Okay Lethal Vapors , Question I think I can activate the 0-ability any number of times I want correct? It seems the destruction would not prevent me from skipping my next 8000000000000 turns correct?
If the above is true what happens if my opponents don't want me to slip my next 800000000000 turns and they try skipping the same number of turns , but I respond and lethal vapors 0 ability again?? how does an infinite number of turn skips work ? Is there a ruling for this situation? would it matter if I did that 0 cost on someone else's turn?

Fusion Elemental is like riding a pony, which probably doesn't sound dangerous, except that in this case the pony is 300 feet tall and covered in chainsaws, and to get on the pony you have to take an elevator with sixteen live cougars.
Frost Titan Question about Frost Titan.. Say I play it and blink/ or give haste and get 2 tap triggers. If i target the same permanent does it not untap once or twice?
I think its does not untap twice like , yosei keeps tapped twice if it died twice, but some one pointed out it says untap step not whole step. Skipping step not same as frost titan... who is right?

My education is BA from UC Berkeley, which yes did lean me more left, but not as fanatic as people I know;
On the website Surging Chaos posted; I was Left Liberation; I did not write my score down but one was nearly 7 and the other was a tad under 6. I leaned more than I thought, but I realize I might agree with more extreme views, but realize they won't be implemented realistically in a long time.
On my personal views; I say I am almost extreme left socially in all ways except abortion (due to Philosophical reasons). Economically I fall more center-ish but really it shifts the more I learn on the subject (love econ pod cast :))

