If they can manage a firearm safely in spite of being blind, sure. There are people who can handle a motor vehicle despite not having hands; although safely using a gun without functional eyes seems like a harder obstacle to overcome (If doable at all).
Wait...There are video game Journalists? I thought those went the way of Nintendo Power; once everyone realized they were just shills for whichever Publisher gave them the most money that week.
Many grammatical rules are Arbitrary. They serve no purpose except to let some people feel superior to others.
Words are just symbols used to express concepts. As long as you understand the speaker's meaning, they have successfully communicated. Grammar exists to help us communicate; the pretentious pricks are just an added...bonus.
The point is the have Ritual > Hymn+duress available. It will not always be your best possible choice, but it *is* a powerful opener. Simply by running dark ritual in the first place you're sacrificing some amount of card advantage for a tempo advantage. Leading Ritual into Duress hymn nullifies that card advantage, along with screwing up the hand that they kept. Don't underestimate the power of that random discard, since it can easily hit lands as well, turning even a good hand into crap. Then you continue on without having your gameplan screwed over, because you picked which of your three cards you spent.
Or you ritual into Arena, Liliana, or whatever else.
Personally, I would go with Smallpox as my ideal turn two followup.
Banefire for 20 would cost you 20 life, so you'd need to generate at minimum 1RGG to win. GG for channel, R for Banefire, and 1 to go along with the 19 from Channel to win the game.
Honestly, GG seems fairly annoying to generate. All of the good rituals make black or red mana. Turn one kills off of channel just don't seem reliable.
You must remember that in Legacy it wouldn't be restricted. Also, you can generate all 20 off of Channel, if I am correct in remembrance, it comes about due to when game states are checked.
In my mind, due to the abilities of legacy, the odds are that Channel would find itself in a deck akin to Belcher in its reliability.
You can pay all twenty life into channel, yes. You would lose the game due to having zero life well before banefire actually hit the opponent, however. Plus, even if that were to work (or if you planned to generate 19 mana off channel), it would be a terrible wincon due to spells like lightning bolt. As a general rule, Lightning Bolt should not remove your combo.

Your opponent's usual play will be to choose the same card you did (in 1v1, anyways), but they do have the option of choosing a second of their permanents and having it exiled, if they so desire. But realize that nothing requires them to pick a different card than you chose. I have seen that misunderstanding come up a few times.
Trying to cover up a mistake is cheating, certainly, and should be punished.
Players should be educated that making a mistake isn't grounds for a DQ, or even a game loss often. I can't tell you how many times I've forgotten simple things, even ones with huge implications (like forgetting to put cards back off brainstorm even). At Most RELs, that isn't even a game loss the first time, if it's caught immediately.
That violent outburst is definitely grounds for a DQ though, I believe. Even at an FNM, that kind of this is not, nor should it be, permissible.
One way you could go with this is to grab a couple of Runechanter's Pike and run with that. There used to be a standard deck that used the pike along with the creatures you're using and did pretty well. I remember it being fun to play also.
Or you could use Sword of fire and ice and the like if you don't want to hassle with a self-mill theme.

Or a turn one liliana if you get them.
