FNM has dissolved into everyone playing homebrew decks. Nobody is running tiered decks really, people have been building funny decks (or modifications to older standard decks that aren't relevant anymore) and it's been a blast.
Personally I've been playing a LD/Bounce Cascade Control deck.
It's been performing really well, and is a blast to play.
Not at my shop. Plenty of people still running fearies, kithkin, 5cc, and tezzeret
Ok, I'll just trust you. A Woolly Thoctar on turn 2 sure does suck- why would I want that?
Honestly, it depends on the rest of your build. The Woolly Thoctar will get you there faster and is better if you are pure aggro. If your deck is more midrange, run the Rhox War Monk.
yea with 8 ramp lets run a 3 casting cost agro deck
yeah hellkite is only so good because of the flash. You can clear the field or clear most of it then block. Or kill a 10/10 if you have to I'll definitely put 3 in just because it usually wins the game.
Preliminary Orb of Insight results say that not only is Fertile Ground not being reprinted in Zendikar, there also won't be any functional reprints. This assessment is based on the absence of the word "produces" in the set:
Here's hoping they reprint one or more Rampant Growth-onna-stick effects to soften the blow.
They might have a land that comes into play with another land
Just look at the other nonbasic lands for Zen. It's possible.
Well the reason i have only 2 hellkites, 2 dragons and 2 warps is because there's plenty of drawing and also cards that pull the lands out of my library so my chances of getting these bombs mid-late game is great. The problem i had with having more than 2 is just too many high casting cost cards early game.
yeah i was trying to make this Zendikar-ready progenitus.
bitterblossom and mutavault are 2 expensive cards i do not have and that rotate soon so i was trying to avoid them but they would make the deck better.
I'll give inkwell a shot. Maybe 1 ink 1 progenitus.
Ok I've been testing this deck for a few months against the field ever since i saw the first post (i'm part of the most competitive playgroup in town) and this is what the deck has evolved into:
1) nucklavee is superfluous... seriously, it was a vanilla 4/4 far too often
2) Broodmate and siege-gang do a near-flawless job of mucking up the battlefield (ughh i HATE that word) pre-warp world
3) Keeper of Progenitus is a cog, not a necessity
4) Shriekmaw is very helpful against forge-tenders
and finally
5) Bogardan Hellkite is better than warp world
This deck really just says "i have better spells than you" with finishers like siege-gang, broodmate, hellkite, and warp world. Also the matchups are fantastic, it destroys faeries, kithkin, and 5CC. Blightning.dec can be hard but with all the bombs in this deck its at least 50-50, over the hundreds (yes seriously) hours of testing i've found that warp world is my '8 mana tech' but hellkite and broodmate win far more games, and everyone knows how good seige-gang is in this deck.
Trust me, i've tried naya and RGu builds and i feel confidant in saying that Jund is by far the way to go.
Edit: oops got the numbers wrong. Fixed.
I totally agree with everything you said.
I only play tested for a couple hours but nucklavee already was put into the SB and replaced by Caldera hellion (which has been perfect. won me 3 games having it MB) But against forge-tender Shriekmaw with be better.
I also put elvish visionary in just after a couple games of testing. Maybe ill try bumping to 4.
Just one question i have for you.
Why do you have 4 traces and 3 fertiles? Shouldn't it be the other way around? Since you have 15 forests and 6 mountains casting trace could be an issue. (its a low chance though when you have cards like BoP and visionary)
Also, no farhaven elf?
EDIT: Actually, 2 questions - How do you sideboard it?