That was partly why I suggested a non-STEM PhD. It's possible to complete one without an undergraduate degree (or even coursework) in the same field. I have a friend who is pursuing a PhD in Sociology, for example. It's not a bad gig - free tuition, small stipend & whatever grant money he can bring in. And while he initially thought he'd head into a professorship, as he specializes in an area through his dissertation work, opportunities in industry have become possible.
I hear you. I also wish that I knew exactly what I wanted to be when I went into school and didn't have any of the stops/starts and direction changes; I'd be further ahead in my career by now. But most people take a few tries to figure it out and that's OK, too.
I would primarily encourage you to be strategic about the next direction you take. Picking up a Masters to earn $40K/year isn't worth it!
Hello cme!
Could you pm/ post your story? And i think PHD in another field has same problem I worry, 7(I know it can vary) of certainty seems odd. In addition I have a friend who was doing one in Math.. He has worries and things that make it kind of scary, but those were more about academia.
Thanks for the Response MasteroftheCards. Retraining is probably the way to go, then. It's a good idea to take the pre-reqs at an inexpensive community college, so there's that.
As far as 'computer' classes go, be careful there, too, because computer science is one of the most popular 'tech' degrees out there. Make sure you have a goal in mind before you spend a lot of time pursuing the degree.
I wish you the best of luck, and I wish I could be more help. As another poster commented, UC Berkley is pretty impressive, so I imagine you'll do well.
Hello Jay13x,
I do agree I will retrain and do something than just panic. I think just typing it out helped me with worries, but at the same time so many questions about my life which good does not help one who never dealt with stress before really (I mean I have but not in this I can't sleep sometimes kind).
Thanks for warning on "computer" classes, I am focusing on programming classes. So except some dumb intro class i took 5 years ago at a community college I am focused on right courses (funnily I needed that class to take the intro programming so it was not useless!).
Also is it weird when people say , you survived Berkeley You will do fine. I still don't think I can self doubt is not fun :(.
Chambers of Commerce, and when they have a get together talk with some of the business owners in the area about their jobs. I'm not trying to push anything, but consider doing some networking so when you have the opportunity to do an internship do one that can get you into something.
"Ethics and helping people" is fairly broad, what social skills do you posses? How were you evaluations? Are you an educator sort of person that would serve best as a type of advocate or consultant type?
Hello, Captian Morgan
I am not sure I can check into, but have you done that? curious as outside of knowing they exist I did not know much of the chambers of commerce (well I know google is a thing :)).
On the social skills I feel like I am good with receiving info and helping people, but my social skills are kind of awkward. I mean I don't mess up alot, but there are times I can tell I lack social graces. That is why at least in some ways I found it odd I liked doing that as I normally am more withdrawn... I think in some ways I would like being a "advocate or consultant type" As it is similar to what I like to do, but never really thought about that before.
Not a terribly exciting one but after graduating me and couple friends headed to Alaska for 2 reasons; tons of snow and no shortage of jobs. I had nothing tying me down so I wasn't leaving anything behind. I ended up taking a crappy job for a couple of months before landing a baking job of all things because I could get off work in the am and hit the mountain everyday when it opened. I ended up doing that for 10 years while volunteering at the Fire Department (free training and 10 bucks an hour on calls). Small town fire departments can be stellar and all that free training wouldn't be cheap if you did it through an academy. If I had pursued a career in the Fire Department I'd be looking at retirement before age 50 but I digress. Other resume expanders included all kinds of random stuff; teaching physically and mentally challenged kids to ski and snowboard, event security gigs, radio dj, etc. I've always been somewhat of an autodidact so I was constantly learning all kinds of random stuff. Granted I wasn't leaning toward a career just trying stuff out to see what sticks and keep some money rolling in. I only got a career job in my field after I met my wife and acquired 2 step kids.
Not entirely helpful I'm sure as you have your own path but there it is.
As has been pointed out, a graduate degree seems to be the way to go if you intend to apply that degree you have earned. The people I know with philosophy degrees had no luck finding jobs even remotely related to their chosen field. It is however a great foundation for any number of graduate degrees.
A degree from Berkeley generally gets an eyebrow raise out of me. If I were hiring for a entry level position, it would have an influence as I hold certain institutions in high esteem and I know many others (especially engineer types) who feel the same. It will matter to others as well.
If I had it to do over again, I would likely choose law school. I found it interesting and needless to say, it is lucrative. I was close to entering law school in California until I bolted for the great white north on a whim.
Hello akmage,
Thanks for the story! I know all paths are different, but it is good to here different ones!
I don't want to sound like I'm coming from left field, but you have to re access your whole analysis.
Specifically your degree is meaningless, however you do have a University Degree which itself shows a commitment and you finished, meaning you accomplished your goal. That itself is meaningful and potential employers acknowledge that.
You need to approach this question by accessing your other qualities.
What are your other interests?
What are you an expert on? (eg. gardening, social media, sports)
What is your past work experience?
What is your volunteer experience?
What are some of your accomplishments?
As a philosophy major you should be able to break this mould of thinking that you have gotten yourself into.
You are defined by more than just your degree. On a resume it takes up no more than 1-2 lines. What employers what to see are skills and accomplishments.
This is coming from someone that used to work in recruitment and consulting.
Hello Tormod
I know that is why I am questioning the degree. I am not trying to define myself by it, but when I analyses thing I realize it is a weird spot to be in. On the one hand I know people who apply to jobs (and myself as well) do not find them. I still apply to entry level to things that interest me or that sound like I could do (to just try). When the only couple callbacks i got to were from like a security company it kind of gets to you.
True I need to work on my skills, and state them. I have done many things I just need to maybe think what they are than just state some random blurb on the resume....
Have you considered a career which can be pursued with any degree, including yours in philosophy?
For instance, anyone can be an actuary, as long as he passes the actuarial exam.
Anyone can also become a software developer.
Considering you graduated from Berkeley, a top 3 school, you are clearly a highly intelligent and motivated individual, to the point where I'd think you'd be able to teach yourself computer programming or actuarial science.
Both are listed in the top 3 jobs out of 200, ranked by the WSJ
I'm sure just the name Berkeley will get your foot in the door for plenty of things.
Hello jdinatale,
That is true and why I am looking into things, It is just a road of figuring that out. I will look into and I am taking classes on Computer stuff.
I think one of your comments actually let me see something though. You said "highly motivated"
I realized that might be the core of it. I am not really motivate at all! I mean I did go to Berkeley, but I choose not to do the work to get A's because I wanted to do other things (not saying i would 4.0 or anything). I even only just went there because I did the UC application and clicked the box on the whim. I think even self learning computer software and I have not even though I have all the free time in the world right now. I think that might be part of the core problem I lack motivation.. I mean I know I have to do other things, but by not even trying to start these things in a timely manner or keep at it all the time I hurt my self. I think I might need to figure out how to help that out,

