if they try to go that route. I'm basically pretending that Soulflayer is an upgraded version of Vengevine #5-8. If they path one, who cares, there are 7 more in the deck.
Hi all! I'm new to this archetype, but it looks really fun. I like where everything seems to be going. I browsed several pages, but saw that everyone seems to be leaning towards loot fatties and eat those. I wanted to play lower to the ground and more quickly. I don't want to loose to graveyard hate and want random top decks to be relevant at most parts of the game. I took a lot of inspiration from the HollowOne deck when designing this, which is probably obvious. Have any of you tried something similar to this recently?
Your deck seems much more midrange than most of the decks I've seen. By the time we are on turn 4, we want to be winning usually, not casting Sidisi, Brood Tyrant. Also in testing, the traditional list never needs more than 3 mana to win, from what I've found.
So in my list, I replaced the Diregraf Ghoul with Blood Scrivener. Moving all my standard staples to the trade binder and I noticed him. So rarely do I have a hand by the end of turn 3, so he gives me extra dredges, he is a zombie, and he is only slightly harder to cast. I'm liking him in play testing so far.
Sorry I just realized unearth doesn't count as casting a creature. Would arbor Dryad count as casting a creature? If so could we run dryad+loam?
I thought this was common knowledge. I was thinking it was weird that everyone in this thread was recommending Unearth creatures, which don't exactly help the Vine get online and are more expensive than Diregrafs. Casting Gravecrawler does trigger casting though.
If you want Pauper EDH Voltron, my choice would be Invisible Stalker or a card like him. Out of your choices, Twinclaw would be my pick, but I feel as though you need built in evasion, otherwise you are wasting bad cards on already bad cards.
- Spell slinger style deck.
- Casual and fun multiplayer deck.
- Not Nekusar, the Mindrazer (he is getting hated on pretty hard on the forums at the time of writing this)
Well, I wanted a fun tribal deck to work, but I don't think Insect is that tribe. I am retiring this list from my deck box after only 3 weeks with it. The deck isn't terrible, but it is not consistent enough. There are too few creatures with infect and you don't really want to see the noninfect ones normally. If anyone wants to play around with this decks idea, be my guest.
