Gweivyth, pretty sure people are just pointing out that if it bonds with your turn 1 creature, then you can't bond it with anything else until that one dies. So yes, you would need your creature to die, preferably when you want it to.
Just to throw my two cents in, I opened one of these at a prerelease event. I've been somewhat on the fence since I saw it, and I can probably make arguments both supporting it and against it. Anyway, since my build was R/B I figured I would experiment and throw it in.
It didn't win me the game, but it was fun to use. I played the one I had in just about every game. Near the end of the event I did find myself having him in my hand and not playing him because I didn't want to risk messing with my hand.
I guess if I could label any one card as being situational then this would get my vote. Even if it doesn't necessarily provide a card advantage, I was opening myself up to new spells faster than my opponent was, which definitely helped in my aggro build.
I feel that I would have more luck casting Master's Call at the end of my opponent's turn, and then casting Shape Anew on my turn; than I would by casting Blade Splicer, waiting through my turn, then my opponents turn, and THEN casting Shape Anew.
I do like including Snapcaster Mage so that I'll get a second chance for Shape Anew should something go awry; if I'm running U/W then doesn't it make sense to find room for Blade Splicer? It curves out well, creature advantage, plus I get an artifact for Shape Anew to eat if I'm not drawing Inkmoth Nexus.
Well, I felt as though U/G would be faster than U/W.
T1 : Forest -> Birds of Paradise
T2 : Inkmoth Nexus -> Birds of Paradise or Llanowar Elves -> Birds of Paradise/Llanowar Elves
T3 : Hinterland Harbor -> With six available mana sources, cast Autumn's Veil -> Activate Inkmoth Nexus -> Cast Shape Anew, sacrificing the Inkmoth Nexus -> Reveal cards until you reveal Blightsteel Colossus.
U/G gives me the ramp that I need. But, seeing as how I really need the perfect hand to set that off, I'll give some though to a U/W decklist.
Good eye, thankyou! I don't want to run the Sphere as I don't want to risk hitting another artifact with Shape Anew; we'll just Rampant Growth in the meantime. Aside from that, suggestions? Comments?