Hello all thanks for replying! I will try to respond to all you you/ say more things to flesh this out.
Also some info I forgot to include, I was set to do an America Corp, this year. But due to worries and money concerns I pulled out. I think better to do a program for right reasons than a stall year; right? I probably would have liked it, but in some ways this mid-mid life crisis not best thing for such a year.
@OP: You may need to settle on that counselor career. Yes, it's the same thing you've been doing, but you did start down that path. You enjoy it? So, I don't see a problem.
Nothing wrong with going back to school, but do so with purpose, it sounds like you're taking it very casually, in a I-have-nothing-else-to-do kind of way, which I advise not doing. If you do want to go down this route, I would find something that works well with your major, and pursue an associated degree. Another option is a trade school which can be finished in less than 2 years.
Yes, you will have this feeling of regression. It's perfectly understandable, and I wish you the best of luck getting away from it. I'll return to what magickware asked about why pursuing a philosophy degree without answering these questions ahead of time? This, I think, is the core of the problem, you weren't ever going to go anywhere with that degree? Did you do it for fun? If so, it's time to do something more serious. I totally think going to school for fun is fine, if you can afford it.
The thing with that path (well more adviser than the other think study abroad adviser or academic adviser type role). I liked helping people but doing the extra stuff ( i subbed for one at the Berkeley study abroad office for a little while after graduating.. I liked interacting with students, otherwise kind of board really. Also I had a mentor for the field (Student affairs, but I think the philosophy of the field is not something I can handle for 2 years of grad school..) I might be discounting it, but It just did not jive. I can't quite explain it which does not help. I have not discounted but some of it make me weary
To answer your second part I need to state somethings. 1. I pursed the degree because I loved Philosophy at my Community College, best classes mostly best teachers I had (except for one other). My goal at time was get degree and move onto PHd/Masters to teach Philosophy at a community college, which I would love to do. But as I stated earlier the warnings of doing that and probability of success kind of scared me out of it. Also some of the higher level Philosophy I tired of. While I would love to do say ethics I just think probability of obtaining the goal to low. In addition as i researched I never established connections with professors to get letters. The one's I did 1 would be to much gamble (I did well in class but underestimated final and failed it basically and asking for rec from person my only c+ at Berkeley is not the best idea, plus I think that caused them to lose some faith in me..).
2. To be honest when I was going through college I never really thought about it. I did not even apply to a state school in high school (I had probably 3.0ish all b's couple a/s 2 cs I think?). I could gone, but I was lazy to fill out /didn't care. I do not recall exactly. Anyway I just went to a local community college because my parents wanted me to (in some ways good but bad in that I just did because they said so). I sort of fell into my major. I took all the "general ed" classes one was Philosophy I liked it took another for general. I had completed my general Ed, and needed major to transfer. Again I knew i needed major figured Philosophy good enough as I knew to get degree, but nothing else. Even Berkeley I applied to because I filled out the UC app and clicked the box to just apply. I think I ended up going to UC Berkeley once I found out whenever I mentioned people were talking about oh wow and assuming I was going. I mean most people were gushing oh wow you got in that school, etc. In a way i think i read the reaction people of people as I should go and i did. (In some ways this could been disastrous I never checked really if I could afford it or knew nothing about campus really...) I know now how many of my decisions are lets say very dangerous if it had not worked out.
In some ways it was for fun. I had started it ,so I figured out I might as well finish it. As date approached I assumed I would find something to do when my ideas for phd/masters (I had learned you need masters to teach at a community college, later learned that will not be enough in reality). I kind of started panic. Well it was delayed for study abroad my final semester. Then I came back and it set back in...
I think I am saying because of how I was just even 3 years ago I did not take is as a big choice even though now in retrospect how big it really is/was (not counting them student loans either!)
Also for school for now $ wise its fine, in California Community college =0 tuition if you make < 16000 which I do qualify for .. so I can take the classes for basically paying for books... So it would be fine for the first half of a 2nd degree, until later which I need to figure out how to pay (or just double my debts to pay for a state school).
You don't necessarily have to jump right in. I was pretty uncertain what I wanted to do even though work was pretty available in my field. I got a service job so I could be a snowboard bum and supplimented with volunteer work to keep my resume expanding (fire department, teaching kids, etc). I do regret not making a career move sooner as I would be looking at an early retirement option down the road not to mention bigger paychecks. (I snowboard bummed it for 10 years). That being said the economy isn't what it used to be.
What was your story, and maybe that is what I need to think about for a little while. )(if I can find a decent full time/part time job :/. How did you decided what to do. And good point on expanding resume; l try new things and be useful..
Sorry, Masterofthecards, but your best option right now is to pursue something else. The philosophy majors I know work security, are police officers, etc. Unless you went after a graduate degree in philosophy, you won't really be able to break in to academia.
My advice to you is seek out whatever Berkley has as far as an 'job center' that provides professional help to recent grads looking to get jobs, and ask their advice. Although, honestly, I'm not sure what you are expecting, so it'd be nice if you could elaborate what you want out of this degree, or where you see yourself in five or ten years. I have friends who aren't able to find jobs in their field three years in to their job search, and when you choose a degree like philosophy or psychology, your options are limited.
I have to say, as a prospective employer, seeing you got an AA after you completed a BA already, I wouldn't be particularly impressed, I'd wonder why you weren't pursuing a masters degree. You may want to look into Grad Programs (but not expensive ones).
You may want to just consider finding any job that will take you at the moment. The rude awakening here is that there are many fields were 'okay' or even 'good' candidates simply don't stand a chance, and an Undergrad degree isn't particularly impressive anymore.
I am aware on the Philosophy; the people who I knew who did well (the 4.0s I knew at Berkeley) went to law school; masters in something unrelated (I think one did vet or something like that). I know the reality more about that field so I do not know if its worth pursing it. (I did okay at school but 3.2 don't bode well for fellowship for PHD fellowships..
They have a carrier center, but to be honest. If I am not there it is not so useful except maybe as a exclusive job database? Not to say I don’t want to but being in Southern California where my parents. I will use what I can, but not sure how helpful it will be.
To be honest out of my current degree I don’t know what to expect from it. I am kind of asking does it help much. Other than to say I have a degree at this point I consider it almost useless except I guess making my “going with flow” through life as rude awakening. Not trying to be cynical, but at this uncertain stage feels like this.
Where I want to be in say 5-10 years is decent paying job and enough money to travel, but the terrible vacation in US. I honestly if I could I would want job in Europe, or something; again though that is probably my silly Idea (more of a day dream). For mean time my plan is try computer science. If I find I like it or do well enough pursue that otherwise maybe vaguely pursue Student Affairs if I jump out of computer science or Figure out what to do. That is part of what I am trying to find is what people have done. See anything I am missing, and look coldly at myself and ask what do I want?

I am aware about getting AA or BA and Masters. Idea I had was pursue a 2nd Bachelor’s because to shift from Philosophy to Computer as a masters I would need so many Pre Req’s. It would be like 1 more semester to get the second bachelors: /. I am looking for programs to shift faster, but that takes time. More of choice I know can work as I do research into more options.
I agree I should find any job I can; I have applied to many; couple interviews, but no stick. Only one is a part time at the college talking to new students. Helps for now but I will keep looking.
A Philosophy major that made it through UC Berkeley - just playing the odds here - but you are likely wicked smart. What you accomplish in your career is going to be limited by your interests, not by your mental capacity.
Since you are likely to work for 30 years, you may as well select a field that is 1) lucrative, and 2) interesting to you.
So I would suggest having as many conversations as possible with people in various professions (search for the phrase 'informational interview') to inform yourself about the type of work performed in various occupations, as well as the skills/credentials that would be necessary to enter those fields. Then be somewhat strategic about selecting a path that maximizes your earnings potential and exposure to your passions.
Given your propensity for education, you are likely to be able to "out credential" the average practitioner of your selected profession, so that might drive you towards pursuing a PhD in a field with real career potential. With an education in the Bay Area, and your CC classes in computers, the technology field immediately comes to mind - and there are ways to be in technology without a STEM focus. As an example, a graduate with a PhD in linguistics might be highly recruited by search firms or any other company that parses language.
Or if you are interested in therapy, similar concept - you could pursue that type of work without any credentials, or through either a Master in Social Work or Master in Marriage and Family Counseling/Therapy, but your career earnings potential would be far higher as a psychiatrist.

Hello Cme!
I know I think the issue is figuring out what I want then working towards it. I think I can do reasanbly well, but issue is figuring it out which is lucrative (hence my look into STEM).
I do agree with 'informational interview' are very useful. That is how I found my possible like for Philposhy for Community College, and maybe Student affairs. That is how I even got idea to go for 2nd degree. I was always curious so I went for it. The issue is I think some ways I justify going for the 2nd degree to stall again for 3-4 years. I am second guessing it a little bit, but still idea lead down this road! I think real reason I am not going for advisor is to be honest they don’t make enough money to justify getting the masters to get 30,000-40,000 a year ….
I do agree a PHD would be neat… but explained earlier it would be weird with how I handled my undergrad or need for masters to “make up” for it. I will pursue though, and I did survived Berkeley, so I am maybe not as big of a screw up as I am thinking right now lol.
I might look into that but again I might have used wrong word. My exposure was mostly to students, but I might be limiting my self, I might need to ask those kinds of fields to see. I must open my options!
Thanks for replies so far. To be honest hard to figure out what to dom it is hard to figure out what to do.

I think I can understand it and empathize in my mind, but do not really show it well. I think part of that is I can have trouble reading people. I err to trust people as a result, but that makes it hard to detect sarcasm and what not...

I am mostly a lurker here, First time posting here.
I recently Graduated from College, (UC Berkeley Philosophy) I was studying abroad the last semester and went to southern California after the fact. The thing is I have no idea what to do. I found a field I might like from my college work (being a counselor/adviser). I liked working with students, but I have some doubt that might just because that is what i did for the last 6 year (6 years of undergrad...).
I do not have much direction other than I am taking computer Classes at a local Community College, but the thing is this feels like stagnation. I did this before as I had no idea then transferred to a great school. However this feels like I am doing the same thing. Distracting my self with school, get degree then not having a plan. While that might be okay the first time doing it again seems like a step backward of getting a degree.
To be honest I am not sure this make sense or if I lack motivation. However when I applied to "real" jobs I never got replies backs and going to school was easier (and to delay loans), so I ended up going back. I am not sure how this sounds and i have the annoyance that I am not moving forward.
What is the best way to re think this? I mean I have a degree in something I like, but when the people in the field are telling undergrads don't peruse it is kind of annoying. I know why after looking , but still after all this time I feel like I am not doing anything with my life. Any advice *_*.
In Short: I am panicking because I feel like I regressed, and in some ways getting a degree did nothing for job prospects or luck in this econ, I even moved back in with my parents :/

Thanks everyone for the help so far! I am tinkering around with Java (the intro class uses this and raptor to get used to the idea of coding)
I know I need to play with it more to see if I like, but my question is how say I do like it what is the next step to making it a carrier? (as opposed to now where I am just exploring) I guess I want to know if say i need to get another bachelor's or can you jump to masters with pre reqs?
I know that is jumping the gun to quickly but.... I am liking so far

Hello
I am thinking of trying to learn Computer Programing, However I am not sure where to start. I am taking classes at a Community College, but it seems to be going slow. What are good resources to use? ( I know/have googled it, but I want to know your advice!)
Thanks

Current job: Unemployed ; Just Graduated from UC Berkeley with a BA in Philosophy. Tried Finding Job could not, Now In a Community College taking Computer programming classes for now!
Dream job: Billionaire! Okay real job would be teaching Philosophy at a Uni or Community College. Looked into but seemed to be not worth risk/ Do not know if I could attempt with out fellowship

Question if I need everything ; would it be better to get a budget tower or just wait?
For example while that tower example could work; I would need monitor/keyboard/operating system and all that stuff putting me out or budget range (and 500$ was the high end for me). Is this possible or do I need to save up?
To be honest maybe a new computer is out of my range right now with that budget in mind?
Thanks for all the help so far though!

Yugioh does have counterspells just not as many as but they could be hard lock/ soft lock instead of the one shot (Usually built into monsters: some examples:
Dunno how that helps, but there are negate cards etc. They are just not the most used.
Also I thought debate was on power rather than better story (which I admit is not the best, but out of some odd nostalgia I still watch),
Also i am not sure how Bolas would stack up against zorc or stuff although I did forget about the Orichalcos stuff or Even Darkness from GX season 4....

Hello
THanks for the Replies!
For coffee my budget would be like 3-500 dollars. Maybe More (I am moving after I get back from study abroad it depends on those).
Would that work for a computer or should I wait and save up for a better machine?
I do kind of want to discount the future because of my bad 4 year old netbook, but if its only a couple/few hundred for a much better machine I could wait.

With my budget i just posted should I just wait? Also is it possible to build one if
a. I really don not know what I am doing (I would look it up of course)
b. With budget constraints? I assume though I could just slowly upgrade, but then again I do not know if that is a smart idea

I think its does not untap twice like , yosei keeps tapped twice if it died twice, but some one pointed out it says untap step not whole step. Skipping step not same as frost titan... who is right?

My education is BA from UC Berkeley, which yes did lean me more left, but not as fanatic as people I know;
On the website Surging Chaos posted; I was Left Liberation; I did not write my score down but one was nearly 7 and the other was a tad under 6.

Hello cme!
Could you pm/ post your story? And i think PHD in another field has same problem I worry, 7(I know it can vary) of certainty seems odd. In addition I have a friend who was doing one in Math.. He has worries and things that make it kind of scary, but those were more about academia.
Hello akmage,
Thanks for the story! I know all paths are different, but it is good to here different ones!
I think I might need to figure out how to help that out,
Fusion Elemental is like riding a pony, which probably doesn't sound dangerous, except that in this case the pony is 300 feet tall and covered in chainsaws, and to get on the pony you have to take an elevator with sixteen live cougars.
Also some info I forgot to include, I was set to do an America Corp, this year. But due to worries and money concerns I pulled out. I think better to do a program for right reasons than a stall year; right? I probably would have liked it, but in some ways this mid-mid life crisis not best thing for such a year.
What was your story, and maybe that is what I need to think about for a little while. )(if I can find a decent full time/part time job :/. How did you decided what to do. And good point on expanding resume; l try new things and be useful..
I have to say, as a prospective employer, seeing you got an AA after you completed a BA already, I wouldn't be particularly impressed, I'd wonder why you weren't pursuing a masters degree. You may want to look into Grad Programs (but not expensive ones).

I am thinking of trying to learn Computer Programing, However I am not sure where to start. I am taking classes at a Community College, but it seems to be going slow. What are good resources to use? ( I know/have googled it, but I want to know your advice!)
Thanks
